Overall, my experience and Utah State was positive. The educators were knowledgeable, and passionate about the subjects they were teaching. They taught the fundamentals clearly and I enjoyed the subject matter. Even the courses that aren't typically interesting (art, writing) were taught in an entertaining well. The campus is in a quiet city, so unless you like the outdoors there isn't much life outside the campus. For my degree in particular, the Electrical Engineering program is very programming... Read More heavy. If this is what you enjoy, then this is a great school. There is also a rich history of space systems, and they offer majors in spacecraft systems. However, if these course aren't your preferred classes I would consider elsewhere for an Electrical Engineering program.

I really enjoyed my experience at USU. Unlike most other public universities in Utah, USU is a true residential campus, with most students living away from their home. It gives USU a great sense of community, at least during the week. A lot of students do tend to go home over weekends. The campus community is big enough to provide something for almost everyone, regardless of background. The Logan area is great if you like the outdoors, with many mountains, canyons, and lakes providing ample opportunities... Read More for recreation. Like many large universities, the first year general education classes can be quite large, but as you get deep in to your major, you will find smaller classes and greater opportunities to connect with your professors. USU is great when it comes to value, with one of the lowest in-State tuition costs for a large public university. Even with non-resident tuition, USU is still a great value. I feel USU set me up well for my career, and with an enjoyment long term learning.

USU is a great school overall. As long as you're willing to put in some effort to meet people, you'll make some good friends and find social circles. My experience with the Computer Science program was rather mixed. There were some professors that really care about teaching and giving you relevant skills, but it seems like the majority are just there to get a paycheck, and they don't really care at all about what you learn from the class. To have any solid skills that will help you get a job post-graduation, you'll need to work on plenty of your own side projects and/or find a good part-time job in the software engineering field to build your resume.

First off, I am aware I'm a bit of an anomaly. I could not dislike USU more due to my experiences with them. I had to do a medical withdrawal in 2013, but due to a professor not submitting documentation of any class performance to the registrar, they put me on academic probation. Medical issues abated in 2019, so I met with a disciplinary board (literally 12 people) to plead why I should be able to return. After explaining it was a singular professor in the Ag department that this issue stemmed from,... Read More they allowed me to come back under a 2 page disciplinary contract. Again. Not my fault. I tried to prompt the professor to submit that via email, calls, calls to his private business, roommates visiting him (I was in a hospital bed.) No acceptance of responsibility on their end, an apology for the misunderstanding, or failing that, even just letting me come back with a clean slate due to a staff mistake from USU. One of the requirements was to meet with a student counselor. He was an hour late for my first 2 appointments. Yep. I was done with their staff after that. Some of the professors are awesome, I had great experiences with the German department, as well as the Social Studies professors. Unfortunately most of my experience was negative. There was very much the government "Eh. Good 'nough." attitude. The city of Logan was awesome, I stayed there 5 years before finally moving. It struck a really good balance of big enough for many amenities, without being massive like SLC. I could not have been more displeased with USU and their staff however. I wasted several years pursuing a degree before realizing my money and effort was better used elsewhere.

Utah State has been an amazing experience for me. There are three universities in my state that provide a program for civil engineering. Upon researching the three schools, I thought that Utah State University would be the right fit for me, and I don't regret it at all. Overall I had a great experience at Utah State University. It's located in Logan, UT, which is a relatively small community in northern Utah (about 40,000 people). Despite the size, the University has quality faculty and decent student resources for the most part. In my case, I spent most of my time in the business school, which had received a significant financial donation, which definitely helped increase the academic quality. The students, professors, and overall environment were very positive... Read More and professional. The one thing I wished the business school there would have done better at though is career services and career guidance. I didn't feel like, at the time at least, the career services were as robust as they could have been. Hopefully that's changed now - since I left they've received additional donations and have even added on a new, state-of-the-art building. But I ended up with a good job at a great company, and being a grad from Utah State didn't hold me back from that.

For those seeking a Climate Master's Program at Utah State University, I would highly recommend seeking out the climate-related professors in the Watershed Department at Utah State University (USU). The professors in the Climate Program at USU tend to be harder to get along with, and not as willing to see the unique perspectives of other students, especially those with special needs. The professors in the Watershed Department at USU have a very high level of understanding in their field and care most deeply about the student. During my time at USU, there were several instances in which Climate Professors made statements against students that we belittling, condescending, or would cause a normal student not to feel completely safe. Professors from the Watershed Department also experienced professors from the Climate Program acting off of aggression towards their students. So, for someone who doesn't do well with an aggressive professor, I would highly recommend seeking out the Climate Professors in the Watershed Department at USU. The Major Professor that I had in the Watershed Department at USU was very caring towards me, other students, and about student needs, and would always reach out to do what was best for the student. The Watershed Department was also very on top of things and very organized with their Graduate Adviser that helped with forms, thesis, and other stuff always on the ball, and also very caring about the students in his program. In general Utah State University is a great community, and you can meet a lot of people and make a lot of friends here. I just highly recommend the Watershed Department, and NOT the Climate Program.

I graduated from USU with a dual major in Special Education Severe/Profound and Early Childhood Disabilities (Birth-5). I loved my time at USU. For the most part I felt that my professors were involved, committed, and very knowledgable in their subjects. I enjoyed going to class and learning. I felt that tuition was fairly priced. Read More advisor was very helpful, though I had heard other students feel like that didn't have the same experience with her. Overall, I loved my time in the program. There is a lot of off-campus housing within walking distance to campus which made it easy to walk to class everyday without paying for a parking pass. I would recommend looking into the clubs and groups located at USU, there are SO many. They have renovated a lot of campus since I graduated to make it more accessible to students to walk all around campus. There are always fun events going on all over campus as well. There are also so many highly ranked degrees and programs of study available at USU. All of the buildings are well maintained and easy to navigate. They have an on-campus student recreation center that is one of the best gyms I've ever been to. There are so many opportunities at USU, i definitely recommend checking it out!

I had a wonderful experience at Utah State University. I transferred there from Snow College and spent three years completing my bachelor's degree. As a transfer student I didn't experience much of their general education requirements, but I had a fantastic experience working with the history department faculty. I loved the Communicative Disorders Department. The professors were friendly, always willing to talk. Most of my professors knew me by name. The environment was open for discussion and diverse opinions. Communicative Disorders is an undergraduate degree to become a Speech-Language Pathologist, which is a Master's program.
