I think BU has amazing access to resources and research, but that sometimes clouds other aspects of the environment. It isn't always the most supportive of individuals coming from backgrounds with fewer resources. Being in Boston, it provides and incredible, collaborative intellectual environment.

I fell behind, and the school didn't really do much to help me or ensure my success. It kinda felt like it just stranded me. I loved the environment, the people, the campus, and the professors, but I hated how it felt like I was constantly failing, and ultimately, even though I graduated, I did so poorly that it had no impact on my future career.

Boston University is a great choice for prospective students due to its location, value, and emphasis on independence. There was light oversight from advisors and I had a lot of flexibility to choose and carve my own path with the classes I took and majors I tried out.

Good education but the biology major has some classes that are made to weed you out, including biology 1/2 and chemistry 1/2. Overall the classes are hard but the professors are very nice. Boston is a great city to go to college and you meet people from all over the world. Good nightlife and great campus environment. But the worst part of the school is the cost.

Overall it was good experience opportunities are there if you seek them. Teaches you a lot of things about yourself. Can feel overwhelming but things get better over time. There is always time nothing is the end all be all. Keep your options open and just explore

I transferred to Boston University in my junior year of college. The transfer process was fairly easy overall, however, the school didn't accept one of my credits just to accept it towards the end of my senior year when I was two credits behind graduation. Financial aid at BU is the best I've ever seen! I lived off campus my senior year and owed a few thousand dollars that I didn't have (-1500 SAI, Pell grant recipient) so I appealed and only ended up paying around $1k out of my own pocket. In terms... Read More

I have mostly great things to say about BU. I entered the school unsure of what direction my life would go, and left with a clear vision of the path I was taking. The classes and professors fully prepared me for entering the real world by presenting consistent and unique challenges. This has made my life after graduation a smooth and enjoyable ride, and has given me plenty of opportunities to create a happy and sustainable life. The other students I met were diverse and intelligent, shaping me into... Read More

The program has extremely dated curriculum and is not current to what is being done in industry. Advertisement for the program states a lot of things that are misleading or simply do not occur in the program at all. Students struggled to find internships (which are required by the program) and faculty provided no resources to help. There is not a strong alumni network and there are very few jobs in the field. I would strongly discourage attending the program. It is very expensive and unless you intend... Read More

I was needing to take a specific course for a certification I am pursuing. I paid the tuition costs, was never provided login information to complete this course, and when I reached out they told me my access had expired and offered to do nothing to help simply stating it was my fault for not reaching out sooner. I’m sorry but if you never provided access then that’s a you problem not me. Note: this particular online program is apparently managed by a vendor that doesn’t even work for the university... With one exception, every one of my online facilitators was dedicated, experienced and established in their field. I appreciated learning from instructors with diverse backgrounds. The program itself is very organized. I appreciate the structure of the program because the synchronous learning model connects you with your teachers and peers. They are always trying to improve the student experience and are responsive to any issues or concerns you may have. Expensive, but worth it!

While there are good things about this program, I am overall disappointed in the quality of the live classroom component, which is the reason I chose this program over an asynchronous program. Facilitators that run the classes feel much more like TAs than professors for the majority of courses. The part of the program that is currently working are the asynchronous lectures and reading materials. The program uses a combination of both to educate its students. If structured, face-to-face learning (virtual... Read More

The institution of Boston University became my home away from home. The staff within the department of psychology cared deeply for their students and worked tirelessly to ensure student success. The degree you receive upon graudation is incredibly well earned as the classes are both rigorous and throught provoking.

BU is an amazing school and I loved my time there. The graphic design program was great. It has changed a lot since I was there and has gotten even better. The college of fine arts is small and intimate in such a higher school. I highly recommend it. The professors and staff in CFA go out of their way to get to know you and help you pursue your goals.

This is a review for the BU MAMS program. Do not attend if you are trying to get into medical school. The statistics they give you is all smokes and mirrors. Many students do not get into medical school and are left with no job prospects and a lot of debt.

Upon entering BU, I would highly advise an incoming student to enter into the school in which they are planning to get their degree from. I was placed in the College of General Studies (CGS). Since there was a core curriculum I had to complete, I wasn't given much opportunity to explore different areas of study during my freshman and sophomore year. However, once I entered into the College of Arts & Sciences (CAS) to focus on my psychology degree, I enjoyed my experience a lot more. I was allowed... Read More

Individual experience in this department is greatly dependent on your advisor/lab. There are many ambitious and political research professors here but if yours is not powerful and decent be prepared for an uncertain and unfriendly experience. Competition is stiff among graduate students and the culture is awkward, relations among faculty were similar. I recommend careful consideration and planning before entering this program and if you do enroll have an exit strategy. If things aren't great after... Read More

I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Boston university. Although I did not end up going into the field that my degree is in, I feel the information I gained has helped me not only in every day life but in my new career as well. The university is very welcoming of students that are different and non-traditional, which is something hard to come by.

My experience with Boston University was very mixed. There were definitely some great parts- the diversity and classes available. I also encountered a lot of frustrations. 1) Study Abroad: During my time at BU, there were no study abroad opportunities in my desired location. That is fine, BU offers the option to create your own study abroad program. The way in which I had to go about doing it was very difficult, with a lot of red tape. It wasn't a nice, simple process as it should've been. I went... Read More

Boston University has a very large and diverse student body, with tons of options for what degree you can pursue or career you are interested in. However, the cost of attendance is likely its biggest weakness. Depending on your major, it seems hard to justify the cost of attendance if your desired field is not a particularly affluent one. However, if you know what field you are interested and can afford it, then the school is one of the best places to learn and grow, and I loved the year I spent... Read More
