I took advantage of Purdue Global's Excel Track program for my Bachelors in Cybersecurity. The classes were well designed and pertained to relevant information in the field. I've been in my field for a long time, and was a little apprehensive about what I was going to see; I was impressed. I didn't find the classes to be redundant, and I found myself enjoying them. Read More were things I already knew and could probably have skipped over, but I liked refreshing my skills and measuring myself against what I knew versus what I didn't know, or had forgotten.
The only issue I had, and it could be a personal one, was that a few of the classes, the math based courses in my experience, seemed out of sync with what was taught versus what was being tested. I ended up going to an external site and transferring credits in for the math courses. Out of all the classes I took, these were the ones I felt were most troublesome. My counselor helped me figure out the way ahead that worked for me, so while it was a little more burden on me, I wasn't left managing it on my own.
Overall, my experience was great. I loved the speed with which I could go through material and the curriculum was well thought out. There is a robust support system to help you through anything you're afraid of encountering. Everyone I ever dealt with from tutors to administrative support were wonderful and encouraging. They really helped keep me on track and successful.

I have read about 30 of these reviews and most of them are negative so far. I know many will read this and just pass it by or look at the length and say no thank you, but please if you are struggling ask for help if you are on the fence find a friend or a councilor, help is available and there are far far worse schools and educational experiences that will leave you wanting. I must also respectfully state that I have had my share of instructors who I felt we did not see eye to eye and or get along with in the online setting but the written word is one of the most informal lines of communication we have and it can be difficult to portray your needs through writing. I have had grades I did not agree with and even assignments I thought to be tedious and unfulfilling and at times a waste of my hard-earned money and time. I will also agree that it does feel like an attempt at times to convert you to their belief system. Though I could not respect myself if I just got on here and followed bashing of a school I have come to love, it is hard to adjust to new things and new ways of thinking I mean look at the crusades and what people did in the name of being Christian then. We must evolve as a people just as well as individually. I was out right appalled at the beginning of my Christian worldview class. I would also like to point out that I am not Christian, and I have not accepted their views or beliefs. I will say that I have adopted their attempt to love everyone and try to be helpful as much as I can, yes being human makes that difficult sometimes because I am blinded by my own emotions and thoughts. In majority of the courses, we get instruction on how to use critical thinking and ethics to our advantage. I feel that if we could take a step back and use those skills, we would be far less quick to the cut on an incident or experience that caused us to want to give a less then flattering review. However please note you are allowed your own opinions and thoughts that is the main point of everything GCU offers. They also provide a plethora of help and literature to those struggling at school, home and even life. I do not believe any issue that has ever come up with my funding, grades, and beliefs to have ever but me in an impossible situation with the university. GCU does not have to be one of them make your expectations known and follow through on information you are given it can make a world of difference. The B.S. in Cybersecurity - Excel Track degree program online from Purdue Global is an excellent choice for students who are fast learners and work at their own pace. I recently graduated from Purdue University Global, and overall I am extremely satisfied with my experience. As a disabled student, I struggled to find a university or college teaching cybersecurity that could accommodate my disabilities. Purdue Global's Excel Track is a self-paced degree program where students engage in hands-on labs,... Read More write essays, and take evaluation tests. The terms are ten weeks, and students can complete as many 1-hour credit modules as they desire. No module can be open at the end of the ten-week term, or there are academic penalties. The format of the Excel Track program allowed me to work around my disabilities and achieve my academic dreams. The financial aid department is great to work with, and Purdue Global accepts the Pelle Grant. I enjoyed my experience so much that I decided to continue my studies, and now I am enrolled in the Excel Track Master in Science in Cybersecurity Management with a concentration in Critical Infrastructure Security. Purdue Global has been designated by the National Security Agency (NSA) and Department of Homeland Security as a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education (CAE-CD) for the Master of Science in Cybersecurity Management. Purdue Global also offers courses in more of a traditional format with lectures from professors and assigned work. I appreciated being able to buy my textbooks in print form for an additional cost outside of attendance. I have an eye injury and vision problems that make it more difficult for me to learn and absorb materials that are in a digital-only format. Good old-fashioned paper books are not available at all schools, and there were two or three classes that I had at Purdue University that did not have printed books available for students to purchase. Purdue Global's curriculum and commitment to academic excellence make it a far superior choice for cybersecurity-related degrees than ECPI, Western Governors University, and other institutions that I have attended. Overall, I recommend Purdue Global to anyone seeking an online format degree, and I feel that my education was a good value. Purdue Global also has partnerships with companies such as Booz Allen Hamilton, Northrop Grumman, and many more, to assist students in gaining employment after they graduate.

