Degree: Social Work

The MSW program at Loma Linda is rigorous and demanding, but the clinical education you will receive is top notch. Class sizes are small, and professors are genuinely invested in their students and passionate about their subject matter.
LLU is a religious university; however, it is in no way forced on students. I found the school of social work in particular to be very open minded and accepting. They genuinely care for the students academic success and overall well being.

The MSW program at Loma Linda is just a bunch of yikes. I ended up withdrawing from the program because it wasn't what I expected... cramming nearly 60 credit hours into a single year is PURE INSANITY. My classmates and I were just doing the work to have it be submitted and get a passing grade. This isn't education. You are supposed to learn then apply what you learn in practicum. Also the costs kept fluctuating, every time per quarter. When I got accepted into the school I was told that the entire... Read More

Hi. I'm a current student in the MSW program at LLU. The course instruction is great. The internship placements are great. However, I'm in 6 courses on the quarter system. 6 courses for Spring quarter. Fall Is September to December. Winter is January to March. Spring is March to June. You have the summer off. When in reality this should be a 3 year full-time program OR incorporate at least 1 summer at minimum.

This is not a semester school. It is quarter like the University of Washington. Classes... Read More

Run, find another school. School doesnt follow ATI standards & will still have ATI exams. They dont care about their students. Students have been caught cheating & still allowed to stay. Professors are always pressed for no reason. Main focus is reputation rather than caring for their students & seeing them success. Only 4 microwaves for 500+ students which almost never work & always dirty. No space to study quietly. If you want food the nearest place is a long walking distance which usually takes... Read More

Degree: Social Work

Very unorganized social work program. Save money and go elsewhere. There is only about 2 teachers that truly care about the students and the staff plays favorites. Don’t trust any staff because they talk behind students backs. …Many students don’t graduate on time because of the careless errors of the administration.

Anyone who applies for SLPA , should know that they do not emphasize the following on their admissions page 1. Log in at mid night of enrollment date, for example if the application date(s) are September 27th - October1st. Make sure you login at 11:59 and be the first to enroll. I know this from experience as I have done it and the office will tell you there were many candidates before you logged in hence you did not get in...this is15 minutes after you login. Interestingly the window of applications... Read More

I had a wonderful experience at Loma Linda in the MSW program. I did the Title IV-E program and it set me up for a very successful career in social work. I appreciated the clinical focus that LLU has in this program. I also appreciated the small class sizes and personal attention from the professors, as well as the religious/spiritual aspect of the program.

This would be the worst school of pharmacy to choose to go to especially if you are of a specific ethnicity/race. The discrimination and favoritism play a HUGE role in this school. You do not want to be part of this game. If you are not one of the few favorites you will not get any positions or help. The teaching program is a mess too. The schedule is all over the place and you will be stuck once you are in. The school is run by the adventists church and if you are not an adventist you don't have... Read More

Loma Linda University is a great school to complete a Masters of Public Health at. The professors are helpful and willing to work with you to find a practicum as well as career position. Because its a smaller school, students are really able to collect and develop personal relationships with professors. The material itself can be challenging, but is expected for a graduate program. Loma Linda University is also an all vegetarian school, meaning food served there is meatless and most staff are vegetarians... Read More

Loma Linda University is a faith based institution (Christian/Adventist), but welcomes students from all different backgrounds. Campus is very welcoming and beautiful. Tons of student housing-make sure to look in the school paper and local real estate offices. Classes held in new buildings with multimedia projectors for professors. Overlap between departments is good- allied health has their own mixers/nights out so students can mingle. You can walk all around campus although most prefer to bike.
