I graduated from the College of Natural Science and Mathematics. Cal State Fullerton is a great campus. I was lucky in that my department was small enough that once upper division classes were reached, you knew the other people in the class and easily became friends. The department teachers were very reasonable so long as you showed up for class, did the readings, and completed the homework. You know - what students are supposed to do. I also lived on campus for four years, and the housing office ran it well. As all college kids experience, I had a roommate situation and the only way I could see it being handled was moving into a different place...in the middle of March. I called the housing office. No problem. Within the next week I was able to move out. I know it's tedious, but attending the RA meetings and getting to know them by their first name is a good thing. They will often tell you what is happening at the housing office, and what is upcoming, like important deadlines (e.g. housing forms for the next academic year). The Rec Center is also a personal favorite. While I know it can be awkward to go to a communal gym with sweaty dudes grunting on weight machines, there are other amenities like a track to run on, treadmills and elliptical machines, and also free classes for Zumba and other dance-fitness cardio workouts you can attend for free. All you have to do is show up when the class starts. The Zumba class I went to was on Wednesdays. All in all, my advice is the following: 1. Try your best in class and go to the teacher's office hours if you are struggling. They notice if you are putting in the effort and time especially if you go to their office hours, and two of my grades were spared on two separate classes because of that. 2. If you live on campus, attend the RA meetings and get to know them. They will give you important information and help you be one of the first to meet deadlines (and since CSUF is a commuter school, it is very competitive to get a spot in their on campus housing). 3. Take a break from your studies and do something mindless to reset your brain. Check out the Rec Center. I did my junior year, and I wish I had gone since I was a freshman. There is something for everyone. They even have a rock climbing wall. Good luck!
