I learned so much at Mississippi State University and the knowledge I obtained helped me excel in law school and excel in my current job as an attorney. The professors are very knowledgeable and want you to succeed. Additionally, the campus life is very vibrant and the other students are very down to earth. It's a place you'll learn the skills to grow in your career as well as a place you'll meet people you will be friends with for many years to come.

Looking back on my time at Mississippi State University, I can honestly say it was one of the best decisions I ever made. From the moment I stepped on campus, I never would have expected how much of an impact the school would have on my life.
Academics & Professors
The quality of the academics and instruction surprised me. The reputation “State schools get throughout the country, especially ones from the south, is not the greatest. The “intro to, typically Freshmen and Sophomore year, class sizes... Read More
Campus Life & Social Scene
The campus culture is great. Whether it was football Saturdays, student org events, late nights in the library, or just hanging out in the student union, there was always something happening on campus. If you are interested in joining a fraternity/sorority, the Greek life is great. I liked the fact that Greek life is not a must to have a social life while attending Mississippi State. The off campus social life was great too; the town of Starkville is one of the best small college towns there is. Just like on campus, there were not too many weekends, where something exciting wasn’t going on around town. However, with all that said, it is up to you to get involved. The opportunities are plentiful.
I made friendships that have so far and will probably last a lifetime. The Southern hospitality stereotype is real at Mississippi State University, the people are genuinely warm and welcoming. You will not find that at every southern school.
Career Prep & Opportunities
My degree from Mississippi State University opened doors that I didn’t think were possible. Between internship fairs, on-campus recruiting, alumni networking events, and resume workshops, I felt well-equipped heading into the job market. Several of my professors had strong industry connections and went out of their way to make introductions. By the time I graduated, I had gained real experience and had a clear direction.
Cost & Value for Money
As a state school, the tuition was considerably more affordable than private alternatives and the value I received was worth every dollar. Scholarships and financial aid were easily accessible, and I never felt like the lower cost came at the expense of quality.
Final Thoughts
If you're considering Mississippi State University, don't let any preconceived notions hold you back. What I found was a vibrant academic community, a diverse campus full of life, and an institution that genuinely prepares you for what comes next. I graduated with a great degree, a new family, and memories I wouldn't trade for anything.

Mississippi State University is more than a college, it is a home away from home. So much so, that even after graduation I still go back for athletic events and alumni receptions. The faculty had a lasting impact on my life and truly gave me an education that fortified my now career. If you are looking to get a quality education with professors who truly care in an environment where you are treated with hospitality, look no further than Starkville, Mississippi. #HailState #GoBulldogs

Mississippi State University is very family-oriented. I also received a great education in preparation to pursue a Master's at the seminary. The professor was very, very knowledgeable and very easy to work with. I also had great practice in research paper writing, which prepared me well for seminary.

I enjoyed my time at State and was thankful for the opportunity to attend as an out of state student. Coming from a different area of the country, being in Starkville was a valuable part of my maturation into adulthood and showed me a different way of life than I was used to. The academic experience at MSU was fine and fairly typical of a state university. There are several strong programs and a handful that aren't. Overall I appreciated the variety and diversity of my experiences.

MSU is a great university! They have so many resources to help get your career started. I made lifelong friends there and grew my professional network tremendously. The degree also speaks for itself. The engineering department is top quality and I can tell when I'm working with another MSU engineer.

Great atmosphere and a beautiful, underrated campus. While not in the highest echelon of academics, the school is more than serviceable in getting students ready to join the workforce. It also checks all the boxes in what a typical college student is looking in getting the "college experience" all at an affordable cost.

Mississippi State University is known to be an agriculture and engineering school. In retrospect, I probably would have received a better education in accounting from a business school. Overall, I enjoyed my experience at the University, but I feel like they didn't necessarily set me up for success when entering the job market.

I was overall extremely impressed and pleased with the education I received at Mississippi State University. The campus community is small enough to feel close-knit but large enough that there's a "group" for everyone. I had a pretty good experience at Mississippi State, while attending for my degree in Aerospace Engineering. Starkville is a nice town with night life and fun things to do. Big money stunt when admitting students for online courses/programs over the summer. Each time they have made me pay a $45 readmission fee, and then proceed to not respond and/or help get course overrides from the correct departments. This is literally a joke of a program, everyone is working remotely, not paying attention to their email or teams all day. Must be nice to work at MS State and get paid to be on vacation full time. I hope upper management realizes that people are most likely using a... Read More

I had an issue enrolling in classes during the enrollment period. There is almost no way to contact any human about this online program once you are enrolled. My advisor never bothered to respond to any of my emails. Other links to someone who might have been human were unresponsive either. You could only get to some canned answers which were not relevant to the problem at hand.

Going to Mississippi state was the worst decision of my life. I was treated horribly by the staff. Got yelled at constantly. The degree I got from this college is worthless. There are so many better colleges out there. Do yourself a favor and stay far away from Mississippi State.
