I chose Middle Tennessee State University because it is very well-known for its accounting program. I received help from the very beginning in my accounting classes, where I met a professor who shared information about scholarships and how to find internships. In my government class, I met a professor who now works with the GAO, and she helped me find scholarships for working in government. I paid very little for my college tuition because of the opportunities I was given and the scholarships I received. I would recommend all students to consider MTSU if they wish to pursue an accounting degree.

I was a non-traditional student during my time at MTSU, I was in my 30鈥檚 and working full time. Due to this, I took mostly online classes with 1-2 in person classes a semester.
I truly enjoyed all of my in person classes, the campus buildings I was in were nice, the professors were engaging, and the class work was very interesting for me. My virtual classes were hit-or-miss. Some professors did a good job at being hands-on, while others were very distant. Overall, for the online portion, I feel like... Some of the best times of my life thus far, have been while attending MTSU. The campus was beautiful and safe. I spent many nights just roaming around from Peck Forest up the Rec Center and back without any issues. The dining choices were great as well. I highly recommend not getting a degree in audio production. You would be better off finding someone who knows what they are doing and shadowing them or looking for another mentorship or using the plethora of fantastic online resources out there (PureMix, MixwiththeMasters, ect). Get a degree in something that will lead to real and better job prospects should you need it- there's always Audio DSP, Hardware Engineering, systems engineering, Software (audio), test engineering (audio), AI audio gen,... Read More and product dev kind of roles that have much better STEM degree options than purely audio.

Then you can easily fund any music, production or other ventures or go into other fields as well. I found the MTSU Masters audio program to be largely a waste of time unless you want to be a professor, although you will get exposed to a lot. If you ask many people who attended you would likely find a similar perspective. Especially, The third year is mostly a cash grab by the university. Most graduates cannot get decent jobs (audio jobs tend to have terrible work life balance, always looking for the next gig and low pay) and spend a lot of time an energy dealing with more academic hoops more than is worth it. You will essentially spend years to learn skills that could have been taught hands-on in a few weeks or a few short months by a good mentor.

Still pursue your dreams and learn production if it is a passion- just don't worry about the audio degree. You could get a different degree at a school and hang out with the audio students to learn/use facilities.

There is literally no guidance or assistance with navigating this program of study. The answer is indeed 鈥渨atch the tutorial鈥� or 鈥渓ook online.鈥� The lectures are given poorly, there are no clear cut directions with anything to include expectations. Classes are laid out poorly and with inconsistent information. Students are talked down to as if they are children. Professors and staff are condescending. Basically paying thousands to watch lectures that were recorded off Youtube, no power point slides... Read More provided. Some lectures it was obvious the instructor was reading out of the book, and her smoke alarm was beeping in the background through six lectures. Directions from one staff member to another are inconsistent, which creates an environment of confusion. I would not recommend this to anyone who considers themselves a professional adult. Please look elsewhere. Huge disappointment.

Unfortunately, this program sets students up for failure. They change rules, grading systems, and required courses. The classes are often very poor quality and it is always blamed on the students' time management or comprehension...even if the instructor makes up medical terms and abbreviations in her narrated Powerpoint presentations. MTSU does not help students find clinical sites or preceptors and will kick students out of the program if they cannot find a preceptor. The instructors and faculty... Read More will not work with students on any level. Students are left to figure everything out on their own. There is no investment in student success in MTSU's FNP program.

Never have I experienced a more disorganized program. Half of the staff does not seem to know what they are doing either. There is one advisor for the entire nursing program that stated "its acceptable for her to take two weeks to respond to emails", unacceptable. Finding clinical placement is also very difficult, and although they state they will help you find placement, good luck. Do yourself a favor and receive your MSN elsewhere - there are plenty of other options in the middle TN area. I regret... Read More spending thousands of dollars on this program.

I absolutely enjoyed my time at Middle Tennessee State University! I have kept in contact with my classmates throughout the years and that has been a great experience for me. The class schedules also allowed a lot of flexibility to be involved in organizations and participate in community service on or around campus. The shops are new and up to date along the main streets as well as some of the traditional local spots as well. If you're someone considering playing a sport on campus there is a club waiting for you and if you're really wanting to take it up a notch you can join the athletic program also. We are home of the might blue raiders and I'm sure you'll like it here as much as I did. Im a veteran and transferred my other credits from University of Massachusetts-Lowell. The whole process of transferring was smooth and the Admin employees really do make it easy. Some people in the admissions and registrar office are almost impossible to contact and wont get back to you, however I had the advantage of the Veterans office on my side, and MT One stop makes things much easier. The Veterans office and Mr. Howell were sort of a liason between me and other departments and handled whatever... Read More they could in-house. I received a good amount of credits for my military service and many of my Umass credits were applicable to equal courses at MTSU (although some surprisingly didnt). My summer semester was a breeze with no issues with the school or any professors or staff. I live across Murfreesboro and since Im a few years older than even the oldest of the college students, I havent really made many long lasting friends or anything, but everyone seems friendly. Its still early in the fall semester so hopefully once I get out a little Ill make some connections. There seem to be a lot of frats/sororities and clubs and organizations. They also have pretty good sports teams so going to games is cool.

