CSU likes to call it's students "scholars" but the majority of the program is busy work and reading old journal articles. It is not a hands-on program. If you are interested in a clinical career then look elsewhere for a program attached to a hospital or with a local clinic. So far, what I'm learning is relevant and is taught by well-known professors in the field. Professors are also very approachable. The atmosphere of the program is inviting and doesn't feel competitive. The students help each other and learn from each other. The location and surrounding area is great for recreation, entertainment, and meeting people. I have had some opportunities already in my first semester to network and meet people working in the field. There is very little diversity in the program.... Read More

Tuition would of course be cheaper if I were a Colorado resident, but it seems likely I will be able to establish residency for the second year. As with any large campus, best to take precautions at night as crime does happen and safety is an issue. CSU is large, but the occupational therapy program is limited to 50 students (highly competitive), and the faculty are not only highly knowledgeable, but very personable as well. I am choosing to attend Colorado State University because it is one of the top occupational therapy schools in the country. I feel that the expertise of the professors allows me to gain the best base of knowledge before entering the job market. I really don't have many complaints about the graduate program. Read More thing I can possibly mention as a negative is that the graduate program is so good, that it is extremely challenging to get in. As a 4.0 student out of undergrad, involved in college athletics and numerous other extracurriculars, I was wait-listed to CSU and did not get into the program until last minute. I am glad I did get in though. The extra wait was well worth being a part of such an elite program.
