The campus itself was orderly and looks nice and they were constantly adding new buildings and improving. I liked the 24 hour lab that was accessible, and I thought all of the student assistants did a great job. I don't have any complaints about the teachers I could understand, and the other half of the teachers 'might' be good, but it's hard to say since you can't understand anything they're saying through their thick accents. The first one was rude and unhelpful and tried to make me take on more than I could handle. The one I had a few years in constantly tried to get me to switch majors due to how far behind and poorly I was doing in the math courses. I still managed to graduate and I have been programming for a company for 6 years, never having used any of the math I learned there.

The faculty in the Biology Department at MS&T care if their students are learning. The department is small now, but is trying to grow. However, the small size does not limit the opportunities available to the student body. There are research positions for undergraduates and graduates in a variety of labs studying anything from microbiology, ecological systems, and more. The summer classes allow for interesting studies such as Cave Biology and students actually will find themselves studying the environments... Read More of caves in the Ozarks. Classes are available that allow you to study Tissue Engineering and see how the medical field is advancing. It is a wonderful school and a great program.

Missouri S&T is a great university for advancing your knowledge in the STEM areas. It's campus, along with the University of Missouri system is working on it's mission of Diversity and Inclusion. If you choose to attend or have attended this university your education is very important to you. The coursework in all majors is rigorous and requires a great deal of focus and ambition. The university is affordable and of good quality. Non-engineering/Non-STEM majors are still welcome to the university... MS&T is a great school, especially for those of us on Active Duty at Fort Leonard Wood. Most of the professors are prior military and understand our situation, but they are also experts in their field and help direct us to a future in Geological Engineering. Rob Clark, Kenny Light, Jim VanDike, and Lee Bunch are all great teachers, passionate about their work, and dedicated to exposing us to a variety of fields that relate to Geo Engineering, not just keeping us within the geological realm. Read More not part of the curriculum, we've learned some aspects to concrete and asphalt design that helps us work with Department of Transportation when they have issues with subgrade or aggregates. This is a great program! I would recommend it to anyone interested in Geo. Engineering!

Missouri S&T is a small school and it is easy to meet people and get to know them. It is hard to walk across campus without seeing someone you know. Since almost everyone is either an engineering student or a science student, everyone has something in common. A lot of students take the same classes such as calculus and physics and so it is easy to form study groups. Teachers are aware that students focus on their math based education and less on their English and Creative writing. The whole school... Read More system is mindful of this and many curriculums have minimal art and English requirements. Outside of the classroom, students are able to find their niche. This was one of my favorite things when I first arrived as a student. It is uncommon to walk through campus and not hear people talking about chemical compounds, comic books, or Super Smash Bros in their free time. Even though theres no music major program, there are still musical ensembles to join. Missouri S&T has several sports teams and possibly one of the most popular activities are the design teams. Mars Rover, Robotics, and even Solar House where students build an entire house run completely off solar panels are just a couple of the many teams Missouri S&T has. The classes tend to be very difficult, though since everyone that goes to S&T were the top dog in their high school. They never had to study and they were getting straight As and graduated valedictorian and so forth. Even if this isnt the case for everyone, the teachers expect a high quality of work from the students. Some teachers expect at least 2 hours of work to be done outside of the classroom for every 1 hour spent in lecture. This is part of what gives Missouri S&T such a good reputation and catches the eye of employers. A lot of engineering companies hire students who graduate from S&T because they know theyve done the work to achieve the degree. It may not be the biggest school sports team or win the contest for most beautiful campus in the country, but it has a good reputation and a good feel. Im definitely glad Ive gone to S&T for my undergraduate degree and Im looking forward to graduating and moving on to Graduate School. I enjoy the campus community, the town of Rolla, and yes even the difficult classes. Missouri S&T may not be for everyone, but for others it is the perfect place to study.

I thoroughly enjoyed my graduate program. I majored in Engineering Management and all of my professors brought in relevant material that was easy to digest. The end result was a more attentive classroom and a tangible increase in skills. My peers were equally motivated, which also contributed nicely to the classroom environment. The big negative of the school is location. The school is located in Rolla, MO, which isn't near anything. Not only is this a negative for social life or expanding your network... Read More past your fellow students, but it makes it very tough to recruit for post-grad jobs (we're two hours away from Saint Louis). In addition, I found the school is very regional, and if one wants to go to school on the east or west coast, it is very difficult as very few people there have heard of M S&T. That being said, if you are comfortable learning in a rural environment and want to stay in the Midwest, M S&T is a solid choice. If someone was to ask me the most famous grad of this school, the former CEO of Sprint would come to mind.

The graduate program is incredibly helpful for military personnel. The flexibility of the university to work with the military is a testament to their desire to help soldiers. The ability of military personnel to attend MS&T while serving in MO enables them to pursue an education while serving their country, an opportunity given none too often. Additionally, the faculty are always willing to accommodate the schedule of the military when working with students. There truly are not any noticeable drawbacks... Read More to the program.
