Keep in mind that my review of this school is biased because I didn't want to go and was strong armed into it. I am grateful that I got to go, they offer generous scholarships and take good care of their students safety, with decent academics. However, it is a religious institution, and though I technically am an Adventist (and still am), the environment was stifling in all areas of life, and I was pretty miserable the entire time.

I feel that Southern offered a nice campus with a decent moral atmosphere that allowed for variety, but didn't sacrifice religious principles. Sadly I don't think that's as much the case at this time as it was back then. I feel this university has fallen off in it's guidance and that bending to the culture has created a problematic situation. One that God cannot bless as He would like.

Here is a view from a graduate from the distant past. I am very glad I attended Southern. It has had a positive life long impact on me.
A person should expect a denominational Christian school to reflect those values in their academic environment and guidelines. Southern did and does.
Their academic standards were high and their faculty caring. The friendships and connections made during my time there have followed me in a positive way for my entire career.
I believe their current status is equally... Read More

I'm looking at all the nice reviews and asking the question "what school did you attend because the SAD I attended is nothing like you described." There is NO WAY that these reviews are real! SAD is a horrible place. Please don't come here...run the other way!!!! Don't let the so-called "Christian" information on their website fool you. They may be Adventist and they may be Ellen-G-White-ists, but they are not Christian!!!! They are a cult and they are racist!!!! I reported some of staff members... Read More

This school is only good if you're an avid Christian, but beware if you come as any other religion they will try to covert you and force it down your throat. Also do not be fooled by the financial aid department, they hire incompetent students as front desk representatives. They will hang up on you for everything. If you want to talk to anyone you have to go in person and you will be waiting for anywhere from 10-45 minutes. Also forget about even going during your lunch during the week, you will... Read More

WORST school in the face of the planet. This school is extremely racist but what else can you expect from a school located in the middle of Tennessee. The financial services are a joke. They only care about that green cash coming from you. They force you to be in the dorm so they can take out $10,000 from you in your tuition. This school robbed me of my degree. If you are a black African brother like me, go to oakwood or UTC. This school's staff do not show adventist like actions.

Southern Adventist University is a very diverse school with friendly staff and students. People are there to get educated, make life long friends, network, get connected with God, and many are also there to find their marriage partners. I was able to gain my 4 year B.S degree in 3 years! My professors and adviser helped me plan and provided resources and great advice on how to get it done! I enjoyed my 3 years at Southern Adventist University and am greatly appreciative of the education I gained,... Read More

It is a small campus filled with faculty that want to help you succeed in your studies. I appreciated the Christian atmosphere and the passion to help the surrounding community. The campus itself is very close to the city of Chattanooga yet seems that it is in its own world out in the woods. I recommend Southern to everyone considering going to college out of California.

I loved going to Southern. I made lifelong friends. My education prepared me for the real world and life as a teacher. I also loved the spiritual atmosphere around campus and being able to pray before class. Most of the staff are caring and concerned about you as person.

Had a great experience. Professors are very involved in each students education and push you to excel. Not a party school. Great location with several outdoor activities to participate in.

The nursing program at Southern is one of the best around - they prepare you very well for NCLEX and the teachers (for the most part) are accessible and extremely helpful; as well as knowledgeable.

My graduate program is one where I have gained ex ceptional knowledge and insight. The professors take the time to explain theories and concepts in such a manner that leaves one understanding the necessary and essential subject areas. The student body is reflective of diversity, as there are hundreds of international students as well as students who live and reside in the United States, but with different ethnic and racial backgrounds. I appreciate this fact, because I am not originally from the... Read More
