Student-Recommended Online Schools
The online schools on this list are highly recommended by current students and alumni. Ratings are based on student reviews collected since 2008, totaling thousands of reviews of more than 2,400 schools. Keep in mind that the relatively small sample size of online school reviewers for any given school, as well as personal reviewer biases, can skew a school's rating positively or negatively. However, every review is vetted to ensure authenticity before being published.

Ultimate Medical Academy left a very positive impression on me. I was able to balance a busy personal life and complete my degree with their program. When I decided to come back to school I was super nervous because it had been 24 years since I had been in school. The staff made me feel welcome, and like I always had all the support I needed. I have had nothing but a great experience at Louisiana State University, Shreveport. All of my professors have been so helpful and knowledgeable in my field of study. Classes are online and accelerated but workload is manageable even while working. Professors actually have working experience in the field that they teach as well which is important to me.

This program is best suited for people who have at least 5+ years work experience and are looking for a career change or leg up. A lot of the classes require independent work and study, but that works out perfectly if you have a hectic schedule. Some teachers are better than others, so ensure you use ratemyprofessor to choose classes based on your needs. For those who are concerned about quality, remember this is not Harvard… adjust your expectations. On another note, my friends in more expensive... Read More

Aspen was the perfect university for me - someone who worked full time, with a young one (1-3 years old), and who required the flexibility in both scheduling as well as payment options. My faculty mentor, Dr. Pearce, was AMAZINGLY supportive and one of the reasons why I’ve enjoyed my time at Aspen university so much. I’ve recommended this school to other colleagues and have recruited 2 more students to the DNP program.
However, I am very disappointed that they cancelled the 2025 graduation ceremony.... Read More

Completed my Bachelor of Science in Nursing online through Aspen University. Tuition was affordable and could be done in installments. I also got a discount from work. Classes were 8 weeks long with manageable workload and good instructors. Each class was unique and contributed to my learning as a nurse. I thought this would take long, but it ended up being faster than I thought. My academic advisors were very helpful and answered all my questions.

In general, I have been going to school part time on and off for the last 10 years. After having kids and dealing with medical issues, life has thrown many curveballs my way. I went to a good handful of universities and colleges in my local area and the way that classes worked and the way that travel worked, they all sucked. Either classes started too late, schools were too far from home, too expensive, or had professors that cared less about teaching and more cared about politics. I had a difficult... Read More

I loved ASU, easy to navigate. Taught me relevant information about my career field, while giving opposing opinions. There was a lot of resources and support for me as an online student, and as a veteran. When I reached out for assistance I got it. The instructors were knowledgeable, recently working or currently working in their fields.

I absolutely loved attending CSU. It gave me a great balance between work/life balance. They give you deadlines and you aren't penalized for doing assignments ahead of time. You have a flexible schedule. They have an amazing support system in place as well. I thoroughly enjoyed the Writing and Math Centers. They answered any questions I had, they also gave examples and made sure I understand the assignment.

I love my school; everything is very clear from the get go for many people unless you are in a highly specialized field like Law. The admissions process was quick and easy to understand, I was able to work one on one with my advisor who explained everything to me for how things work at the doctoral level. I would definitely recommend CSU for anyone looking for an amazing higher education experience.

Troy University was easy to deal with to get through all the requirements of the degree program. The teachers are very nice and provided good lesson plans. I have also appreciated the instructors who encourage meaningful discussions, critical thinking, and different perspectives. Having professional experience in correctional management and security operations, I enjoy being able to contribute my own experiences while learning from my classmates.

I graduated from Regent University in 2024 with a BA in English and a concentration in Biblical Studies. Regent has a fantastic English program. The professors were knowledgeable and the English literature studies were vast and informative. When it came to choosing courses, there was a wide range to choose from not only for English Lit but for many subjects especially biblical studies. APU is a great school for service members, as the professors have been very flexible with my busy schedule. They are understanding of how life is in the military and how unpredictable it can be at times, and give a lot of room to submit assignments on a timely manner, within reason. I enjoyed taking online classes to gain my Bach degree in Behavioral science. The classes I took were very informative and I learned a great deal. All of my classes have been asynchronous, making it easy to schedule coursework in between my working hours. TESU has its own system different from other colleges. Do not think your instructor is going to be what you think because its not. In this school they do not call the teachers instructors they call them mentors. If you think your mentor will post videos on youtube on how to do a math problem that is not the case. You are entirely on your own as a self taught school.
