Do not go to this University if you are planning on being a commuter. You will regret it. Least commuter friendly campus I have attended, and I've been to a few. Obviously parking is abysmal, but that only scratches the surface. Draconian traffic enforcement designed to squeeze as much money out of you as possible, archaic online integration, and even the class schedules are frankly ill-suited for any commuter. Otherwise I have nothing exceptional to say. I liked some instructors, didn't like others.... Read More

NMU is a terrible school. There is nowhere to park. The free tutoring is trash. The tutors can never even figure anything out and waste your time. If I could go back in time, Id go to ANY OTHER SCHOOL. No one cares if everyone is doing bad in a class and the students are blamed instead of the instructor. Do not go to NMU. Its SUCH a waste of money.

I attended NMU for the 2017-2018 school year. Being an Wildlife Biology student, i was greatly disappointed that my dream school turned out being a sham school. The best thing about NMU is the food a the Wildcat Cafe/Mexican Restaurant on Campus and the friendliness of most of the staff. The education doesn't feel valued at all. I was learning parts of a flower in my biology class, something i've learned about in kindergarten.( definitely not worth paying for). After completing one year at NMU, I... Read More

Northern Michigan University is in Marquette, MI. Not only is NMU a good 4-year college, the town of Marquette is enough to win anyone over. All students will experience a small town atmosphere in the biggest city of the Upper Peninsula, but surrounded by a breathtaking view. This place has it all from hiking, biking, winter events, comedy nights, trivia, local festivals, great food, and small business shops. If the town does not win anyone over, the University has many great programs. The psychology... Read More

Northern Michigan University is a great school. The professors seem to truly care about their students and want to help them succeed. I learned a lot, especially in higher level courses. I was very happy with the Psychology professors that I was able to work with throughout my education. They were all very knowledgable.

Northern Michigan University is located in the beautiful city of Marquette, MI. This, in my opinion, is the best part of the school. Located on the south shores of Lake Superior, there are endless trails and beaches to find an adventure to offset the hectic life of a student. The people of this area are nice. The city of Marquette is amazing, and so is the whole UP. There are a lot of activities to do outside and that attracts a cool crowd. Tuition is cheap, but they keep raising it significantly... Northern Michigan University is a nestled in the north of Michigan where at first you might not expect to find such a unique school. NMU is very supportive of its students and their endeavors. My program was in international studies with a minor in anthropology. The staff are wholeheartedly dedicated to helping shape your goals into a reality while pursuing a degree. I recommend visiting NMU and considering it as an option for your education as it is a world apart from what you might expect.

This is a wonderful college. Small enough to feel like home and large enough to have everything you need.

It's a good school for people who like smaller towns and it's provides a good education. Not as well known outside of Michigan. Good clubs and sports. Friendly people.

Northern Michigan University offered me the opportunities to not only pursue my career goals, but it also helped me grow as a person. Coming from a small town I wanted the real world college experience, but without the overwhelming masses. My experiences at NMU is something I would never change, and if given a second chance, would do the exact same thing.

WILDCATS!!!! Seriously though it is a good school, but you will only get out of it what you put into it. Also I could not be in a cooler more beautiful place.

NMU is a great school. Most of the professors are down to earth. The location is great for anybody who enjoys doing things outdoors in all types of weather. It's pretty chill. Very easy to make friends in your classes.

When I was looking for a college to attend, I was looking more than just an education, I was looking for a real life experience. Northern Michigan University and the city of Marquette made this possible. Not only did I learn a lot, I was able to get out of the classroom and experience a wilderness I never before had seen. The extra coricular activities were a major highlight of attending NMU.

You'll be hard pressed to find a more beautiful campus and city than northern Michigan and Marquette. Right on Lake Superior the summers are amazing and the area surrounded by natural beauty. If you love winter or can handle the long harsh ones here you'll do great. Besides the setting the classes and teachers are also great. NMU is a relatively small University so class sizes are small and it is easy to get to know your professors who are usually very approachable. I had a great time and learned... Read More

Northern Michigan University is in the middle of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Northern Michigan University is surrounded by hills, forests, and is in a metropolitan city. The area has grown over the years and is considered to be the largest city in Upper Michigan. The school is located in the middle of the town close by downtown where students can visit and support local shops. Overall I thought the school was awesome! Northern is well known for the nursing and education programs. In some of my classes we went on "field trips". One really cool experience was going to an indian reservation school! Another was working with students at camp in Big Bay. I did not have any negative experiences with the education program. It was very well organized and professors give you hands on experience within the schools and are very helpful.

Similar to any school, there are fantastic, supportive, engaging professors and some that are not so much so. At times, it seems communication leaves something to be desired between faculty, staff, etc., which can make it very challenging for students to have realistic expectations. The program itself is relatively new, and has some kinks to be worked out, although I am thankful the program is here, and that there is a decent network of business contacts. Once out of the program, most students choose... Read More
