I attended the University of Florida for both my undergraduate and graduate degrees, and I would absolutely choose to attend again if given the opportunity. Attending sports events was always exciting, and there was a strong sense of camaraderie and school spirit throughout the community (Go Gators!). Overall, my experience at UF was incredibly rewarding, and I remain very grateful for the education, experiences, and connections I gained there.

As a doctoral student, I have found the academic community here to be both challenging and supportive. Though I was a transfer from community college and didn't get the full four-year experience, I feel the time I spent at the University of Florida was very valuable and the education I received was an excellent one, even if I may have some gripes with some of the finer details.

Read More only one commuter lot which is on the very outskirts of campus, but the local bus system is fairly reliable and I generally never had issues making it to my classes and exams on time.

I took quite a few engaging and interesting classes during my time at UF, and UF has many professors who are passionate about what they teach and who seem invested in the success of their students. UF's classes are quite rigorous, and I definitely struggled in a few of mine, but I felt for the most part that the courses themselves were "fair" as far as the amount of time I had to prepare for exams and the amount of content those exams covered.

UF is a great place to meet people - even as someone who would call themselves very introverted, I was able to make many good friends during my time there through clubs and other social activities as well as within my classes. There is definitely a lot of school spirit to go around and I felt the school had a strong sense of community.

My main complaints as far as UF goes involve the actual scheduling of classes. Perhaps I was just unlucky, and I know to some extent it is just determined by luck, but it seems like every single semester when it came time to sign up for classes I was placed in a time slot that left me picking at the scraps. I had many awful, awful schedules often with big, awkward gaps between classes, and it seemed very often like there was absolutely nothing I could do about any of it.

Overall, though, I quite enjoyed my experience at UF and look back on it fondly.

UF had great professors and programs, and on top of that, so many opportunities to enhance your education, with clubs, study-abroad, unique programs, etc. It truly felt like anyone at the school had great opportunities that were there for them to take if they chose to do so. I would recommend the University of Florida to literally everyone and anyone. The value of the education for the dollar spent is off the charts and I do not think it can be beat. The University of Florida is truly an everything school. UF is underrated as an academic school, they are a leading researcher in the nation and have amazing hospitals. For accountants, engineers, finance, nursing and education majors the job placement is up there with anyone in America. Besides that, you kind of have to fend for yourself and network on your own. Luckily, the Gator alumni network is extensive if you look hard enough. If you are considering the University of Florida, you should choose it.

I was so very excited to study ag communications and extension, but since the focus is not on agriculture, but rather on "leadership" and other mostly unrelated things like "culturalism," unfortunately I didn't learn and grow as well as I could with this degree from UF, everything I did out of class was more impactful. Only pursue this major if you want to stay in Florida after you graduate, if you want to leave Florida once you graduate, major in something else and minor in AEC, or just go out-of-state to a college people respect in the agriculture industry, that is not UF.

I was a student at the University of Florida from 2021 to May 2024. I graduated with a Bachelors of science in Microbiology and minors in Pathogenesis and Anthropology. Overall, I am very satisfied with the in classroom experience that I had at the University of Florida. I think the education quality was excellent, labs were set up to teach students well, and I was surrounded by students who had a similar mindset to what I had at the time. During my time on campus, their seemed to be a great deal of harmony across all majors. Maybe that was due to me attending before 2016 but people seemed to get along great.
