Brigham Young University Idaho was an amazing experience for me and many others that I know. The classes are much smaller than others at different colleges. Because of this, your professors get to know you and the other students in the class much more. They are able to tutor you more and answer questions regularly. The school offered many opportunities for the students to grow their knowledge, have fun, and be social during all times of the year. There is always something to do on campus which I... Read More

Attending BYU Idaho was a fantastic option for someone like me who was a new stay at home mom but wanted to make sure I had career choices when my time spent at home would end as my kids became school-aged. It focused on religion more than I would have liked.

I wash unsure if I was going to learn anything in my classes when I first started. I got a part-time job as a staff accountant while I was going to school. I noticed that a lot of the material in my classes applied to my job. I also was able to learn quicker because I was experiencing my Major while I was taking classes. Almost all of the teachers are exceptional and have experience in the material they are teaching. A lot of students are dedicated to their studies as well. It makes it easy to get... Read More

When it comes to my experience with BYU Idaho, I have come to the conclusion that their online program is very affordable but the quality of the education was near average levels. For instance when I was taking Database Coding classes they tended to focus on the bare minimum and the projects that were in the courses only covered mastery of general SQL but not SQL that would be used in the workforce. I did find the tutoring system helpful and the resources provided as life long valuable resources,... Read More

Overall, if you are a part of the church, I think it is a great college to attend. It's not BYU, but it is still really good, plus I feel it is a lot more inclusive and more of a tight community than any other college I can think of, because it is kinda in the middle of nowhere. Do not go in the winter, though, it is cold and sad, haha.

Rexburg, Idaho is a very unique place to attend college, but I feel grateful for the quality of the education I received from BYU Idaho. I feel that between the changes that turned the school into s more team-focused environment rather than an individual-focused model was extremely beneficial and I felt that I was a beneficiary of the education I received there. The business classes, in particular, borrowed a lot of material from the Harvard Business School and so I feel that between the various... Read More

BYU-Idaho’s environment was exceptional. The proximity between buildings makes getting to class fast and easy. It’s a wholesome atmosphere with a clear spiritual focus that prioritizes traditional values. The most impressive part about BYU-Idaho is the value of the professors. They are incredibly educated and thanks to BYU-I keeping classroom sizes relatively small, your professors know you extremely well and care a lot about your education and life. Like everything in life you will get out what you put in, but the amount you get out from BYU-I seems much higher than at other colleges.

BYU-I was an amazing school both academically and socially. The professors there genuinely care about your learning and future. I learned a lot at my time of schooling there. Additionally the atmosphere of the events and other students was very positive. Most importantly the school supported the students spiritual journey and goals.

Overall great experience with professors that cared. The class sizes are smaller than traditional universities making it easier to work with professors and get help when you need it. Tutoring was free and I was able to get help at no extra cost. Everyone there is really friendly and nice to interact with.

Brigham Young University Idaho was a great college campus to attend both in person and online. I not only received what I perceived as a top tier education, but also made lasting friendships that I still enjoy today. I would not have the career or success today if it were not for my education at this institution.

The focus being on religion and not education negatively impacts the quality of learning. I wouldn’t recommend this school to anyone serious about their education. There’s a strange culture of dating/trying to get students married, there are strange requirements for students to be attending their church, significant class time is taken up every single period for prayer and other religious rituals.

I loved my time at BYU-I! The environment is uplifting and warm. I made friends that have lasted. The experiences I had helped to shape and prepare me for my life. I felt prepared to enter the job field in many ways. Socially, spiritually, mentally, in all these ways I was built and edified. The campus is welcoming and friendly and the classes truly helped me to learn.

As a stay-at-home mom, it was so wonderful to be able to attend school and take care of my kids. It wasn't easy, but I was so glad to have the opportunity. I had varied experiences across my courses. Some teachers got to know the students, gave feedback, and actually taught lectures. Others were barely there. So, if you go the online route, be prepared to have no idea what to expect from class to class. That being said, I never felt like there was a class that expected so much that I couldn't fulfill... A lot of the tests were open book, which helped me with my test-taking anxiety. We still had to do group projects for some courses, which really stunk since we were all living in various places. Additionally, BYU-I has their young students do a semester of online courses every year (or something like that), so I had a mix of late teens/early twenties and other older folks. The young kids were far less dedicated, so it stunk to be grouped with them.
Overall, I feel like I got a really good education and I feel like I accomplished something HUGE. I am grateful for an online option that allowed me to get my degree and be home full-time with my kids at the same time.

Do not participate in the Pathways program online which awards you a degree through BYU Idaho. If you take this program you will here from counselors that the system is "broken" and they know it. If you call BYU Idaho for help, they can not help you and admit that Pathways is a mess. I have finished all my class work over 3 months ago and they still can't figure out how to award my degree! The mentors, counselors, phone support and grievance center are all "nice" but know one can tell you the appropriate... Read More

First off, Pathway was a waste of a year of schooling and the credits from it are useless anywhere but BYUI. BYUI online was a disappointment. While the instructors are generally good, support for online students is non-existant - you're on your own. It's nearly impossible to talk to a human and when you do, it's some fresh faced, clueless kid who is neither trained nor compensated but has been duped into volunteering. They lack real world experience and knowledge adequate to answer the most basic... Read More

The campus is very pretty. The professors are excellent and helpful, and I don't have a problem with the rules or honor code. That being said their lack of communication with students is appalling. They spam their student's emails with daily announcements. Some of the information is important, but most are things like dances, spiritual thoughts, and events on campus. Glitches and technical issues are RAMPANT. Situation 1: Recently, I had to drop a second block class. While I was trying to drop the... Read More

I am a online student that studies that has taken the pathways program. The cost per credit is cheap(Under $100 per credit) that I do not need financial aid. The online courses are must easier than my high school class(1991 grad). Now hearing this, this college is for students who know what they want and are willing to work with the advisors. The students must plan for their classes themselves and are responsible for their work. If you can not plan and do the work then do not apply. The tech classes... Read More

We were ranked number one in the nations for research in the Marriage and Family Studies field, and it’s easy to see why. I feel I have an edge over the competition with the curriculum I’m given and the instructors I learn from. All are leaders in their field and are concerned about me personally, and ready to discuss and answer questions liberally. I would recommend this University to anyone.

If you want a good bang for your buck, then this is the university to go to. If you look at it, you get the best ROI (Return on Investment) from this school as compared to others on this list. I personally studied CM with a minor in Business Management and got the same job out of school as other graduates from universities on this list. I felt that my program prepped me for the industry enough to give me a good foundation to build on. If you can deal with the religious requirements of the university,... Read More
