I had a wonderful experience overall at Shelton state. What I did NOT have a good experience with is the nursing program instructors. Some of the instructors were very rude and made you feel stupid, small/not good enough. Absolutely not acceptable, and they were not understanding of mental health. I did not complete the program. The head of the nursing department is awesome, helpful, and so sweet.

Shelton State is a great school I recommend it to everyone. Mr. Butler and Mr. Tucker were excellent instructors. They have many years work experience as technicians and they teach you helpful tips you can actually use at work. I learned a lot while I was there and was well prepared for an electronics career after graduation. I graduated with no student debt and now make over 70k a year as an Electronics Control Technician.

SSCC is a GREAT school. From the advisers to the instructors, I really felt like they cared. With the exception of one, every instructor I had was awesome and they worked with me to help me achieve my goals as quickly as possible. I would definitely recommend this school to anyone looking to further their education.

If you are willing to buckle down and put all your effort into studying and doing what the professors ask of you, you can get through a grueling year of nursing school. The professors were more than willing to help in any way. They followed information throughout the nursing books and went by a good clinical curriculum. I am proud to be an alumni graduate of the Practical Nursing Program at Shelton State Community College.

Our community college does not offer loans. In a way that is great, but on the other hand it limits students that are needed degrees in necessary fields such as nursing. These areas of school cost a lot outside of money you can get from a Pell Grant. So, loans are needed to supplement the extra expenses that the Pell Grant does not cover.
