The school is pretty average, it doesn't have as many connections and can't get you great jobs as it's not very prestigious. Although there are ample opportunities for run of the mill jobs and some good academic value from school resources. Professors seem to be knowledgeable about there industry and some are willing to help.

I graduated from Ohio University with a bachelor's in education in 2017. I then went back there and earned a Master's Degree in Reading Education in 2019. During my college career the majority of my classes were in person with a handful of them being online. I feel that as an education major we were given adequate field experience, through student teaching and other hands-on experiences to help enrich our learning experience.

When I entered my master’s program, I knew that I had to take a trip to Athens, Ohio for a weekend as part of the curriculum. I was taken by surprise at how old and beautiful the campus is. It was clean and attractive, seemingly built on an endless supply of small hills. The buildings were all brick and the sidewalks were tree lined. It seemed like a pleasant place to take classes every day, and I was a bit envious of the students who lived there. There seems to be a strong backing of their respective... Read More

Ohio University is the oldest public university in Ohio and it shows. The campus is absolutely beautiful and historic. There are a large number of majors. There are so many different clubs and activities to get involved in. The alumni association is helpful once you graduate.

Ohio University was a wonderful place to go to college. I met some of my lifelong friends there and had many experiences that I will never forget. The academics were very good, your first year you’re in a lot of larger lecture halls but once you get passed all the general classes the classes become smaller and you’re able to have more one on one time with professors if needed. I would recommend Ohio University to anyone, the social aspect, the academics, it feels like a home away from home for me.... Read More

I have always said that college is 30% what you learn in the classroom and 70% what you learn outside the classroom. I believe that my education captured that balance just right. I believe that the students i went to school with taught me just as much as the classes. The teachers actions helped me feel seen (for the most part), and i enjoyed getting involved when i found my right path. I had to work for it though. it was not something that just magically was an easy thing and that i knew from the... Read More

I did not know that I would be attending Ohio University when I went for my first visit of the campus. There were five schools in Ohio that had the major I originally wanted to pursue. As soon as I stepped foot on the campus I fell in love. I didn't want to be so far from home, but something in my brain told me I needed to go there. It did not disappoint! I made so many talented friends and made so many great memories. The professors and classes were incredible and I always felt that I was not lost... Read More

The University environment is charming with its cobblestone small town and liberal vibe. The classes are engaging and there are always good conversations to be had on the green. The library is gigantic and expansive. As an historical college, old buildings and the occasional ghost really add to the annual Halloween party. Even though I graduated and never got a job in my field, I appreciate the time I had there.

Attending Ohio University was truly one of the most impactful experiences of my life. As a Studio Art major with a focus on Graphic Design, OU gave me every opportunity to grow creatively and professionally. The faculty in the art and design programs genuinely care about their students — they push you to experiment, think differently, and develop a strong creative voice. I left with skills and confidence that directly shaped my career in digital design and marketing.

My time at Ohio University has been great. It really feels to have gone by quicker than it should. There is always something to do and a lot to get involved in (over 550 student organizations). The professors, TA's, and advisors/staff of the College of Arts and Sciences, and everyone across the University is rooting for your success. The school does the best they can and when students bring something constructive to the table, it's typical they will do their best at accommodating. I would recommend... Read More

Ohio University prepared me to become the successful graduate student I am today. They have countless outreach programs for students needing assistance with career development, tutoring, or mental health resources. Getting involved in extracurricular activities is a great way to meet new people with common interests. The professors are extremely knowledgeable and are always available outside of class during office hours. While applying to graduate programs for speech-language pathology, I felt comfortable... I was hesitant about studying online and that too, the engineering subjects at Masters level. I decided to take one course and depending on how it goes, i further will decide. But to my surprise, the way university and professors take effort in teaching subjects, very thorough and i am completing my Master's in 2019. I will recommend everyone, especially people willing to do Master's while working.

I enjoyed my time at Ohio University. There are a lot of resources available to help in your education if you seek them. The campus is beautiful with many great places to study. As with any college, distractions are also easy to come by. If you stay focused on the literature you are provided and establish a relationship with your professors the distractions fade into the background.

Ohio University in my opinion is the best school. From the culture, to the academics, to the family you create, it was the best decision for me. I learned from some of the best professionals, and was challenged in many ways that led to great personal growth. Ohio University was about unity, and I got more involved than I ever did in high school. This was where I learned more about advocacy for others, the anti-trafficking movement, and about community. I would say before I went to Ohio University... Read More

From my first day of classes, my professors were dedicated, passionate and inspiring. I began classroom placements my sophomore year, much earlier than other universities. Ohio University got me started on the right path! I really enjoyed the campus. I grew up in a small town, but adjusting to the somewhat larger Athens was easy. There is plenty of nature at almost every point of not just the campus, but also the town itself. Downtown and the campus are very walk-able. I experienced living both on and off campus and enjoyed both. If you live off campus, you should invest in a car for the most convenience. It may not be the best campus for people with disabilities because... Read More
