It was a great school but I had quite a few problems with it. In regards to the campus, technology available and aesthetic it was perfect. Also lots of people my age to relate to etc etc. But when it came to anything mental health related or club involved there was a large struggle. It never felt smooth or seamless to ask for help or to feel like staff had my back. Also there were a ton of teachers who shouldn't be teaching. At least in the engineering department. I.E boring try not to fall asleep... Read More

I think FIU being a public school comes with it drawbacks. With funding and being heavily influenced by the current Florida administration being the main ones. I think overall you get what you pay for and not to say it’s a bad thing. I think I could have had a higher quality space elsewhere but I would say the education itself is still very good. The administration running the Landscape Architecture and Environmental Urban Design program are very dedicated and are very influential in their field.... Read More

At my time of attendance, Florida International University had a great college experience. The campus is big with a lot of activities, eating options and amenities for both residents of the campus and commuters. The course work was taught by knowledgeable professors with a deep understanding of the material. The classrooms were equipped with the technology needed for the professor. I feel the grading scales were reasonable and students were given what we needed to succeed in our classes.

When I was at FIU there wasn't as many majors in the exercise science field. They didn't have kinesiology as a major nor some of the biological science majors that I was interested in. I am unsure of how it is now as I am aware that the school has expanded. I think my experience was that of a standard university. I am glad the prices weren't as high as other colleges I have heard of. There were classes that I liked and didn't like. I never really had any interest in extracurricular groups or activities,... Florida International University was an important part of my academic and personal growth. As a psychology student at FIU, I had the opportunity to develop strong critical thinking, research, and analytical skills while learning about human behavior and mental health. The psychology program challenged me to think deeply about real-world issues and understand how psychological principles apply to everyday life.
One of the things I appreciated most about FIU was the diversity of the student body. Being... Read More
FIU also provided many opportunities for students to get involved both academically and socially. There were numerous clubs, campus events, and academic resources that supported students throughout their time at the university. I found that professors were generally supportive and knowledgeable, and many of them encouraged students to ask questions, think critically, and explore their interests within the field.
Another benefit of attending FIU was its location in Miami, which offers a unique blend of cultural, professional, and networking opportunities. Being in such a dynamic city gave students access to internships, community organizations, and experiences outside the classroom that can help prepare them for future careers.
Overall, my experience at Florida International University helped me grow academically and personally. It provided a strong educational foundation while also encouraging independence, curiosity, and engagement with the community. My time at FIU played an important role in shaping my academic interests and preparing me for the next steps in my professional journey.

I believe the college gave me a more insightful and rewarding experience when learning about the industry and career paths of Journalism. My previous college that I transferred from (Broward College, a community college) gave me very rudimentary guidelines and I never learned beyond the basics. I made good friends at FIU that I still talk to and have great knowledge that has still stuck with me in the proceeding years.

The school offers a lot of great courses that will be helpful to most students. Learning is about getting the most depending on the effort that you put in. The professors are very attentive and helpful, and the university is highly rated. The program will teach from some basics to advance materials but ultimately your success will depend on your work.

The University had plenty of resources (support staff, counselors, professors, technology, library, etc) available to the students when needed. The professors also seemed intelligent and competent in their subjects, and many had direct professional experience in their fields. My fellow classmates who graduated gained employment/entered in good careers and/or grad programs.

I loved attending FIU and had great professor and classes. I'm glad that I was able to attend such a great school close to home. I would recommend FIU to other students who are on a budget and live in Miami or those who just want to stay close to their parents.

I would say that Florida International University is a good school overall. The college I attended was the College of Engineering and Computing. Some of the professors are nice and some are mean but the grading is overall, very fair compared to other universities for the most part. Some of the professors do support favoritism therefore it is not all a fair grade just because you do all the work required and attended their class. However, compared to over universities, the engineering department does... Read More

FIU has been a place where I'm still learning, growing, and striving to be the best version of myself. As a Black; Afro-Caribbean American student that struggles with ADHD/ADD and Asperger's, my journey hasn't been always easy as I would like it to be, there are days when I go through ups and downs, moments where I feel like giving up, times when the weight of everything that goes on beyond my studies feels heavy. Yet, what keeps me enduring is my faith in Christ, the encouragement and reassurance... Read More

I believe that FIU provided a good education, preparation for the work environment, and great professors. I enjoyed the freedom that a commuter school provided. I also enjoyed the friends made at FIU. It was truly a time for me. I also feel like it will be influential to my career.

I entered the program in January 2017, being sold to me as a great Master in Finance and number 5 within the USA. The information provided to me was false. Employers were knowledgeable of the program. I was one of the few locals, and everyone else was mainly International using the program to extend their residency in the USA, and this was mainly promoted when they bought the program. The program was outdated. In 2017, Florida suffered from Hurricane Irma. Half of the program was cut in half, but... Read More

Admin is money hungry and will find any way to charge you and hold charges against you no matter what. The enrollment center can't even follow their own rules for their student petition, because circumstances that are out of students' control aren't enough for them to accommodate simple requests, even when it states they are covered. Making me pay $5000 for classes I can't even take? Very disappointed in how they handled and decided on the situation. Steer clear of FIU. Already pulled out all future... Read More

FIU is a mix of great professors and horrible professors, but unfortunately my experience here has been mostly with the latter. Professors here tend to be condescending, elitist, unhelpful, and not at all concerned with student's needs. The administrative faculty (advisors, etc) are similar, with most showing up to work simply to collect a paycheck with no percieved interest or care for students. I transferred to FIU with 29 credit hours from a top-rated private university, and was only credited... Read More

I have gone through so many different scenarios in which FIU has been the least helpful they could possibly be. The entire staff either doesn't know anything or doesn't put any effort into helping you figure it out. YOU WILL HAVE TO FIGURE EVERYTHING OUT ON YOUR OWN. When I say ABSOLUTELY no guidance, I cant stress that enough. From signing up to classes to speaking with academic advisors, the application process, study abroad, just about anything you can think of, the administration makes it a POINT... Read More