First of all, I would like to state that FHSU is not a terrible school by any means, in fact, there are many redeeming qualities to this school. For example, both mentors I had were on top of it and even helped me graduate a semester early. I also have no complaints with the administrative departments. Not once did I have to wait an excessive amount of time to receive an answer to a question I might have, or trouble enrolling in courses. I would also like to applaud the IT department for their work; I had very few instances where I was unable to access the Blackboard website, and when I did the IT department was quick to resolve the issue or respond. Where I had the biggest gripe with this school was with the program and the instructors. First, the program I took felt like it was 90% filler 10% pertaining to what I actually wanted to study, which was cybersecurity. By filler I do not mean GenEd classes, instead I mean there were classes that had absolutely nothing to do with my degree. The program I chose was Networking and Telecommunications with a concentration in cybersecurity which fell under the Informatics department. The problem with this program is that it also included additional concentrations (Journalism, Web and Mobile, Health, Management, etc.) and they were all lumped together with no real separation with concentration. I took maybe 1 or 2 courses that actually had something to do with cybersecurity. Granted, I believe these programs are fairly new, so its possible in the future this will not be an issue, but for the time being I felt very disappointed with the program and feel like I am no better off now than I was when I first started. Second, as an online student I paid more in tuition than an on-campus student would, yet I felt like a second class citizen. I never felt like I was "taught" anything since the majority of the course work and lectures was over PowerPoint or a similar form of media. I took a course where the instructor included pre-recorded videos that dated back to 2006. I understand the material might not have changed much (especially since the course was Geology) but there is absolutely no reason as to why the videos cannot be updated. In another class the instructor had scheduled Zoom meetings scheduled for online students to attend, but if you were unable to attend the instructor stated he would not record the lesson and you were, in essence, S.O.L. Also, there were many times when I would email an instructor and would not hear back for a few days, or at all. Some of the questions I had pertained to either issues in the course, or related to assignments or course work. This made things very frustrating at times.

The Cybersecurity division of this school is really bad. I've gotten good grades but quality of education is poor and professors take forever to grade. Most of the courses outsource textbooks/labs to ucertify which constantly has issues. Also, they still reference Windows 10 in all of the readings, when Windows 11 has been out a couple years now. UMGC, formerly UMUC, or University of Maryland Global Campus is a great institution for those adults who are willing and able to self-learn. There is no doubt that the overall material can be rather ambiguous and some instructors are 'absent', however, majority of my instructors were some of the best professionals who helped mold me to be better at this craft. This made learning offensive security fun and intriguing while also shedding light on additional sources to research for my own profession. This degree program WILL NOT be a one-stop shop to just get a degree and land a job without any work from the student. The students must be willing and able to also take their educational studies and cross-reference with other online sources to continue building their background. Additionally, you get to choose majority of your courses for the CS degree... For example, I was able to learn video game programming in Java as an elective for my minor while still working through CCNA, Net+. Ethical Hacker and PenTest work for my major. This school WILL give you the building blocks to be successful, and this degree program is one of the best in the country for online students and military affiliates. I would recommend this school to anyone who needs a place to start with their IT transition.
