I really enjoyed my experience attending my classes here. The students and professors are extremely nice and are always there for us. Food is great on campus and there are plenty of activities to do outside of class. One of my fondest memories was staying after class to talk to my coach. He really saw me and helped me get better.

The school was really close to home and very diverse. The issue was that parking was always full and hard to get good teachers. They had free commuter passes for public transportation and had a lot of resources available. Overall friendly staff but waitlist for a bunch of good teachers.

Overall, a decent college with many job opportunities. Some buildings are new and some outdated. I would definitely utilize the gym since you pay in tuition and it’s very nice inside. Lots of food options near campus. However, it is commuter heavy and parking is very hard unless you have early morning classes.

Professors were all great. Campus was fairly clean. Classes I took were paper heavy but manageable. I attended mostly in person but did take a few online courses as well. Some of these professors still love to give you 10+ page reports and in front of class presentations but overall it was a good experience.

My time at San Jose State was filled with lots of organization mismanagement and tedious issues like lack of available classes that detracted from the school experience. SJSU is also a commuter dominant college, so myself living on campus joined the greek life to be more involved in the smaller social scene of the area. While I was going there, the campus was heavily under construction so I believe newer students will reap the benefits of new facilities that I was unable too. SJSU's drop out rates,... Read More

It was a definitely a commuter school. Everyone came from off campus and don't really have a community there. I spent most of my time in the engineering building. If you don't job a club or your classmates it can be very lonely. The food was decent but could have been better. The professors were alright. Nothing great but a lot of self learning.

The Environmental Studies Bachelor's degree program at San Jose State gave me a well-rounded holistic education that included courses in statistics, lab sciences, law, and resource management. It was a great experience for me that allowed me to target specific areas of interest when furthering my career and education.

Strictly from an academics point of view, the school curriculum is very behind the times. Of course when I went there it was many years ago so this info could be outdated now. The CS program back then had many classes that were very much not relevant today. They did not even go over common things like GIT/Github. Most of the classes were basic or theory related, and don't really help with real world environments. I imagine now its probably a lot worse with AI. You probably will be far behind peers... San Jose State has an amazing online MLIS program for anyone who wants to work while getting their education. The process from applying to graduating was very straightforward. I worried that with how easy the process was, there would be a lot of people making it difficult to get classes I was interested in. This never happened and I was always able to take the classes I wanted. They also offer fast support if you have important questions about your degree or graduation.

School was pretty good; I really liked most of my professors and my classes weren't bad for the most part. The curriculum was pretty good, and the school was not very expensive to attend. The campus is alright. Overall, it was a good experience. Only thing lacking was that it was mostly a commuter school, so it was hard to make friends.

San Jose State University is a great school for students looking for an affordable option with quality education. I found the University to be diverse, spacious, clean and professors are qualified. Since it is a State University it did lack the UC experience and most people come home after their classes.

Degree: Data Analytics

I attended San Jose State University from Fall 2022 up until May 2025. I was in the online Information Science & Data Analytics undergraduate program. I would say overall the program has been nothing but great for me. The different types of classes are from cyber security, data science, information security, etc. They all taught very well, and I got out numerous skills and knowledge from each of them. The professors for my school were excellent as well. Even though it was an online program, the connection... Read More

Although I would not immediately recommend this program to just anybody that is interested, it MIGHT be an ideal program in a particular situation depending on the student's career path and what they want and expect from this degree. However, my impression of the curriculum in this online graduate degree program is that it is more of an OVERVIEW or SURVEY of informatics in general. Each semester is divided in half with courses being 9 weeks in length. This time frame worked out fine for some courses,... Read More

Degree: Data Science

Avoid the UW Data Science master's programs at all costs! The professors didn't really teach anything at all. Normally i would be fine with this, if they would just give us books to read or other sources to study from. But the material they provided did not actually cover what we were expected to learn. They prided themselves on their website & chatsite to give information, but they still didn't use it to teach anything, and the sites were not as impressive as other free options elsewhere. All they... Read More

This university makes me feel that the US is now a 3rd world country! Make no mistake and avoid this place! Why aren't news casters reporting and investigating on the poor education system that is on the side of criminals rather than students and its own people? Someone needs to report these to the general public and protect their own people! This university gives people a hard time, not in a challenging way. I feel that I barely escaped by leaving the area as its been drastically hit by crime and... Read More

San Jose State University is a great college to attend to further your education. Since I have graduated there have been many changes around the campus that really feels like a top of the line school. A new recreation center, a new pool, new dorm rooms built for students. However, just like any college there are pros and cons. One con to consider is the area. With being located in the middle of downtown there are some dangers that can arise when there due to the homeless population. Another to consider... Read More

SJSU is a great college for those looking to major in engineering or business. Sitting in the heart of the Bay Areas texhnindustry, most other schools on campus fell by the wayside and went unnoticed, the Arts especially. The Art building is one of the oldest on campus and still has yet to be renovated. It sits there as sad proof that the university does not care about the humanities. The science department, specifically the chemistry department, at San Jose State is very much underrated. The faculty is exceptional and has a good list of publications. In the biochemistry side of the department, there are many young teachers with fresh approaches to the classroom. The labs are reasonably sized, so each student gets a good amount of hands-on time and practical experience.

The professors and faculty have students in their best interest and really care about how they improve and succeed both personally and academically. I applied here on a whim, and glad I did. The graduate program here changed my life and Im looking forward to how it will change the lives of other students - both current and prospective.
