Hello! My name is Olivia, and I want to share my experience with Eastern Florida State College. I began my academic journey there while I was attending high school. I utilized the dual enrollment program they offered with my high school. I continued to get my Associates Degree there, as well as my Bachelor's degree. I initially wanted to attend the University of Central Florida, but changed my mind. My mind changed once I realized how many benefits there would be to stay local. My first reason was... Read More the commute. I was 10 minutes away from EFSC. The second reason is, the cost! The tuition at UCF was double the amount of money compared to EFSC. Lastly, I was so familiar with EFSC. I knew a lot of the teachers, I was familiar with the different campuses, and I loved how welcoming they were to students. They had a ton of extra curricular activities, movie nights, hosting events for the community, etc. I absolutely loved and would reccomend anyone to attend Eastern Florida State College!

I transferred to EFSC with 92 credits, but the school only approved to accept 40 of my credits.
Advising is horrible at the Palm Bay campus. All the advisors left except 2 of them in 2024. It was impossible to see anyone.
When I graduated with my AA, I started seeing a BA advisor. I was told I would receive my AA in the mail, and we went over my courses for my BA.
Almost 3 months later, I did not receive my diploma, so I called to inquiry. I was told at that time that I did not graduate because I... Read More was short 1 credit, and they wanted me to take a keyboarding class. I transferred to EFSC with 92 credit which they threw mostly to my electives. They didn't even take my computer class, physical science, and international studies. I had to write to the admissions office to take another look at my credits and they accepted one of those said courses.
This was a total surprise to me that I did not graduate. After a few emails, they fixed it and sent me my diploma.
Fast forward only one semester into my BA. I needed an over ride to enter a full class, and my request was denied. I ended up taking 2 classes that were very hard together in the summertime.
The next semester I needed an override to enter a class because all the other classes needed prerequisites. I am new to the bachelor's program so there is a sequence to follow. Again, I was denied an over ride to enter a full class. I had to drop my other class because financial aid will not pay for 1 class.
My final review of this school is that no one cares about your education. I should've transfered to UCF for my bachelor's instead of all this trouble. Now I will be transferring out of this school.

I graduated in 2020 with a bachelor's degree in Organizational Management specializing in accounting. I landed an accounting job with a Top 15 firm immediately after graduation. I continued on with my studies to get a master's of accountancy to land a job with a Big 4 firm. EFSC is definitely an important first step in obtaining an education in Florida. Read More to pay more for your first two years of college somewhere else. Getting your bachelor's degree here is a maybe/yes, depending on what you are looking for. EFSC doesn't have the name brand recognition that UCF and FIT have, however, it's a lot less expensive and more convenient. I liked living close to campus and not having a long commute. I also enjoyed the small class sizes and the option to take courses online. Overall, it was a very affordable and convenient degree to obtain. It also opened a lot of doors career wise and graduate school wise.

Admission requirements into their nursing program is ridiculous, they only look at reading. Denied me even with high grades, a solid GPA, and a 89% in science and a 85% in mathematics on my TEAS. They accept people not prepared for nursing all the time. Their advisors don't know what they are doing, and they constantly changed the prerequisites for nursing every semester. They also made it super hard to get my AA by not applying high level sciences towards it when I shouldn't have needed my other... Read More low level classes to graduate with my AA. This school has professors that genuinely care about their students. There are exceptions just like any other school. There is ample opportunity for students to succeed. In the library there are tutors. you have to make an appointment but it is really helpful! There is even a librarian that you can make appointments with to assist you with writing papers. This program is a dreadful nightmare. Take it from someone who entered the program with a 3.8 and graduated. I don't have a reason to speak untruthfully. If you want a nursing program where teacher reply to your emails with "not my problem," and where the teachers call the student ignorant in mass emails and discuss your personal emails with other students and staff, then this is the place for you! It was a nightmare. I will continue to have nightmares for years to come from this program. I feel... Read More bad for the good professors who actually care about the students and try to help them, they deserve a better work place than what is presented by this program. Half of the time you go to class, you will be told the night pior what time you need to be there. I have proof of all of this; pictures of conversations, etc. Please, take your money elsewhere and put it in the hand of a well established, professional program. This nursing program will surely lose accreditation in the near future. Otherwise, I did enjoy many classes at EFSC. Don't let the nursing program be a representation of the college as a whole. Just don't go near the nursing program.

Eastern Florida State College (EFSC) was a good school, especially for just recently becoming a four year college. It's a little lackluster in some areas, such as anything having to do with a writing or English affiliated degree, but overall pretty extensive for still being in the process of expanding. There are people of all different kinds attending EFSC, so it's never hard to find someone with the same interests as you, and the clubs are very enjoyable with a lot of active members in each. At Eastern Florida State College you have the option to simply get your education and not participate in clubs and/or social events, or you can live the full college experience (granted, without on-campus living).
