I transferred from the University of Wisconsin (UW) River Falls and changed majors from Architectural Design and Drafting to Technology Education. Some credits did not transfer within the UW system, which I found to be a complete and utter scam. I was at a school in the same system and state, just a couple of hours away by car, and I had to pay thousands of dollars to retake courses I had already taken and passed with good merit. I enjoyed every class I took at this school, and I found the shops to be adequate with equipment and supplies. My Advisor was my second biggest issue (following the lost credits) with this school. I received far less advice, and far more silence/absence from my advisor. It made the experience challenging, and I had to ask other professors for insight. I can appreciate my own learning from this experience, but transferring schools and credits, and navigating a plethora of University jargon, made not having an adequate advisor a brutal experience.

My experience with this school: -Professors are generally good, certain staff members were not but you learn to avoid their classes. -School does not take stalking allegations seriously, especially if you are male. -School will charge you for classes for which you never attended nor had any intent to be a part of. -School will NOT contact you further once their board has reviewed any information regarding their own policies, instead they will wait over 4 years then silently send the bill for classes... Read More you never took to collections. -If you have not graduated within 4 years, staff will no longer care about you. -59% graduation rate(per Google statistics) is less than 2/3 of students. One out of every 3 students who goes here WILL NOT GRADUATE HERE. If your class is 10,000 people say goodbye to 4,100 of them, because statistically they won’t be there. You may write my review off, I understand that. But please read other medium/bad reviews as well before choosing this school.

Absolutely terrible time. The head of the Video Production degree is incapable of doing his job properly. He prevented students from getting above a C in his classes, forcing us to lose GPA even if we got an A in every other class we had. On top of this, NO ONE would address this issue. Head of Communication Department? Nope. Dean of Students? Not them either. Chancellor of the entire school? Absolutely useless. You'll be better off watching YouTube videos on the subject you want to learn, because the staff and faculty here don't care about you, your education, or your well being.

I am currently completing a Masters Degree in Career and Technical Education with a CTE Coordinator certificate through the University of Wisconsin - Stout. My program is designed to be completed online by a working professional, so it is an extremely flexible program. While I am currently taking 2 classes a semester, you can take just one class a semester if that works better for your schedule. There is also the option to do blended courses or on-campus courses, meeting the needs of every student.... Read More My academic advisor called me at a mutually agreed upon time to discuss my program and the courses I needed to take, along with the order in which to take them for maximum efficiency. Every question I have asked has been answered within 1 day and the professors are incredibly helpful and truly want their students to succeed.

I am currently enrolled in the graduate program for Food Science and Technology. The program is very nice - the professors all have Ph.Ds and have worked in the food science industry or done extensive research. The department is small, but you get to know your professors very well, and they seem to genuinely care about their students. There is plenty of opportunity to do your own research, plus you get to choose from a wide variety of interesting classes each semester. The program is certified by... The one downside I would point out is that the program seems a little underfunded.

The Industrial Design program at UW-Stout just gets the job done. The instructors are nice and work hard, but you learn basic skills that won't get you very far in the industry unless you do your own work beyond school. Upon graduating and starting my first job, I realized that I was only prepared to do esthetic iterations in the real world. If you want a more intellectually-stimulating job that involves research and ergonomics, then I would recommend checking out another school. The network that... It can easily get you a job at an industrial company somewhere in Wisconsin, but again, if you want a more glamorous job at a design firm, then I would go elsewhere. All that said, UW-Stout has had a few students that have gone above and beyond expectations and got jobs at reputable firms, but that does not happen very often and is usually a result of the student's hard work outside of the program.

There are many pros to the Customized Instruction graduate program including the ease of all courses being online, the helpfulness of the faculty in rapidly answering questions, and the opportunity to take electives that are more beneficial to my personal needs as a student. There are few cons to this program. One being the lack of scholarships that are timely for new or first year students. I applied for fall admission in February, which is well ahead of the admission deadline. However, all of the... The deadline for scholarships makes them more directed at current students rather than new ones.
