I went to Texas A&M University–Commerce for both my Bachelor’s in Education and my Master’s in Curriculum & Instruction (2014), with a minor in Special Education. I also completed my Texas Teacher Certification there.

Overall, I felt really prepared going into the classroom. The instructors were supportive and practical—not just theory, but things you actually use as a teacher. The Special Education focus was especially helpful in understanding different student needs.

My experience at Texas A&M University-Commerce was a true insight into the greed and wastefulness of the Texas A&M University System. The worst advisor I have ever come into contact with was promoted, the school is underfunded and pouring money into degree paths and programs that aren't growing while the single degree path that has doubled in size in 3 years has the same amount of teachers it had in the 1990s. Student spirit is non-existent because everyone who is there chose it because they either... Read More couldn't get into A&M College Station or didn't have enough money to go anywhere else. While there are bright spots especially in the Agriculture department and in certain other programs I came into contact with. Do not for any reason consider this college for anything other than a price saving matter. Leadership especially at provost and president level are only concerned with prestige and not what's best for the college moving up to division 1 was only for a resume for this people and not for the good of the school. It is always under construction for things to make the college better but always run out of money and prioritize taking away what little parking there is for an "alumni center". I will repeat myself do not attend this university if you can help it.

While I've had some professors at Commerce who were dedicated and provided a quality education, my overall experience has been disappointing. I've often felt ignored by staff when addressing issues, particularly with financial aid and other concerns. Additionally, I've encountered professors lacking in-depth knowledge of their subjects. I've obtained both a bachelor's degree in psychology and a master's degree in education administration. My degree is Secondary Ed with a minor (18 hours) of MATH so that I can teach Dual Credit or adjunct at a community college . Secondary Ed has been great! But don't go to Commerce for any graduate MATH if you have similar goals. The courses are meant for M.S. and Ph.D. students in Math only. They are entirely unreasonable for in-service teachers. They offer very few courses that are meant for students from outside of their department. And the few they do offer are very rarely put on the schedule.... Read More The 3-year course schedule is inaccurate; don't try to use it do any planning. The department chair will advise you to take MTE courses, but don't!!! They will not enable to you teach DC or CC. I can't stress this enough... go elsewhere. for graduate MATH courses.

I was an international student at this school. I still remember the first week I attended this school I had to buy a car immediately to commute from Commerce to my class in Mesquite and McKinney. It was a quite challenging but it has developed me to be a quick adjusted person to a new culture and environment. Texas A&M University at Commerce is a relatively small college located in a town that can hardly be classified as a town. The town has one Walmart, one Brookshires, and plenty of fast food. Thats fine, organizations give out free stuff all the time on campus! The cafeteria is a must because its buffet style with actual really good food. And you can stay all day if you wanted to (it has really good WiFi access). The library staff is very friendly with whatever you need, and they are always so helpful if you need to find resources for papers or projects. There are even little study rooms that you can rent to study with a group or by yourself without being disturbed by others around you. There are two, count them TWO, Starbucks on campus, and other eateries. I would absolutely encourage potential students to at least tour the campus. The campus has such a warm feel to it. Student Accounts and Financial Aid are always so helpful with any needs or questions you may have, and the tuition rates are competitive to the big brand schools such as Texas A&M University or University of Texas. I love the school, and I love my memories I have there.

You will not find another AACSB (gold standard) accredited college for this price. Some of that is reflected in the quality of the online portal, and the classes are quite full so it can be a little tough to get instructor interaction. However, it has not been a problem for me. If you are dependent on an MBA to radically change the course of your life, then you should probably aim a little upwards; but if you are simply looking to learn about business decision-making (particularly if, like me, you are in the military with no expsosure to fundamentals of accounting, finance, and marketing) then this is right up your alley. Texas A& M University - Commerce is absolutely phenomenal. I picked from a myriad of different schools and somehow chose TAMUC. The instructors are diligent and knowledgeable, the Financial Aid office is warm and welcoming and the southern hospitality was at an all time high. The degree program was rigorous enough to make me feel like my degree was worth the money but I still felt I was learning and retaining information at a great pace. I am an international student came here to study masters in technology management program. Firstly the program " Masters in Technology Management" doesn't have anything tech in the course. Most of the syllabus revolves around drones, project management and leadership. The program doesn't have any internship or CPT which is a huge disadvantage. There are no scholarships available for this course. This is more like a mini PHD where in you have to do so much research on several topics which are absolutely... The professors are only bothered about having research in APA format and doing coursework like a research with no relevance to the practical corporate world. As an international student, i took this course with a hope to get some practical exposure like internship and getting placed in a technology company. But i have wasted all my TIME, MONEY and EFFORT on this useless course. The professors are very much involved in their research work and least interested in teaching or helping students be prepared for corporate world.

This school is awesome! Top notch education that prepared me for life during and after 20 years of military service. I was most impressed by the involvement of the professors in student success.
