Last year, I decided to pursue a new career after lots of changes in my life. Fast forward to when I complete my program and graduate with honors. I start working with a career advisor whose job is to guide students in things like resum茅s, interview questions, and especially where it鈥檚 ideal to job hunt with my new certification. We would spend an hour together on the phone every few weeks going over my LinkedIn profile, what should and should not be on my resum茅, and even consoled some of my fears with future interviews. My first confusing scenario was being told I had access to my career advisor for 3 months. My last day of class was February 28th, and our first meeting was mid-February. We had a total of 4 visits together in a two month span, the last being April 15 which she deemed our last visit. I expressed to her my concerns that I had put in so many job applications since February (a total of 96 by then), and had received no call backs or interviews, only denials. She said it had to do with the number of applicants and that it 鈥渏ust takes time.鈥� I explained to her that some applications I was hunting down that had just been posted that day, or even 30 mins prior, so I was not applying to old listings. She continued to repeat that I just needed to be patient as it would take time, and that I needed to 鈥減ersevere.鈥� I asked her if the resum茅 that she put together for me maybe needed to be reevaluated and altered, but she said it was fine and I鈥檇 eventually get calls.
I have now submitted a total of 142 applications since the middle of February. I鈥檝e had no call backs or interviews. I took the initiative of submitting my resum茅 to a close friend who works for another prestigious University, who then forwarded it to her boss who has a Masters Degree in education. It was presented to me by both of them that the resum茅 was put together very poorly and didn鈥檛 target the audience I was aiming for with the jobs I鈥檝e been pursuing. I began feeling less supported by the advisor who told me I could inform her of any updates with interviews, but again my concerns had been invalidated so I did not feel like she could give me the advice I was looking for to succeed. Considering she was aware that I am currently unemployed, I expected some compassion as my fear has been growing that I won鈥檛 find a career in this field. At our last visit, I asked her if DeVry had a connection with any companies/practices/hospitals that openly look for new graduates post graduation. Her only response was no, and to keep navigating the DeVry job board. I applied for jobs on the school job board, indeed, LinkedIn, ZipRecruiter, and Glass door. I am not limiting myself to specific job descriptions or locations. Overall, DeVry has NOT in anyway guided me through this process or provided any sort of support beyond my graduation and being a good student. As of April 21, 2025, almost two months since graduation, I have not been interviewed or accepted to any positions in the field certification I just spent tens of thousands of dollars to acquire. Devry over promises and under delivers, and makes adults feel as though they can change their life and help support their dreams, when in fact their goal is to recruit students for status and money.

I would not recommend Devry for students that want to develop their career or gain new skills. This is not the place.

This institution does not provide a comparable education to traditional 2 or 4 year schools, nor is the education transferable to a career in business. I took these classes through Devry because they are easier than a local university; there is minimal interaction between students and the professor and the quality of the education was frankly a joke. I could have sourced better lesson... Read More plans from the internet or ChatGPT and would have learned more. At best, the courses I took had not been updated for 15 years.

The courses I took were inferior to comparable courses I attended during my undergraduate and graduate courses at other institutions. I would not recommend Devry for any student that is serious about their education.

I took these courses for CPA credits, but I wish I had actually learned something along the way.

The WORST school experience ever. They do not care about you at all. Once they get your money, they do not care if you fail or succeed. Constantly given the wrong information about the program and costs. I was also given no help to schedule my RHIT exam. I was told they didn't have the resources to help me schedule the exam when they are an accredited program. I think that is absolutely ridiculous that they cannot provide advice and resources for an exam that is required to get a job with this degree.... Read More

They don't seem to comprehend that if the program that is strictly for student attendance is not accessible for the week on day one and closes no matter what at the day 7 of each week and cannot be accessed or posted in after day 7 of the exact week then how are they supposed to attend school and if they cannot access it without doing homework for that week or looking and doing things for the class itself and nobody tells them then they can't attend school so they did all their homework for no reason... Read More I know there is no way in this world that I am being only student at this University who has applied for cyber security and got put into their first introductory of Internet of things class where they failed me out they refused to accept the post of it in the only access I had then they want to say it's all my fault so no I don't recognize this school to anyone run find somewhere else they're just going to cause you more they're going to cause you to fill out and then blame you for it my name is Liz so yeah

The teachers were very good but the course material was ok. I tested out of ridiculous simple courses like building PC's. My problem is the reputation of the school, it's barely better than ITT. I can't count how many times I've been told that my Cisco certifications were more valuable than my Bachelors of Science degree from Devry. My certs were the cost of a book plus $150 for a test and my Bachelors left me with $75k in student debt even though I had to pay monthly while in school.

Also I mysteriously... Read More ended up with a "private" loan (I'm not sure if this was for some sort of kickback or not so be careful of trusting their financial aide department) in one semester that couldn't be consolidated with the rest of my loans. So when I consolidated my student loans, this one wasn't included and nobody told me.

Since I didn't know about it, I ended up with one "defaulted" loan that was instantly a extra $10k that I still had to pay off, because while it doesn't have the same rules as other student loans, it still gets the same protections. (Thank you Devry and Wachovia) I graduated 20 years ago, but I still owe about $15k paying the monthly payments.

Tried to point out a flaw in an assignment and showed them where ambiguity was showing instead of clear concise directions of what is expected for the assignment and everyone up to the Dean has been unable to show me otherwise and just decide to side with the Moronic Professor. I informed them that I was willing to discuss the issue in length, but no one reached out other than by email which isn't conducive to a discussion but meh...Also told them I was more than willing to do the extra stuff they... Read More were requesting if they could rewrite the instructions so they were clear and concise as to what is expected of the students...that wasn't done either; mind you this was a Training and Development course...guess you would think clear and concise instructions would be a non-issue for a class like this since that is a key component to any training and development plan. Now they can reap the consequences of failing to take in outside information from lowely students with the fact that my reviews will hurt their bottom line to some degree. Even if I only ever reach 1% of all people looking into going to that school and they decide to go somewhere else, that is a lot of cash over a lifetime. Guess they forgot that while I am only just a student I am the client. Also, it is rather annoying that they think that everyone in attendance is getting their first Master's degree and that we don't know jack...not like I am starting my third Master's at a different college this summer...Good luck DeVry!
