There is a complete lack of accountability on the professors part. Many of the online instructors that I've had, have done nothing, but put up assignments online. There is very little communication and even less feedback. I 100% positive that at least two of my professors never read my papers, but graded me on length and my Turnitin score. I was docked points for not attending a virtual meeting, even though I wrote the professor before the term even started and told him I was going to be out of town.... Read More I did the work he requested of me, but still docked me 20% of my grade for participation. When issues were brought to the dean and others, I was ignored. I should say "we" were ignored because I know several other students who have similar complaints to mine. I rate this school and this program a D- what a waste of my time and money. By the way... I am a straight A student. This is my second master's degree. I am no slacker. This school and program just SUCK!

Please if you’re from out of state, and a minority, do not go to this school. My first impression of this school was good. The instructors would literally call and check up on me. I was so happy and felt like they REALLY care about me being done with school. They even give you their personal cell numbers (which all of them do), but these nice and caring instructors unfortunately had already left and retired. Read More you don’t pass the exams ( which is about 80% of your grade by the way) so if you’re trying to work and go to school, you better quit work. You will have the same instructors for the rest of your program so you’re either in luck cause they like you or just quit if English is your second language. The instructors that are left are very passive aggressive. They hand out zeros left and right even if you spend a ton of time working on a project, and they don’t make a big deal about it even though it is, so even if you’re getting As or Bs on your quizzes and exams, that means nothing. So even if you are a good student and they don’t like you, you’ll have bad luck. It’s a waste of time and money.

GSW has an awesome MBA program. You can go full time or part time which has really helped me - I can reduce my hours during tax season and pick up more the next semester. The classes are taught by professors with real world experience, and they are very interactive for the most part. While I didn't always enjoy group projects, they are good for improving the communication and negotiation skills you need in today's workplace. I highly recommend this program, and am proud to be an alum of GSW.

The classes are interesting but the online format is fair to awful depending on how invested the professors are in their presentations. Videos and tutorials are sometimes very old and poorly created. Part of the problem is the online system is too complicated for non-technical type-teachers and consequently, many of the online classes have major errors in the dates, content, the calendar and other aspects on day one of classes which takes 1-3 weeks to fix. The teachers all communicate well and respond quickly to student queries but, the overall online system needs much oversight and a major Quality check before going live. Beyond this, the administrative and office staff, registrars, and many of the professors are the best in the business.

Georgia Southwestern State University is a warm welcoming institution. The time is a small community where it is helpful to focus on school work and obtaining your degree. I also played collegiate basketball there and the community and other fellow teachers are so helpful and are always making sure you are prepared with the materials and resources you need to succeed.
