Degree: Forensic Science

Seton Hill University is a beautiful private, Christian school which I love, being a Christian myself. The class sizes are small so the student to teacher ratio is very manageable. This made it easy to get one on one help from a professor or advisor when I had questions. The campus itself is very old and beautifully built, with so much character and history. It’s a small school so the athletics aren’t outstanding, although I didn’t participate in any. There are still plenty of teams, clubs, events,... Read More

Degree: English

I toured 5 universities including Seton Hill University and what drew me toward this small Catholic university was its size and the community. I did not want to feel like "just another student" in a vast sea of students. Seton Hill was its own community and through it, I was able to make meaningful and lasting relationships. Students and teachers know you by name, always say hi to you or inquire about your day. I missed class one morning because I had a cold my Freshmen year and a classmate 2 years... Read More

Small university with caring staff. Your advisers genuinely care about your success. With such a small campus, you really bond with your community; I was brought soup by a classmate when I missed classes due to a cold. Students will go out of their way to greet you in passing.

Degree: Human Resources

The MBA program is a mess. Some courses are well structured while others only offer busy work that lack any real learning objective. This is true for the Human Resource Management course. Grades are not posted in a timely manor to allow you to correct any issues. Would avoid the MBA program.

Degree: Marriage & Family Therapy

Seton Hill's Marriage and Family therapy program not only gave me the tools I need to succeed as an effective therapist, but they have also given me insight into who I am as a person. It can be scary coming into a graduate program, not knowing anyone and having to navigate how to structure your time in graduate school. It can also be stressful when it's your second year in and you need to balance your classes, internship and clients with your sanity and self-care simultaneously. At Seton Hill, my... Read More

Degree: Music

I really loved Seton Hill. I was awarded enough scholarship money that it was cheaper than the public colleges I applied to. As a musician, the audition process was easy and i was not made to feel stupid because I couldn't sight-sing or read advanced theory (I'm from a small town with no opportunities). I was admitted to the music program that day. The professors knew all of us and all of our friends. The classes were small and we all became very close because there were only 100 music majors total.... Read More

Degree: Biology

I feel that college is almost necessary, or a trade school to make a livable wage. So many high school graduates are pushed to go to school, because that is what is expected, but I think that other options need to be looked at before rushing off to school. College is a huge expense. Interest rates are pretty high and not all jobs pay well at the start. Get as much experience in the field you want to or think you want to be in. Any volunteering, internships or work experience is a plus. When I was... Read More

Back to school. An adult returning to finish what I once started. Nights and weekends. Simply put... truly one of the better decisions I ever made in my life. All in all, I liked the school, the professors and certainly my classmates. Oh, and yes... for a guy that 'thought' he knew it all... I ended up learning a multitude of things, not the least of which being the fact I 'did not' know it all prior to going back to school! I am now a multi-published author and owe quite a bit of that 'drive and... Read More

Degree: Occupational Therapy

Seton Hall University offers a highly competitive and respected among licensed therapists program in occupational therapy. Classes are small and the faculty members are approachable to maximize learning. The program does lack up to date teaching methods of EMR necessary for today's medical field.

SHU has a great PA program. The professors are always there to help. They push the students to achieve their best and are very encouraging in the process. It is a challenging program but I know I will be prepared for my career when I graduate.

Great School for future Physician Assistants. You will leave the program and feel well prepared to practice medicine compared to most your peers. Tuition is expensive, but worth it in the end.

Degree: Creative Writing

The Writing Popular Fiction Program is the only program is the only program I found that truly focused on genre writing (science fiction, fantasy, romance, horror) in the country. There were other programs that spent some focus on it but not with the energy and not with the additional network of alumni in the industry. Overall this is a great program for those interested in pursuing popular fiction as a career either full-time or tangentially.

Degree: Counseling

I absolutely love the art therapy program at Seton Hill. The staff is small, and that allows a closeness to form between staff and students. I would like to see more chances for the formation of connections between the undergraduates and the graduate students. I find both pros and cons with the fact that many of my courses are part of the counseling and marriage and family departments. I like the chance to educate and work with students who might not know about art therapy, but there are times when... Read More
