Degree: Biblical Studies

Balance. Balance is a key word for Bob Jones University. Are you going to get the most elite academic training in America? No. But you will get an excellent education. When it comes to its Christian world view, it endeavors to teach its students the proper Biblical view on how to make a difference in this world and not compromise. It does so without the effect of having students become radicalized about minor Christian issues. It provides a safe environment for students to develop socially without... Read More

Degree: Performing Arts

Bob Jones is a small Christian school with a student body ranging around 3,000. Because of its size and nature, this school is much cheaper than most others while offering a higher caliber of education. It was the perfect size to meet a variety of people while still affording enough anonymity. While the student body care is flawed and legalistic, the current dean is working relentlessly to advocate for the students and to change the stigma surrounding the administration. My department was by far... Read More

Degree: English

They have the best English Liberal Arts program. I learned how to write at this school. Academics was highly rigid but fair. I had to learn how to learn. The teachers spend time on their students. I love this school and I support them to this day.

Degree: Music

My experience at Bob Jones University was great! The school was a wonderful place to grow and learn. The academics were excellent, particularly the English department. Although I was a music major, the academic load outside of the arts probably helped to prepare me for life in general.

Degree: Theology

This review will focus on the degree program. The theological views the program propones are particularly provincial. For example, in 2015 they were still saying that anyone who isn't a dispensationalist isn't interpreting Scripture literally. Dispensationalists haven't pushed this view since the 80s, yet BJ Seminary is still gung-ho here. The faculty was generally unfamiliar with current theological trends, even those among conservative evangelical circles. I asked a main theology prof about federal... Read More

BJU provides a quality, liberal-arts education at a fraction of the cost of many private institutions. While the guidelines students must abide by are not over-the-top, do take a look at them before signing up to go. I appreciated the dedication and personal investment of my professors, as well as the friendships I made in the education program.

Bob Jones University is an excellent choice for undergraduate and graduate education. They work at educating the whole person in an environment that is Christ-honoring.

Degree: Business

Bob Jones University was a good Christian college. They provided a well rounded liberal arts education with skilled and experienced faculty in all of their departments. BJU is not for the faint of heart or the partier though. With their rigorous academics and strict rules, BJU shapes a well defined college graduate and equips him or her to enter the workforce prepared for anything.

Degree: Nursing

I am just getting started at Bob Jones and planning on doing a four-year bachelor's degree in nursing. So far, I have taken some online courses to help lighten the load of courses when I get to school. When I first began my online classes, I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to connect with the teachers or experience enough classroom interaction with other students; however, this was not the case. In all of my classes, I had excellent instructors who knew a wide spectrum of what their course involved... Read More

Degree: Nutrition

Technically my major has been discontinued temporarily due to accreditation. However, once Bob Jones become nationally accredited the school will reconsider starting up the Food and Nutrition major. I thoroughly enjoyed my nutrition classes and learned a lot. It was a great experience for me.

Degree: Education

Usually the courses last eight weeks. Each Sunday a new week of work opens up, and it is all due by Saturday at midnight. The work includes watching lectures, responding to discussion questions, and reading. The classes tend to be project oriented, and there are very few tests or quizzes.

Tell us about your college experience.

It was a great experience. The rules were hard to obey at times, but they were also advantageous in teaching me personal discipline. I use that discipline in every aspect of my life currently. The school adequately prepared me for teaching for 6 years in the middle school and high school classroom. I felt prepared for almost any situation.

Would you get the same degree if you could start over?

None, the same. I loved teaching. It was a degree that could take me... Read More

What advice can you offer other students?

Choose a college. Stick with a legitimate degree even if you decide half way through that you don't enjoy it as much as you once did. However with education, do NOT become a teacher unless you enjoy it. There are too many people picking education as a degree when they should not be in that field. When you get out of college a finished degree makes an impact... not a half degree or something that took you only a few months.
