Going to this school has left me extremely bitter and angry. I feel like I have been scammed out of an absurdly high cost "education." There are some truly great professors at this school like Dr. Clay, but there are also some absolutely miserable professors like Dr. Hill, that are completely apathetic to anything that may happen to you. Read More whole issue was blamed on me and swept away. Many people in Ruston will defend the school with their last breath, because the school is the life blood of Ruston. In reality, the school does everything in its power to cover up "inconveniences." Just do some research on all of the on campus sexual assault cases that were swept under the rug. Tech is a business first, and a school third or fourth, and it is a dirty business. Did you know Les Guice makes $350,000 a year to shake hands, smile, and tell his secretary to send out emails, all while you are paying $3,000+ a quarter so a professor can tell you to pay an additional $100 for Pearson just to do randomly generated homework that they have to put zero effort into grading? Did you know they make around $1.2 million from parking decal sales alone just so you can park in muddy, dusty, gravel lot where your car will probably get keyed or broken into? Did you know that once a year you are automatically charged an additional $50 for a year book that you probably aren't in nor will you get? Please do not go to this school. Don't go to college at all, it is a scam. Welders and electricians are in high demand, and they always will be. Going to Louisiana Tech is, and always will be, my biggest regret.

Going to Louisiana Tech University was a great decision. Twelve years after attending there I can definitely tell you it is one of the most innovative places to be. LA Tech was a great place to attend college because I was able to focus on school and not get carried away with excessive partying.

My time in the College of Education at Tech consisted of mixed emotions the entire way through. It was quickly apparent that the education program was geared toward early childhood and elementary education majors, leaving little room for secondary education majors like myself. I made "A"s in every education class I took because they were all fairly simple, including the quarter-long residency. However, I learned far more in my content area courses (AKA English courses) than in my education classes.... Read More The staff in the College of Education were all very friendly and personable. They were always smiling and pleasant to be around. Unfortunately, many programs were poorly managed due to lack of consistency and communication, hence the easy "A"s. No one person is to blame. The department just has several loose ends that need to be tightened, including adding more on-campus classes instead of forcing students online when they don't want to be.

Louisiana Tech University was home away from home. Not only did I meet new friends & become close with the professors, I learned a lot on how to prepare myself for the real world. Louisiana Tech University is a growing college in a growing community but they make it a point to make sure you feel like a special individual, to help you with every step of the way & to make sure you get the most out of your education. Louisiana Tech University's undergraduate psychology program is a well-rounded educational program. The program offers courses to produce a wide variety of knowledge in the field of psychology. There are several options of graduate degrees to pursue in the field of psychology, and Louisiana Tech University does an excellent job of exposing students to each field in their undergraduate program. Overall, Louisiana Tech University's undergraduate psychology program is an excellent program.

Overall the professors and staff are nice. School is affordable, program is crap. Hard to keep professors around long enough to have a program that is well defined. New professors are more interested in making a name for themselves and moving on rather than staying and building a sustainable program. I assume the salary is so low most professors can't afford to stay anyway. There is NO freedom in determining your direction of study. While most grad programs give you the freedom to explore and plan... Read More your study, Tech gives a strict outline of what you are GOING to study. If you are in the photography program and interested in making work not about Ruston you are out of luck unless you do it on your own time, during breaks rather than during school time. Most students have to rush away on Thursdays, make work and be back in time for class on Monday. Any other times are not available because class time will dominate your schedule. I have heard of other programs allowing students to take a week or so away to make work and then bring it in to be critiqued. here there is no such freedom. Both the quarter system and dominating control of professors are restricting to the point of suffocation. Students are told which classes they will take. In my case I had to take the same class with the same professor the entire three year length of the program ( nine classes) because they wouldn't or couldn't offer any other classes in my field nor grant me the permission for independent study. Grad students have duties such as gallery installation and de-installation which can be useful but many times the workload interferes with grad students study. Rather than making work, you are stuck doing installation or other work for the school. Students must help in these duties or you are threatened with being kicked out of the program. The variety of professors is lacking. Many areas of study only have one professor, i.e.. one painting, photography, drawing. Therefore you get only one point of view and must follow their view of what art is. Overall it is a waste of money, the affordability of the school is not enough to suffer through the horribly shallow program. If I could choose again I would not choose this program.

I swore that I would never go to Tech being that I have been in Ruston most of my life, but it was the best decision I could have made. I enjoyed all of the things Louisiana Tech has and had to offer me from on campus organizations and clubs, to study tips and tools to use in the classroom. Never did a question go unanswered, nor did I ever feel like my needs were not met. I made plenty of memories and now have a degree from a very accredited university to start my career and am pursuing my Masters... Read More in the fall.
