I transferred to UNT during COVID after attending a private 4-year school for two years and a community college for one. I will say that in comparison to community college, UNT was less academically rigorous. I had a full course load and felt that a lot of the things that I was doing were simply busywork from my professors. I will say that I had a great time socially at UNT. With lots of people living either on campus or in apartments nearby, it was very easy to make friends.

Degree: Criminal Justice

The University of North Texas gave me a solid academic experience while earning my Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. The professors were knowledgeable and the coursework covered many important areas of the criminal justice system. However, one challenge I’ve faced since graduating is finding employment outside of traditional law enforcement roles. I wish the program had offered more guidance on alternative career paths and internships in related fields like compliance, investigations, or policy... Read More

The University of North Texas was an ok school. I attended both undergraduate and graduate school there from 2013-2018. I found that like most colleges, it is hard to navigate the system. My undergraduate program had large classes and felt like a cattle call where students can get lost as just a number. As a graduate student, I felt my professors knew who I was and actually cared. Student activities were ok, although support is lacking in helping students navigate the school. Academic advisors and... Read More

UNT definitely a very great school to attend if you have a tight budget. I met wonderful friends there that helped through ups and downs. I had great professors who supported and accepted me fully. The school has lots of free events from UPC on campus.

UNT is very difficult/different for non-traditional students. For this reason, I only recommend it to in person and on-campus “traditional” students. Denton is also not the easiest town, its small but very divided between college students and residents.

I have spent about 6 years attending the University of North Texas- my experience is full of mostly ups rather than downs. I pursued a music performance/education degree for my first bachelor's and had about the best experience I feel like most other music degree plans could not offer elsewhere.

Degree: Instructional Technology

UNT and the Department of Learning Technologies Graduate Program was a fantastic school with a top notch faculty that promoted academic excellence and research. My advisors worked with me to achieve my degree even though it took much longer than I had initially hoped. The faculty and my fellow classmates made my time at UNT special and a time to remember.

Overall pretty good. Most of the professors were of medium-high quality that care about their subject, but not all. The business building was relatively new and a nice place to study. The business capstone class was fairly interesting and put me into an environment that flourished in. However, I did not like that nearly every class used a 'test bank' at that point, in which students could locate the answers for the tests online if they paid a bit of money, ruining the integrity of the class. A huge... Read More

I enjoyed attending the University of North Texas for many different reasons. There were a wide variety of courses available to students regardless of their major. Even though I was a science major I was able to take several different music courses and beverage survey. I felt like I could customize my degree more so than at other universities that I had previously considered. UNT is also a highly diverse campus and I got to meet people from many different countries.

I did not find that my experience was great. I found that it was mid at best. The teachers seemed to just do the bare minimum and were not interested in truly helping the students. I found that this university was lacking and the advisors were pretty bad.

Degree: Data Science

Graduating in 2022 with a Bachelor of Science ( Data Science), my experience at the University of North Texas was, in fact, a good one. I compared it with a couple of other universities within Texas, and settled on UNT because the school had good programs and was not very expensive. The academic setup was supportive and organized. The coursework allowed me to develop practical, analytical, and technical skills that I apply in my day-to-day activities as a data analyst. Professors were free enough... Read More

UNT keeps screwing up my class schedule. They just simply don’t care!? Or they need the money that bad?? But I was supposed to graduate but I potentially can’t because I’m on a class waiting list AS A SENIOR!! And will have to take 1 single class next fall. I’m so frustrated. First they don’t even give me the degree that doesn’t even put on track to do what I want, while telling me it will (but only at their school? Since when does a school put you through sociology courses for a Psychology degree?... Read More

Overpriced, lack of critical thinking, absolutely horrible advisors, crappy payment plans. Most professors barely speak english, you will have trouble trying to understand any instructions given, and then they will get mad at the entire class for their incompetence. Good luck getting timely responses from anyone if its not about you paying the college. Most professors and departments rarely respond to you and it could be up to a month later. When you go through their support and they direct you to... Read More

UNT's Master of Science for Economics provides the most excellent education program you can receive at an affordable price. Even fully accredited schools with Ph.D. programs fail to deliver the same great experience UNT's Department of Economics provides. If you are interested in attaining a degree that maximizes your probability of getting a job or getting admitted to a Ph.D program, then UNT is the way to go!

The financial aid office or horrible and disorganized, it is now the end of fall semester and i still dont know where my financial aid is although studentaid.gov says they have it. As others have said you definitely will not get a reply via email and if you do it will not be a direct answer to your question or it will not be timely ( I understand covid but wven with that 2 weeks is not timely just to answer my questions). The University of North Texas has something for everyone. Campus-wide events, over 400 different student organizations, bike-friendly roads, and even a vegan cafeteria are just a few of the unique perks of attending UNT. I absolutely loved my time there. As the sixth-largest school in Texas, it has room for everyone to make a space for themselves to call home. I was a part of a poetry club and enjoyed rock climbing at the rec center. My roommate found her home with the Pokmon club and played intermural... Read More

This college is incredibly cost-efficient which is a big reason why I transferred here. I was originally at Austin College, but it was too expensive. UNT has some of the lowest student debt in the nation, and it's very easy to earn scholarships here. The campus is fairly easy to get around, but beware of classes being placed in buildings that don't match (I had American Literature in the Biology building and so on). The professors, especially for the English program, are incredibly nice, helpful,... Read More