My experience so far in the fall semester has not been awesome. The campus does have a nice feel, the on-campus groups are very inclusive and theres a lot going on just like any other colleges campus. All of my professors seem decent, but a few are monotone and unexcited. Also, if you dont like the huge school feel with a lot of congestion then this is not the place for you. You will be dodging people/bikes/skateboards on your way to class regularly and if you arent used to crowds or do not like crowds it can be overwhelming. When I toured the school and into my first semester was after Spring semester was over, so I did not expect it to be as crowded as it is when Fall came around.

Now to my rant: the parking. Good god is the parking situation HORRENDOUS. I have to arrive at my 8am at 710 just so i can find a spot in one of the Commuter lots (even then usually the only spots open will be almost a mile grom your building). My next class after that is at 1120 which gives me about 2 hours between classes. I have to stay on campus in between classes because on the first day when I attempted to go off campus and come back, I came back to every lot being circled by about 25-30 other cars attempting to find a spot. I ended up not finding a spot, parking in a residence building lot over a mile away, and speed walking a mile to class (was already late). By the time I showed up I was covered in sweat from the stress and the late August heat that I just left instead of being that guy thats late and covered in sweat stains. The fact that the parking situation is this bad is absolutely inexcusible. The second day I tried to fix it by showing up 40 minutes before class. No luck. Ended up still being late. Honestly, if I wasnt a transfer senior I wouldnt stay at this school for that reason and that reason alone. They seem to have zero vetting of parking passes given out. I think there should be restrictions, for example freshman that live in dorms and people that live in apartments right off campus should be forced to take the shuttle and not given a parking pass. At least thats what they did at my last college which was in a busier city and it wasnt a problem. They seem to not care that more parking passes are given out than spaces there are in the parking lots. They have a couple 3-floor parking garages that are always full. The roads are horribly designed and if you dont have your head on a swivel youll get hit or hit someone else who isnt paying attention.

Its definitely a shame that a school that does most things right can be ruined by an awful parking/traffic sotuation, but in my opinion this has such a bad impact it takes the overall rating from 5 stars to 3.

Many graduate programs are online now...however....I found MTSU's FNP Program to be extremely sub par in comparison to other experiences at institutions such as Simmons (actually has an immersion skills weekend where you gain hands on experience), U of North Alabama, and Samford. While in state tuition is what attracts many, the money you pay out pales in the amount of actual experience and instruction you gain through the curriculum. This program is only in the business of taking your money and... Read More has little desire to prepare you for the advanced role you seek. There is no immersion or skills program organized for students. Suturing was taught through a video watched online. All clinical preceptors are to be secured by the student and the university provides you only a list of facilities that have accepted students in the past. Overall, the experience has been quite expensive and support from the graduate advisor has been extremely poor.- typical communication is curt and hurried. I worry almost daily that I have paid over 30k thus far and may never actually find a Women's Health Preceptor...and after waiting so long to find one...have then forgotten information from previous semesters. I do not have confidence in the program and I see potentially wasting tens of thousands of dollars as a very real possibility if I do not find the preceptors needed to complete the clinical hours needed to graduate. Look elsewhere!!

MTSU will try and screw every single out of state student out of every possible penny. They don't advise promptly on deadlines, the financial aid department/ MTONE Stop is a disatster and costs me thousands of dollars because they failed to process documents I was told were already being proccesd. Thats right! MTSU will LIE to students to make sure they are milked dry of all money. Even after paying my fees, they refuse to work with me on simple procedures. I attended Middle Tennessee State University and studied Social Work with a focus in public health in 2009 until 2013. At the time I attended MTSU it was noted as the university in Tennessee with the most diverse population of students. That is what drove my attention to attend. Most people were there to pursue music industry, music business or music production. Football was also one of the many sports that MTSU excelled in. Specifically referring the public health and social work sector I think they have some of the best professors I have ever had the pleasure of encountering. I can truly say that all of my professors were deeply embedded to the furthering of my career and education. I was pushed and challenged but at the same time felt supported in a field where many people are often wore out. My professors demonstrated dedication by not only assigning work to be done but work to be analyzed and challenged. They challenged my perspectives and widen my knowledge by pushing me to serve and question why I serve. They pushed me to find the depth to my passion and then put it all down on paper as a research study. MTSU truly has some amazing professors that are genuinely committed to the success of their students. The only complaint I would say is that parking on campus at times can be ridiculous. You will need to leave your house at least an hour before if you plan on driving to campus. However the campus is very bike friendly. The library is insanely huge and useful! The staff is very friendly and always up to assisting. In all MTSU is an amazing school and continuously growing. I would definitely recommend it to any future student.
