Degree: Sociology

Despite ECSU being in an impoverished area, from day one ECSU felt like home and different in a good way. The campus is small enough that professors remember your name. Advisors and professors had open-door policies they lived by. I struggled with acceptance in Social Work program, so I transitioned to Sociology which was seamless. As a Black student, in a predominately black region, and attending a black university I was endowed with so much respect for self, school and culture. The culture at ECSU... Read More

Degree: Business Administration

I absolutely loved attending ECSU! I loved the small class sizes and the fact that my professors knew me by name and would check on me when I was not doing well. Even the Dean over my program knew me by name and would ask about specific areas of my life. Classes were mostly in-person which is how I learn best. I would absolutely attend the same university all over again.

Degree: Chemistry

I attended Elizabeth City State University (ECSU) for my undergraduate studies because it was important to me to attend a university that had students and faculty who come from similar backgrounds and circumstances, and who have had similar cultural experiences as myself. It was also equally important to be at an institution that embodied an atmosphere of community and collaboration among the student body, professors, and faculty. After touring the campus and avidly speaking with Grady Deese and... Read More

Degree: Business

I am a college graduate of Elizabeth City State University, I am currently in graduate school at Virginia University of Lynchburg pursuing master degree in organizational management. For ECSU to be a small school, this school has truly impressed me. I have regained my passion and strive for my interest and talents in Business Administration. I received my Bachelors Degree here and I am pursuing my Masters now at VUL. My teachers at ECSU have a strong interest in fueling my passion and raising me... Read More

Degree: Psychology

Proud HBCU in a small community setting, with excellent professors and class offerings. I loved this school and learned more than I ever thought I would. Opportunities granted were widespread and tuition was the lowest of all schools in the UNC system!

Degree: Teaching

Finicial aid is very hard to obtain after graduating with your bachelor's. the school is not very cooperative about helping students who are struggling with the cost of attendance. Although there are some few members of the staff and faculty who are will to help students, many staff and faculty are not very good advisers. The educational program can get confusing at times, but if your dedicated and don't give up you can do anything.
