Degree: Economics

The school is low cost and many students pay little to nothing after financial aid, which is something I really liked. Also the professors were very good helping out students. I do wish that the Economics program at Sacramento State was more quantitative, like more math and programming though.

Degree: Civil Engineering

Sacramento State University is a great place to earn a degree for certain fields. The degree I pursued was in Civil Engineering, which is one of the stronger departments in this institution. However, if attending Sacramento State University, take advantage of the extracurricular programs that are offered there. If your intent is to just attend classes and graduate without pursuing internships or attending clubs, your education will probably not be worth it. I, myself, only focused on classes, and... Degree: Accounting

My school California State university, Sacramento was overall mediocre. The academics were fine but in my major there were huge struggles with getting classes for your degree. There also was not enough support for students to get careers upon leaving and many extra curricular things were very lackluster.

Degree: Political Science

Overall, Sacramento State had very strong academics. A lot of the professors were really good and genuinely cared. However, the student life wasn't very good. It was hard to meet new people and it's a big commuter school. The sports teams also weren't very good. However, it's still a decent school.

Sac State was an amazing school. You can tailor your education to fit whatever lifestyle you need. Whether is social, academic, commuting, or working in between classes, Sac State will help you get your degree. The campus is beautiful as well. The students and staff are great.

I enjoyed my time at the school and loved my time pursuing my degree. Academics were not the greatest in the state but good enough and my education was more affordable than anywhere else I applied. I’m grateful to have spent my time in undergrad there

Degree: Graphic Design

My 4 and 1/2 years at Sacramento State were great (2015-2019)! I went in as Graphic Design major, and at Sac State they have classes you must take before even applying to the program. Once I was accepted, I loved that it was cohort base. I saw the same group of people every Monday and Wednesday for my last two years. This type of classroom/learning style not only earned me friendships that to this day I still talk to and we help one another out in our careers. But it helped me grow as a designer... Read More

Degree: Cognitive Psychology

This school was my one and only college experience so it’s difficult to compare it to others, however this school was just enough at its time. I was lucky enough to graduate within 4.5 years due to pursuing a major that was not over packed, thought maybe majors were and it seemed impossible to graduate within 4-5 years.

Degree: Sociology

I attended Sac State as a transfer student, having graduated from a community college. I decided early on that I was going to focus my academics around the 'politics of the underrepresented' and knew that after I graduated I would enroll in a teacher prep program. Sac State helped me achieve these goals.

Degree: Business Administration

I attended California State University, Sacramento (Sac State) from August 2023 to May 2025. I was a transfer student, and I appreciated the number of events they hosted for transfer students. The campus itself was always lively when I was there, and they had a lot of activities and sporting events happening. I liked that Sac State offered most of their courses in the Business program in a hybrid format where you would go in-person one day a week, and the other day was online. I ended up going to... this was only worth it because now i have a degree that says MBA and no one knows how big of a joke the program is. the school is focused on getting money, paying for sports, and doesnt not care about quite literally any other aspect of their school because people still show up...for now until they hear all the horror stories on campus. I mean dude we cant even pay for like anything online through our student portal and its 2025 lmao

Degree: Business Administration

Sacramento State University is a great school for its size. Its centrally located and has recently invested a lot into its campus, its sports programs and other areas that have greatly improve the overall atmosphere and experience. Although it is considered a commuter school, it is starting to change that.

Degree: English

I was extremely excited to graduate from community college and transfer to Sac State. I was proud of my accomplishments, but after a few months of on campus classes I've realized that I actually hate this school and would drop out if I didn't have student loans. The only thing I've found on this campus that beats out the CC I graduated from is the financial aid department, which hasn't given me any heart attacks yet whereas my CC was nightmarish when it came to dealing with them. Other than that... Read More

Degree: Marketing

I was satisfied with things like the campus, services, clubs. The whole "college experience" is definitely there and it's really up to you to be wise with your time and choices. I am not happy with the quality of education. I was part of the Business Administration program with a concentration in Marketing & delivery as well as the material presented is very outdated. You learn what Marketing is in theory & the only type of real-world application we received was the Harvard Cases. Where you would... Read More

Degree: Computer Science

I would not recommend CSUS to anyone, especially not the Computer Science program. Here's why: - CSUS isn't a particularly renowned school (like not at all actually) nor are the networking opportunities good. If you can get into a better school, do it. The school name matters a lot more than you think it does. - The CS+Engineering career fairs are very low-effort and very crowded. It's impossible to stand out. The school does not care if you get a job or not. - CSUS does not have enough staff to... Read More

Degree: Social Work

Overall the program was applicable and stringent enough to groom and prepare future clinical social workers. The teachers were open with office hours to discuss any issues you might be having, they also made the time to talk with you about your own personal issues and to help challenge you to work through them. Through those challenges the social workers are able to find other tools to help work with their clients in the future. Classes were difficult to enroll into because the program was highly... I attended 2 community colleges before transferring to Sac State. My first semester at the university... not great. Im pretty sure the staff has no idea whats going on. The person who runs the advising center for NSM (Gabrielle i think is her name) put on my advising report I still needed to take Statistics 1... I had already taken and passed that course so that made me uneasy, but maybe it was just a mistake and she had overlooked a couple things on my transcript. Then when I tried to add biology... Degree: Teaching

I thoroughly enjoyed my experience as an undergraduate for the Family and Consumer Science program. There were many hands on classes which included cooking, sewing, and going to school for field work. I appreciate this experience because it gave me an insight on how this profession can be used outside of the classroom. I learned so much and had a wonderful time at Sac State that I am now pursuing my Master's here now as well for Counseling!
