The best thing I can say about SVSU was that it was a very welcoming, comfortable environment. It was very diverse, with people from all walks of life and social status, and it felt like anyone could have a chance to succeed and stand out. You didn't have to be a genius, or flawless, or a perfectionist to feel at home at SVSU.

Degree: Business
I attended Saginaw Valley State University to study Business Management and could not have had a better experience. The school was the perfect size for me to feel out of my comfort zone, while not being massive. I met some great friends and had the opportunity to work on campus my entire time, which helped me to prioritize my studies, while still being able to support myself. The professors I had were all very helpful and attentive. Class sizes were not small enough for the students to feel as they... Read More

Degree: Mechanical Engineering
SVSU’s Mechanical Engineering program rivals those of more expensive larger universities with the Benifits of lower cost and smaller class size. The professors go out of their way to help the students succeed, even years after graduation. SVSU is a great value for ME.

Degree: Nursing
Saginaw Valley was great because it’s a smaller campus so you feel like you get to know a lot of people. Class sizes are smaller so it is more intimate learning environment. The dorms are very nice, clean and have private bathrooms. I would say the school of nursing was good. There were some issues with professors, but overall it was a good program.

Saginaw Valley is a great university. It is small enough to still have that college feel but not too small where you know everyone. Professors are helpful for the most part and the campus is great. The campus is what really attracted me to SVSU. Also, it was only 1.5 hours from my home.

Degree: Occupational Therapy
The pros of my graduate program was the knowledge each professor displayed. All the educators wanted each student to be successful and become the best in their practice. I still keep in touch with them after 4 years of graduating. They have helped me in school and even in my career. The cons like any school would have would be the fact that after graduating I felt like my confidence was not high enough to be a independent therapist. However, with my professors giving me the support and resources... Read More

The Occupational Therapy Graduate Program at SVSU is competitive. It really shows you how much you can accomplish and prepares you for your career in OT. They provide hands on experiences and show you real life examples. It gives you a change to apply what you learn in the worst case scenario so in the field you'll never have to second guess yourself. Pros: My graduate program gives me the possibility to do what I was born to do: LEAD. I have continued to advance my knowledge and experience while making connections with a very educated professional staff and peers. The program focuses on exactly what it takes to make my career dream become possible. Cons: Cost per credit hour - Expensive, but financial aid is out there. Cuts to Education - Many state and local governments have made cuts to programs and funding for education.

I feel that there are several pros to the program at SVSU. Pros: The staff is very personable and enjoys the students in the class. There are multiple situations in which you as a student can network for future employment. The staff is very educated and the learning is hands on. The pass rate for the NBCOT exam in the previous class is very high (above 80%) Cons: The cost per credit is roughly $500.00 which is not cheap, the final level fieldwork is 40hrs a week which is unpaid for 6 months. Degree: Occupational Therapy
The school I chose to attend to obtain my occupational therapy degree has many pros. The faculty are very accessible, friendly and alway eager to help students in every way possible. The faculty knows that "life happens" and are willing to make compromises and exceptions for students in dire situations. The order of cirriculum is well thought out and intellectually challenging. However, some students have a hard time seeing how the classwork coincides with our field. Overall, I am pleased with my... Read More
