Lastly, considering that TWU offers over 500 clinical sites to choose from, showcasing the healthy and consistent relationships that the University has with various clinical sites across the United States, I have access to quality clinical experiences. This is the most important factor to me because many other Texas DPT programs are having difficulty accessing clinical sites due to the saturation of programs.

As a working clinician, when you mention to people that you graduated from TWU, people already expect that you're great! TWU by far was the most rewarding educational experience I could've asked for. Professors are so open to helping you and your classmates will always be there to help you. TWU (Houston campus) offered an absolutely excellent array of hands on experiences throughout the program. I received an amazing education at TWU-Houston. I was prepared to start my career as a physical therapist by the most wonderful professors & staff, who all genuinely care about each student being successful. I couldn't have picked a better place to earn my DPT. I am proud of being a graduate from the Texas Woman's University - Houston campus DPT program. Entrance into the program is highly competitive, particularly as the application process does not include an interview. Therefore, the applicant must be outstanding in their undergraduate degree, letters of recommendation, observational hours, and GRE score. The quality of the education is incomparable, particularly because 100% of the faculty are physical therapists themselves, with a majority still actively practicing in the clinic setting. The faculty goes above and beyond to help the students in learning material which more than prepares the students for the foundation they need for their internships. This also is reflected in the near 100% first-time pass rate year after year on the NPTE. I have only praise and respect for this program and, again, am a proud alumnus!

A major pro for TWU is the open and welcoming atmosphere from other students, faculty, and staff. As soon as you set foot in a classroom, it is immediately apparent that everyone around you wants to see you succeed and will do anything that they can to assure that that will happen. That is not to say that it is not a challenging program; the faculty and staff recognize that in three short years, we should be prepared to practice physical therapy at a doctorate level, and as such it is up to them... They have set up challenges and expectations for us, but they provide us with all the knowledge and skills we need to know, along with the abilities and confidence to do well in the classroom setting, and eventually in a clinical setting. Something I think TWU could be better about is integrating the three programs that are on the Dallas campus: DPT, MOT, and BSN. We all pass each other on the stairs and sit in the same cafeteria at lunch, but there is not much opportunity for interaction. It could be a great way to learn about working together on a health care team, as could very possibly be the case post-graduation.

I could not have a made a better choice in choosing TWU for my graduate program. As soon as you arrive you can sense the friendly environment. The state of the art building is perfectly located in Dallas where there is plenty of extra curricular events and sights not far from the campus. The walk from the bus stop or the train station to campus is very manageable without the feeling of being in an unsafe environment. The Dallas campus is limited to one building with only three educational programs... Read More which make it easy to make friends and meet new people. The building is suitable for the number of students as there is very little competition for study rooms or computers. The only cons are that, because of its size, there is little extracurricular activities provided by the school such as intramurals. The library and building sometimes close down earlier than you need them to before tests and are not open on Sundays.
