Great school. I had many great professors that helped mentor me and really cared about my education. There were some tough classes towards the end of last year which required a lot more study time and the ability to really grasp new ideas but overall i really enjoyed getting my degree through UMGC and would recommend it to anybody.

I went to UMBC, Capella, and UMGC. By far and away the LEAST useful of all my degrees! I did not find much of what I did relevant to my later career in tech leadership. It was overly generalized, not specific to any niches, and the grading was often very capricious. I would not recommend it or go back if I had to do it over again. Capella was the best education I had, but it was expensive.

The asynchronous online platform is intuitive and well-structured, making it ideal for working professionals or anyone who enjoys the autonomy of online learning.

UMGC has helped me achieve goals in my life that I wanted to achieve. The classes they offer fit any schedule and the degree can help with career advancement. I highly recommend this school to anyone who is not able to attend classes in person and enjoys completing school work on their own time.

University of Maryland, Global Campus is a great school for those that work full time or have very busy schedules. The classes are mostly online but you can take courses in person or that are hybrid. For me, taking classes online was the best choice and easiest for my schedule.

I went back for a second experience *** So they assigned me a degree planner who advised and then allowed me to enroll in a class that my Post911 would not cover. I was allowed to enroll and participate. I was not notified of this error until the class was over half complete. As soon as I was notified by the VA I dropped the class, not even notified by UMGC. Even though they advised me, allowed me to enroll and participate they charged me full price. Who can afford scenarios and risks like this?... Read More

UMGC is a great school for anybody who is just trying to get a degree. I wouldn't say that the education is top tier, but it is sufficient. You really get out of it what you put into it. If you want to learn the content and understand it, you have to put forth the effort to do so, nobody will make you learn it and there are no lectures to sit through. It's completely at your own pace, which has it's pros and cons.

My experience at this university has been profoundly discouraging, and, at this point, I would not recommend it to others. It’s disheartening to feel trapped in an environment that seems to prioritize formality over genuine academic growth. Unfortunately, the university’s acceptance, and continued tolerance, of professors who fail to uphold even basic standards of teaching and mentorship has been one of the most disappointing aspects of my graduate experience.
The professor assigned to this course... Read More
What makes this experience even more troubling is the institution’s complacency in allowing such behavior to persist. Despite clear patterns of poor instruction and multiple student concerns, there appears to be no accountability or intervention from the university. This tolerance for incompetence not only undermines academic integrity but also conveys a troubling message: that the institution values tuition revenue more than the quality of education or the well-being of its graduate students.
As a result, many students, myself included, are left navigating complex material with minimal guidance, receiving only partial or inconsistent corrections, and feeling largely abandoned in what should be a collaborative and intellectually stimulating environment. Graduate education should challenge students to think critically and grow professionally, not break them down through neglect and indifference.
This experience has been eye-opening, revealing how institutional priorities can overshadow the very mission of education. It has strengthened my belief in the importance of accountability, empathy, and true academic leadership, values this university would do well to rediscover.

I called to ask about switching majors when I was 72 credits in (all were for general education) and they said I would be able to keep all of my credits if I switched and it would not affect me. They then switched my major. A month later they removed all of the credits I had earned online and put me back to 60 credits. Waste of time and money. Will be switching to another online program. If you want to go here make sure you do not try to change your major program no matter what your success coach... Read More

This is the worst money hungry institution there is. If I could create a class action suit to sue the advisors and administrators for the pain and suffering they have caused me and past students I would. I honestly have been greatly considering it. This school seems to set you up for failure and does a lot of money grab activities such as signing you up for classes you dont ask them to. Or youll see a charge pop up in your account from a year ago that makes 0 to no sense. Ive been to 2 other colleges... Read More

I just started the East Asian Studies bachelor program and the quality of education is fairly good in one class and excellent in another. I am taking two classes at a time. One class has decent lectures and materials, and I can take quizzes twice. In another class, the material is incredibly difficult and time-consuming and quizzes are tough. This particular class reminds me of when I was in graduate school (I'm working on a second bachelor's in order to pivot into a new field). My classmates are... Read More

THE ABSOLUTE WORST ADMISSIONS EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER ENCOUNYERED!! STAY AWAY. I recently submitted for more information on their communications masters program only to have a 3rd party entity called prime call me first ro ask basic questions that I had already answered when I first became interested. CAUTION: This school 's only measure of whether you are learning is by writing papers. All you do is write all the time and you are more than likely not going to retain the information because on top of the writing assignments, you have to write a bunch for the discussion posts also. Decent school for accepting military credits, but the curriculum is a joke, riddled with nonsensical writing assignments.

I signed up in May 2023 with UMGC Europe, submitted a transfer credit report, done by WES. My goal was to get a BA quickly using most of my transfer credits. I had 5 majors which I was interested in. In July UMGC "lost" all my transfer credits on record after I submitted a second transfer credit report from another university. I complained and after a week my account showed some credits but three credits less than before. My question why that is has been unanswered for 6 weeks now. I was told I had... Read More

Where to begin.... My advice is to avoid the UMGC cybersecurity technology masters program at all costs - unless you enjoy being in a management position and not knowing how to do your job (which is unfortunately true of many cyber leaders - they love policy, but have no idea how to implement the deeds they preach)! Five of the six courses in the cybersecurity technology program are 100% policy based, meaning that the bulk of your assignments are based on writing cyber policy with regards to, or... Read More

I started with UMGC in 2019 and chose them for their pricing, lack of book costs, and payment plan options. Rather then take out more student loans I was able to make interest free payments for each semester and go at my own pace (which not only helps balance my busy schedule but also helps with my budget) I was able to take 2 to 3 classes a semester and finish my degree in 3 years. UMGC is a waste of time. They only care about collecting money. Professors generally have other jobs and don't care about the students. There are a couple good ones out there, but most couldn't care less. The curriculum is at least a decade old, and there is no instruction in the classes. The courses are almost 100% self study with outside resources since there are no books for any classes. The course materials are usually nothing more than a 10-15 year old PDF from a random industry source, not... Read More
