I was a transfer student to Ramapo College, coming from community college. I felt there was a genuine care for transfer students to ensure that they felt a part of the community and integrated well. I lived on campus and the building was for transfer students, which made it very easy to make friends and gain connections with others. While considered a “suitcase school, there was still a lot of activity and it’s really up to you to make your own experience is what I learned. In terms of academics,... Read More

I think the environment at Ramapo is really nice. The student body is diverse, excited, and involved in all sorts of campus life. Even though the school is considered a commuter school, there is plenty of campus life on the weekends, as long as you're willing to go outside your comfort zone. I was a student athlete, which definitely helped me have a positive experince. As far as academics go, it was fine. I learned a decent amount, but certain programs need a refresh of content or professors.

My college experience was mixed. Depending on what you are expecting from a school, ramapo may fall short. This school is relatively small, located in the mountains, and is a textbook suitcase school. Needless to say, there is a slight lack of things to do when not attending class or studying. On a positive note, school, at the time of attendance, felt relatively safe, and the quality of academics felt high. There is definitely a balance, but I believe this school is meant for students looking for... Read More

I attended Ramapo College from 2009-2013 for my undergrad degree. It was an idea college experience. The campus is beautiful with lovely greenery and mountain scenery. It’s big enough to feel like you’ve got plenty of options to explore and walk around without feeling overwhelming or like dorms/buildings are too far away. My dorm experience was that they were nicer and a more advantageous roommate situation than most. I had fewer roommates and more bathroom access than my friends at other colleges.... Read More

Overall, Ramapo College is a great college for those looking to save money on their education. There are still plenty of classes you can take, and some great people you will meet. I think the best part of Ramapo would be the campus surroundings. Located in the woods and in beautiful scenery, it just felt like home to me. I think Ramapo was also a great choice for me as I was a commuter and I knew numerous other commuters, I did not feel left out. Although a lot of people would say I didn't get the... Read More

My score would be lower if not for a hand full of professors in undergrad that truly cared. Prior to 2020 the college had its problems, but there were a few excellent professors that have since left. I returned in 2023 to pursue my masters, but it is now a disorganized mess. It is in a completely unacceptable state given the cost of education and the absolute abysmal support the student body receives. I know a lot of schools struggled adapting after COVID, but this school has not adapted. They have... Read More

I originally studied for one term at Ramapo College. While many things have improved since then, these are the Pros and Cons attending. 1) Lots of support from my advisor. She really helped me and when it was finals week, it was an overall good experience with progress made! 2) Excellent setting and surroundings. 3) classes were never overcrowded! Teachers were very good. 4) I loved my class we had for Seminar or orientation I guess it was. Tried and true ideas how to set yourself up for success... Read More

My experience was HORRIBLE at Ramapo. There is No security can absolutely NOTHING to do there. Weekends EVERYONE goes home. A very, very small school. This is a Commuter school. Absolutely BORING I transferred out and never looked back. It was the best decision I made. I would NEVER recommend. They do not care about the students, just the acceptance rate.

Ramapo is a great college for people who like to be in small scale classrooms. The size of the programs and class allow for each student to be acknowledged and participate in class room discussions in such an insightful way. Professors are able to know who you are and help you understand concepts on a one on one basis.

I was a student in Ramapo Colle's EOF program which tremendously helped defrey the costs during my first two years of study. Throughout my time at Ramapo I was involved and felt part of a larger family. I became a resident assistant my sophomore year of college and was involved as a peer educator, peer mentor and club president. Ramapo's career department help me land my first internship in accounting which later led to a full time job in my field after graduation. I will be forever grateful for... Read More

I chose Ramapo College initially because at the time in 2010, it was building up its new Bioinformatics program. I was studying Bioinformatics even in High School for 2 years, and I had already known it was what I wanted to do with my life, even then. At the Open House, I could tell that it was a fantastic program, and at the time, very rare. It was one of the few schools in America offering the program to undergraduates, and it was the only public NJ school offering it at the time. Ramapo College... Read More

Ramapo College of New Jersey has a beautiful campus with a quality education. The teachers care, and they are very diverse and well educated. There are a wide variety of programs available for students to get involved, and they offer quite a bit of scholarship money to out of state students. I love PO! If you go here, you will not regret it.

Ramapo recently got fully accredited for their MSW program. The campus is lovely, parking isn't terrible, and it isn't difficult to get a handle of where everything is located. Professors at RCNJ care about their students; they take the time to get to know students. Classes are small and intimate. You do 1,200 hours of field work in two different field sites of your choice (300 hours each semester). I chose this school because of it's location, class sizes, and required field work hours. I wanted... Read More

Ramapo College of New Jersey is a quiet college nestled in northern New Jersey that may seem to be not worth a look-see at first. Ramapo has been striving to improve its curriculum, support its sports teams, and create a passionate community on campus in order to become more well-known. During my time at Ramapo, I witnessed the TAS (science building) building receive a facelift as updated technologies and tools were introduced and installed into the facility. Ramapo offers an excellent program for individuals who have a full-time job. The work is very balance between online and in-class assignments. I like the way the program was structured; it offers a lot of soft skills which are more than needed in the world of millenniums.

Ramapo College of New Jersey has a great location. It was about 35 minutes away from home. Each class is 4 credits instead of 3 credits so you are able to take three classes a semester and still be considered a full time student. I found that helpful because I balanced a part time job with being a full time student. As a commuter student, parking was a nightmare and you had to give yourself an extra 10-15 minutes to find a spot and walk up to class. Many of the clubs on campus met late at night and... Read More

Ramapo College of New Jersey is a public liberal arts and professional studies institution of the New Jersey system of higher education. Attending Ramapo College of NJ was one of the best decisions I've ever made. The campus is beautiful with some of the best student housing and apartments in the state. You're education is top of line as well. There's only about 20 students enrolled in class, so you get the attention you need from your professors. Wouldn't have wanted to go anywhere else!

Small college atmosphere. Great if you want smaller class sizes and more attention. You feel more like a person than a number.
