I graduate the Digital Cinematography program in 2 months. I had never worked in videography nor had any experience filming, writing, or producing anything. Full Sail is one of the most prestigious schools in the nation for hands on learning and staying ahead of the industry with its high standardized class work. The University plans its class structure off monthly curriculums that reflect how the industry operates and changes over time. The classes allow you to save your progress and to reflect back into those completed courses when a refresher is needed. Through online forms and on site class activities, the learning curve is at an all time high. This allows you to get the assistance you need while able to find out the hard questions that you will find out later in the industry. Full Sail is one of the colleges that has a very different approach than other institutions. Each class offers something different form the industry, but when you get through it, you will see that all the classes add up to give your the best results and material to succeed in the industry. They equip you with all the essentials for when you land your first or dream position in the field.

School promises a lot of hands on learning but, being forced to spend over half the degree on irrelevant trainings/classes and about 60% of the time the classes are just "YouTube" courses. It feels like i could have spent half the money for triple the training. In fact during my time at the school I did pay to get additional training and due to feeling like so many things are skipped or brushed through. I was lied to, I was told they looked up my high school and with it being a self pace school it would be not be a problem with me attending college. But after allowing me to start they told me I had until 25 of July to get everything in they needed they sent me a email on 14 with concerning needing my diploma since my transcript was good enough so I had until the 15 to get it in. They said that a ged was more except able which made so since. And if I wanted to start over I would have to go take a GED test. So they dont keep there word on anything

Full sail started out as a good school and I got good grades but I had a bad teacher who didn't like online students. He kept accusing me of cheating and failing me and I went through a council to appeal it and they didn't care and didn't do anything about it. Not only the the people on the council knew nothing about my program so it made sense for them to side with the instructor and everytime I wrote a complaint they defended the teacher and the class is a 2 attempt class, so they withdrew me from... It was a waste of my time going through this school just to get withdrawn because a instructor doesn't like online students and they just allowed it. FullSail is a great learning institution. The staff makes it feel like a family. The online learning experience was a scary one, but the amount of support from the FullSail community was so helpful in my progress gave the online experience on unbelievable feeling. Online learning can be very difficult at times, but FullSail is always there to give you the push you need of encouragement as well as support. Full Sail University, like all colleges, has its ups and downs. The most significant aspect for me was being able to pursue my education online and graduate with a bachelor's degree in under three years. I could work at my own pace and from anywhere, which worked well with my nomadic lifestyle. I also enjoyed how the majority of the courses were directly related to my degree program, and most assignments gave me free rein to decide the direction of the projects. As someone who works and learns well... Read More on my own, this format worked well for me. After graduating, I feel much more prepared to enter the graphic design industry. With that said, there are some negatives to be aware of. Although I left FS with a significantly larger knowledge base than I had before, it was somewhat frustrating that a substantial portion of the online coursework centered on LinkedIn Learning and YouTube videos. The courses were great; however, it would have been better if FS had developed these in-house, rather than relying on courses created outside the school. It does make it seem a bit like, "Could I have done this on my own?" Secondly, I had many classes where the communication from the instructors was quite poor. Between delayed responses and, most significantly, lack of helpful (or any) feedback, I was often frustrated with the level of engagement from the instructors. Many were fantastic, but the majority seemed to do the bare minimum. I did graduate valedictorian, so this didn't disrupt my learning significantly. However, it was a pain point. Lastly, as the programs are accelerated, you must be really invested and have excellent time management skills to keep up. Currently, five months past graduation, I find myself having to revisit and practice many skills. For example, we would learn a software program in one month, then another the next month, with a total of about four different software programs. Once the initial class was over and we had learned the basics, we might not touch that software again for months and/or be expected to build upon the tiny bit we had learned. So, although I learned a lot, in a way, I feel more like I learned a little about a lot. However, anyone can learn software, so I would say that the most valuable thing I gained from this experience is the graphic design knowledge, including principles, theories, and trends. This knowledge is invaluable, as I can always practice in the software; however, without an understanding of design principles, my designs would not be effective. Despite the negatives, I thoroughly enjoyed every class and feel as well-prepared as any recent college graduate entering the workforce in my new field. My advice if you choose FS: be dedicated and prepared to work your butt off! Be persistent, and reach out to instructors, student advisors, or even course directors as much as you need until you get the answers you need. I see many people complain about this school for these reasons, but ultimately, you're in control of the outcome, you can take it how it is, or make sure it's exactly what you need it to be.

Of course, balancing such an intensive program with daily life wasn鈥檛 without its sacrifices. I gave up a lot of personal time to ensure that my assignments and projects were not only completed on time, but done to the best of my ability. However, that discipline and commitment helped sharpen my work ethic and deepened my appreciation for the field.

This program didn鈥檛 just give me a degree鈥攊t prepared me for the future. I gained valuable technical skills, confidence in my abilities, and a clearer vision for where I want to go next in my career. I鈥檓 incredibly grateful for my time at Full Sail and would recommend it to anyone serious about elevating their expertise in computer science.

Classes are accelerated and each takes only a month to complete. This, in my opinion, was great. It kept things fresh, and allowed you to dedicate yourself fully to a project at a time rather than spreading yourself thin between 3-4 classes. Plus, if you weren鈥檛 a major fan of a classes subject (cough cough, I鈥檓 looking at you college mathematics) you weren鈥檛 stuck there for the length of a traditional semester.
This isn鈥檛 really a testing school, rather a project school that allows you to practically apply your skills. Now, don鈥檛 get me wrong, there are tests at some point, but you don鈥檛 have to wager your grade on hoping you remember what a single button in Premiere Pro can do. Project based work at Full Sail allowed my class to be creative with everything we did.
Your student success team does care about you. They will call to check on you, they will help you find jobs, and even write you recommendation letters. Just because you graduate doesn鈥檛 mean they don鈥檛 care about you anymore. In fact, they call me more now as a graduate than as a student. Utilize these services because you鈥檙e paying for them!

When I applied, they weren鈥檛 weirdly trying to push me into committing to something I wasn鈥檛 ready for. They鈥檙e human and they treat you like one. I鈥檝e gone to universities where they treat interactions with potential students like a car salesman. You don鈥檛 have to worry about that with Full Sail.
If you have the opportunity and the funds, then Full Sail is an incredible place to receive your education from. There is even bragging rights that come from attending. It鈥檚 a prestigious institution! Good luck :)

Please think about your schooling options for at least a year before deciding to attend this university, because despite it being more affordable than most art schools out there, 90% of the cases I've seen it's not worth it. You don't even really need a degree for most art career paths, I would genuinely suggest teaching yourself through online tutorials on your own free time than to attend this school. It's extremely expensive, and for what you get in return I don't think I got my money's worth.... I pushed through my degree because I was already in debt to the school, and I decided that dropping out would just be a waste. Some of my professors were genuinely good teachers, but I'd say 60% of them were not very attentive, gave poor instruction, and I ended up almost failing their classes. The in person schedule is extremely rigorous, but if you plan on going to school here I do recommend it over the online option they provide. I had to work to pay my rent during my time at school, so that was not really an option for me. It's extremely difficult to retain connections when following the online option, the workload is harder to manage, and you get less instruction. I just genuinely don't think this school is worth it no matter what your career goals are, and I wouldn't recommend it to anybody. I still regret attending to this day
