I think Brenau University was a great school. Some people don't like the quiet town but I loved it it's like its own little college town. I do believe this is the best university to get any graduate degree. The professors care about you, the advisors are extremely helpful and definitely want to see you succeed. I think they have a lot of great resources to help you succeed in your classes. One other thing I like is some people after graduating college feel alone and don't know where to look for a... Although I met many wonderful friends that I still keep in touch with I do not feel like the education I received here was impactful. Especially when it came down to upper level science material. I graduated with a 3.2 gpa but still felt like I didn't pick up anything meaningful. It was until I took prerequisites at a local college when I felt like I actually learned and retained the material. The tuition was also not worth it. A thousand times I would choose. Local community college over Brenau.... Read More

I stayed in this program for 1 month. I had a bad gut feeling about this program from the start but tried putting that behind me and give it a shot. The word disorganized doesn't even seem to fit the bill. It's all over the place and there really isn't any teaching. And I can't stand when professors set you up for failure. Advanced Pathopharm gave a "blueprint" but then tested heavily on HIV that wasn't even on the blueprint? Did you forget to even really put it in the powerpoints as well? A teacher... Read More

ELMSN leadership should be ashamed and do better. There are really good professors here, but there is an equal amount of horrible professors. Unfortunately leadership does not create a good learning environment for the Master nursing students. Everything is put together last minute and very disorganized. This really should have been fully online, bc we are teaching ourselves. Sorry to the good professors, bc they don’t get any credit bc the bad professors overtake the positives.

This is the wish.com version of nursing schools. For the ELMSN, classes are extremely disorganized, professors do not teach, and some professors don't even know the material they are supposed to teach ("go ask so-and-so-professor-that-you've-never-met for questions on today's lecture"). When the professors do teach, they ask questions about the material and then do not give any answers or useful knowledge. The PowerPoints look unfinished- 3 or 4 words per slide and utterly devoid of content. Almost... Read More

Like any programs, there are going to be issues. However, the faculty and staff take it very personal when you bring up these issues and try to remedy them. They do not take feedback well and struggle to meet the needs of any diverse students. For a program that teaches how to advocate for clients, they do not like when students advocate for themselves. This program is extremely theory based and not practice based, which will not help you as a pracititioner. Not worth the money.

The school is very self taught and has a heavy focus on pediatrics. If I had to do it again I would have went to a cheaper school that was more hands on. Very little carried over to a career as an OT. The school focuses heavy on theory based research versus hands on learning which is what you actually need as an entry level OT in the field. My advice-- Look into cheaper schools!

Having the campus in Augusta was great. Taking online courses with the ability to see people in an actual office was so helpful. The faculty and staff were more than helpful.

Brenau University is a wonderful place to further one's career at the graduate level of study. Their M.S. in Applied Gerontology was one of the first in the nation, which was begun by Dr. Bonnie Kin, who is an expert in this field and who began this program ahead of its time. In addition to always being available via email or phone (even though the program is solely online), the instructors are knowledgeable and caring. The camaraderie developed between classmates and instructors is like none other... Read More

Brenau is a university that will challenge you to bring out the best in you. The professors were tough, but fair, and they had a way of making the learning process interesting and not boring.

Pros: the flexibility, i.e. the ability to complete the degree fully online; the affordability; the rigor of the program Cons: At times, the courses rely to heavily on supplemental materials such as videos and opinion, rather than facts, which takes away from the actual educational experience, in my opinion

I am currently enrolled at Brenau Univeristy. I have reached the halfway point in my program and I am very excited. I have to admit that I was a little nervous about going back to school while working full time and being a single mom, but it is working out for me. I really like the how the classes are set up at the university. You only take one class, and meet once a week for six weeks before moving on to the next course. The workload can seem to be overwhelming, but as long as you pace yourself,... Read More

I really like the professors. No matter how busy they are, they always seem to make time for their students even if I contact them at 3am, I will still receive a reply in just a few minutes. They have a lot of connections outside of the school for job placements and faculty members work diligently to help find you job placements. The only negative thing about Brenau is that there is a not as much social events as some colleges.

There is little public transportation in the area, however the actual school is wonderful. Most of the professors are very passionate about the field and the material, so learning from them is fairly easy. Some have insanely high standards, but they do manage to make sure to keep them realistic. I love the weekend program, as it is designed for individuals who have to live a life (other than as a student) while they are in school. Overall, good school. The number of baby boomers turning 65 will double by 2020 and those boomers will be getting older every year. This country needs so many people to offer numerous services to older adults. The difficult thing is that very few colleges offer a Masters or even Bachelors program in Gerontology. Most just offer a certificate with other programs. Brenau college offers a great online program for this degree.
