Degree: Accounting

Fayetteville State University (GO BRONCOS) is a Historically Black College and University that provided an online bachelor's in Accounting long before other universities made the switch to offering an online curriculum for this particular major. This allowed me to pursue my second degree while being a full-time employee. Fayetteville State is not a big name school - it is not one of the regularly recognized big ACC schools that exist in the same state, it's not an Ivy League school, but what it is...is... Read More

Before switching to online only, I attended classes on campus. The facilities met expectations (coming from someone that attended four different colleges), the parking was adequate, and I had no problem making friends with the students. There is plenty to do in the city, which has a mall, a strip full of retail and food options, all of which are a few minutes of driving (or ridesharing) from campus. The faculty were always professional and organized - I never felt like I had any kind of administrative run-around, both in person or virtually when trying to register, make payments, or get any information from the registrar.

The class sizes would average around 25, I suppose that depends on the course, time, etc., but I never had problems getting attention from the teachers. The curriculum made sense, the lectures were fine in person or fine to watch as a video online, and there was a clear expectation of what was due and what made the grade. As long as you're a responsible adult, there's no reason why you could not achieve success and graduate from Fayettevile State.

Degree: Computer and Information Science

Fayetteville State is an HBCU, and the environment is diverse. All my interactions with faculty were positive and productive, I had professors I will never forget for their impact on me and the skills I learned from them. Working with staff members on campus is a coin toss, however, and I’ve had many unpleasant encounters with staff members that can be described as unhelpful at best, I would recommend the school academically, especially for the computer science degree, but I’d forewarn potential... My enrollment at Fayetteville State College was for online classes, so I'm not sure that I can give as in depth of a review as someone who attended in school courses. For the most part, I had a pretty good experience, but there were lots of moments where I felt that I could have received better guidance from more dedicated and kinder employees of the University. There were a lot of individuals, mostly the staff that weren't teachers, that had horrible communication skills with students and didn't... Read More

I personally really enjoyed my time at Fayetteville State University. While I didn't get involved in many extracurricular activities or research opportunities as my friends, it was still an enjoyable time. There were some professors who were truly dedicated to the students and dedicated to making sure they learned the material. I would recommend a friend to attend the university.

Fayetteville State University is a great institution for higher learning. FSU's School of Education is filled with helpful staff and knowledgeable professors, who help to prepare you for a successful career path. The courses require you to be placed in hands-on learning situations. The School of Education has many fields you can choose to major in, if you decide you want to switch your major.

Fayetteville State University is a part of the historic HBCU network. The instructors and advisors work hard to assist students in reaching all degree goals. Classes are tough, but you walk away feeling enlightened on the subject matter. I recommend UNC/FSU wholeheartedly. Excellent school, activities, support and a fine atmosphere.

Fayetteville State University is a good school for commuter students. I notice that the faculty shows favoritism to students that pledge. The university is taking steps to make the university more appealing. They send emails constantly to inform you of activities that take place on campus.

While studying at Fayetteville State University, I had some wonderful, caring, tough professors that really made you work for your grade (I learned a tremendous amount from them) and I had some clueless professors that were either full of themselves and played favorites or didn't care much and gave easy A's. I'm thankful for having had the opportunity to learn with the good ones, but the latter ones had me wishing I had been able to attend a better university.

I feel that this is a great program. It is very hands on program. The class size makes it possible to receive close attention. The only thing that is negative is the stiff competition of intern assignment.

The program of social work at Fayetteville State is a great program. It is a well structured program that has lots to offer. The cons is the transportation system in Fayetteville, North Carolina. The bus runs slow and is not always on time. Overall, I have had a wonderful experience at Fayetteville State University.

I love the FSU Social Work program. I like the fact the fact that because FSU is a small school, I can get the one on one time that I need with professors if needed. The professors here are dedicated to the success of the students that they serve, and it shows. If you are interested in a BSW or MSW but have a hard time in bigger schools. Fayetteville State is the school for you.

I appreciate the kind nature of the individuals within the graduate admissions; however, the timeliness with preceding deadlines for other enrollment services is in need of thedrastic improvements.

Degree: Criminal Justice

The online, MS in Criminal Justice program at FSU definitely strengthens students' critical thinking and analytical skills. The work isn't extremely difficult and the subjects are very interesting. However, communication at FSU could be better. Sometimes, you have to send two or more emails before receiving a reply, or you have to contact a couple of different people in the same department, asking the same questions.

The graduate program is mind stimulating and good in general. It could be better if some instructors and advisors communicated more. Some instructors end the semester with over half assignments ungraded and students don't know what their grades look like until they receive final scores.

The faculty are amazing to work with. They really care about you and you achieving your acedmic goals. I love the fact that the Master in Mathematics program is at night. This way I can still teach during the day and work on my masters at night. The only downfall is there is not a lot of scholarship opportunities to help you with your financial aid. Overall I really recommend this program.
