I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and a Master’s degree in Taxation from this school. During my undergraduate studies, I attended classes onsite, while my graduate courses were completed online. Experiencing both learning environments allowed me to understand the strengths and limitations of each, which later proved helpful when working in a hybrid professional setting. In Georgia, it is not very common to find schools that offer a Master’s degree specifically in Taxation rather than Accounting,... Read More

I attended Georgia State University as an adult learner, working full time during the day and attending classes in the late afternoon/evening. So I didn't have the average college student experience.
What I found was that the University, for a campus that is spread out in a downtown urban environment, had a close-knit, small campus feel. Professors were very friendly, welcoming, helpful, and knowledgeable.
The quality of the classes was top notch. I gained a vast amount of knowledge in my years there.... Read More

I attended Georgia State University for 4 years and graduated in May 2021 with my bachelors in Biology. My school experience was amazing and I made a lot of friends and was able to connect with a diverse group of people. I believe that a lot of the professors were fair and willing to work with students. I frequently visited office hours and became known by my first name with some professors ( it is an extremely large campus).
My only complaint about my university experience is that GSU has an open... Read More

I genuinely enjoyed every moment on campus and online at Georgia State University. I minored in Anthropology and WGSS. Everyone that I met in the humanities at Georgia State State became a mentor to me in one way or another. I wish I had taken more time on my degree track and taken more classes with the professors I worked with.

I had a generally positive experience at my school. The professors were knowledgable and most classes were well organized. The coursework could be challenging sometimes but it just helped me become more knowledgable and build my critical thinking skills. I also appreciate the resources available to students, such as tutoring and academic advisement.. One thing that could be improved is communication but overall the school provided a good academic environment with plenty of opportunities for students.... Read More

Georgia State University is a great place for STEM majors and others looking to pursue research and further learning. Class sizes aren't huge and you get lots of opportunities for individual care. There are many great professors, especially when you get to your specific field of study.

I can highly and heavily recommend GSU due to their focus on technological innovation, student success, and maintaining a heavily cultured campus. Professors are high quality, the campus itself is very modern and clean, the university is well engrained with the city itself, and there is a real sense of shared pride in attending the university.

Georgia State University has a major problem. That problem stems from the staff. Advisors and staff are so incredibly difficult to get ahold of, and so out of sync with each other that I almost had to attend school for a whole extra semester. I had an advisor who gave me false information about my credits, and come to find out she was fired shortly after. Once that fiasco was solved, graduation went off without a hitch.
Other than that, I enjoyed my time at GSU. The classes in the Film Department... Read More

Georgia State has a great abundance of teachers who care about you and are willing to help you pass your classes. They strive to make class fun and easygoing for those who struggle falling asleep in class. The only negative thing about it is the school is in the city, which can be unpredictable about the homeless people around. Overall, it is a great school to attend and great people that you'll meet.

Georgia State wasn't a bad experience but a lot of things could have been improved to make it a better experience. For one Georgia State is on an urban campus. That means students have to interact with potentially dangerous strangers, homeless people, and panhandlers on a daily basis. Atlanta may be small but it is a very busy and dynamic city. When I was on campus, campus police were almost never around and there were several situations where I had to get myself out of danger without having the... Read More

Georgia State University has many positives that make me feel satisfied and happy with the time I spent there. It is a very large and diverse community, with many resources available for students. The downtown style was new for me, but not only did I become used to it, but I actually grew to like it and even miss it today.

It was a school where I was able to take advantage of the resources given to me in order to kickstart my career. I learned a lot through my time in college even though times were a bit unprecidented with COVID happening. My first two years were all in person, my 3rd year was all online and my 4th year was hybrid. The learning style was a little tricky but I was able to get through college and graduate early and have a full time job right out of college!

I graduated with a B.Sc. in Psychology back in May 2020. I felt overall the academic part was very interesting. I enjoyed pretty much all the upper-level Psychology courses, and learned a great deal both on neurobilogical side and more on the qualitative side. I understand far more about myself and relationships, and read voraciously on various topics on a regular basis to this day. There were a lot of people I met; although, I wish I spent more time developing my relationships with the people I... Read More

Georgia state is a decent and affordable school foe Georgia residents. I find the outcomes to be similar to UGA in the southeast region especially. Definitely a commuter school, so if you're looking for more a party school Georgia State isn't that. The Robinson College of Business is great and lead to me getting a high paying entry level job fresh out of college.

I am a current student in the Georgia State University Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) program, and I can honestly say this has been the worst academic experience I’ve had in higher education. The number one issue is disorganization. The program feels completely uncoordinated, and the administration and faculty do not seem to communicate effectively. Emails often go unanswered, or take far too long for a response. I have even been outright ignored by the clinical liaison. Registration for class is... Read More

Administration is terrible and nonresponsive. Advisors are worthless as are most of the so-called professors. I would not recommend. There was always some issue and you have to fight tooth and nail to try and get help. I thought I would love this school, but sadly I will be so glad to graduate and get out of this disaster

If you are a veteran, I highly recommend finding a different school. It was almost every single semester there were issues with my G.I. Bill on the GSU side of things. Rather that be them not submitting all my classes to the VA or trying to charge me more because they did not record my G.I. Bill correctly. This has happened every single semester I attended (7 total) and they almost always blame the student and are little to no help in resolving any issues.
