Overall, I am very satisfied with the in classroom experience that I had at the University of Florida. I think the education quality was excellent, labs were set up to teach students well, and I was surrounded by students who had a similar mindset to what I had at the time. During my time on campus, their seemed to be a great deal of harmony across all majors. Maybe that was due to me attending before 2016 but people seemed to get along great. Plenty of fun bars to go to around campus as well.

Overall I enjoyed my time at the University of Florida. It provided me with great connections, opportunities, and memories. It truly feels like a community to be a Florida Gator. Conversely, the system is not entirely organized - students struggle to enroll in necessary courses during drop-add, there's no structured way to navigate the resources (e.g., clubs and student organizations) on campus, and sometimes the experience can feel isolating. I wouldn't trade my time at UF for the world. Being in an environment where the vast majority of the students are very academically inclined and are incredible motivated to succeed helped to motivate me to push and seek out new opportunities to grow both academically and professionally. The campus is really beautiful as well so it's nice to spend time on campus studying or hanging out with friends. I had an amazing and well-rounded college experience at University of Florida. As a pre-medical track student, the classes of the foundational curriculum were comprehensive and well-instructed, with plenty of resources available for extra help. These classes proved foundational for my eventual medical education. Furthermore, my degree implored me to take a diverse range of classes outside of the basic sciences, like Theater Appreciation and various psychology classes, which helped me retain and learn... I was in the Honors College and had access to several exclusive classes like Music and Health, which combined a longstanding personal interest of mine with the career I chose to go into. In fact, UF allowed me to continue to pursue my interests in music despite the demands of the pre-medical track. I was in the UF Concert Choir for all 4 years of college.
Beyond that, UF's Center for Arts in Medicine provided numerous educational, service, and research opportunities. I volunteered at the hospital through the Center for most of my time in college, took several of the Center's classes, completed a research project, and was their first graduate for their Certificate in Music in Medicine. Since then, I saw they have expanded the program to have both a research and clinical track.
Beyond all of those things, I also just personally had a great time there. It was a big school with lots of student groups, and I found many like-minded people who have become lifelong friends. I was very social but not a big 'partier,' but I found group activities that I loved (like swing dancing!). I even met my now-fiance there during week 1, and we've been together for over 11 years.
All of the above is to say, my experience was fulfilling in just about every way. After UF, I was accepted to Baylor College of Medicine for medical school, a highly-renowned institution which is notoriously difficult to be accepted to if you're from out-of-state. I think the opportunities I took at UF were unique and made me stand out among a sea of pre-med applicants. Now, I am a doctor, specifically a pediatrician who is completing fellowship to subspecialize in child abuse pediatrics. Overall, I'm very grateful for my time at UF. I lived, laughed, and learned so much, and it set the stage for me to pursue my dream career at highly-renowned institutions. That and I got my wonderful partner!

The University of Florida is a great school. Being an online student, I never felt isolated because many (not all) of the classes are live lectures that are given to campus resident students. They are recorded for flexibility. Also, advising and the IT dept are very responsive and helpful. I will say that my Computer Science curriculum could be challenging at times, as well as some classes I needed to take as a transfer student, such as Physics II. I would recommend taking Calc I, II, III, Physics... Read More I, and II outside of UF if you are a transfer student - it will also make you a more competitive applicant.

During my time at the University of Florida, it was the best years of my life. UF not only taught me the education I needed to complete my degree, but it also taught me how to be a better person and how to manage the real word around me. My education at UF prepared me for life after college and what to expect in the work field. The University of Florida (UF) is a great choice for students seeking a college education in Florida. The academic offerings are among the best in the state, and there are many extracurricular activities, clubs, sports events, etc. for students to participate in. There is a variety among those offerings as well, so there is something for everyone, regardless of individual interests. The engineering graduate school at UF was a mixed bag. As a top tier school in the State of Florida, UF has a lot of good amenities for students as well as a multitude of opportunities to work in labs and gain real experience while enrolled. On paper there is a lot to enjoy about the university. I mostly had good quality professors who were intelligent and helpful. One professor stood out to me as horrible though. His class was 4 grades: a midterm, two homeworks, and a final all relatively equally... Read More graded. One mistake basically dooms your grade with no hope of recovery. I went to their office hours and asked what my paths forward were after doing not so well on the midterm. They told me verbatim "You know, graduate school isn't for everyone." They basically insisted that I give up and drop out. There was also a complete lack of professionalism for any issue outside of the classroom. From being redirected on phone calls in the administration office 10x over, to being told "Sorry we can't help you." in emails, the level of care above the faculty level was abysmal. It felt like they received my money and didn't care about what happened afterwards. I was just a paycheck and a statistic to them, not a student.
