I passed all of my classes with this school and did not pass the APEA exam for clinicals for the second time. I fought hard to have a third chance because other cohorts had the opportunity to take the exam three times. The student handbook stated that students are dismissed from the program only when they fail twice, I was dismissed from the program without a failed class. The dean did not work with me to help me succeed at all instead I was told to pursue a different degree, I was ignored by the... It is hard to get ahold of any department within this school, and there is absolutely no support when needed once your in the program. The only support is from other students who are also struggling. I would not recommend this school to anyone.

The program started off well, but about half-way through, the school changed the 'name' of the degree and the length of the classes. There was no option for existing students to continue on as agreed to, and this extended the program by about 6-8 months. The student services representative for the students in my doctoral co-hort is awful. She is rude, condescending and seemingly has no understanding of adult-student learners. The program itself is poorly designed, lacks creativity and has not helped... Read More me at all in my career. Each week, you write a 3-5 page paper with a longer paper due at the final week. In addition, you must complete 2 weekly discussions. This is for every single class, with no change in the assignments. The work is repetitive, and you often feel that you are doing 'busy work,' and simply repeating the work you did in the class before. There is very little support for the dissertation process other than a 'chair.' I have talked to my chair, via phone for about 20 minutes combined over the last 6 months. I will take ownership of the fact that I have not been as proactive in reaching out to her as I should be, however. I will finish the program and graduate in 2020; I wish that I did not have so much work and money invested in the program and I could leave to another program where I have the ability to actually be challenged, learn and grow both academically and professionally.

Please take my advice and do not attend this University for their FNP program (online) . The testing and grading practices are unheard of and highly unfair. You have absolutely no guidance. Do not bother contesting anything because you will be ignored. They don’t explain anything. Syllabus do not coincide with material for scheduled exams. St. Thomas University is conspicuously tucked away in Miami Gardens, the west area of Miami. Don't be fooled by the surroundings of the school, there are great students and influential professors within this campus. My experience pertains to the Law School, which has high influence on campus and my ratings reflect this grad program. My grade for competitiveness and workload reflect that. It may feel dense at first, but you will quickly notice there is a close network of students (undergrad and grad alike) and you will enjoy your experience here.

St. Thomas University provides a very multicultural dimension to the learning environment that many universities do not afford nationally. The one-to-one attention given to the students is phenomenal. Professors work late hours to provide feedback and to be resources for students who are there full and part time.
