From the years of 1996-1998 I attended the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston and graduated with a bachelors in nursing. I lived and studied in Galveston for both years. The city this school is in makes it possible for you to find affordable housing off campus. I lived in some apartments about 10 miles from campus and spent my time de-stressing by rollerblading on the seawall. Great advisors and staff! Would recommend this school and program to anyone looking for a masters in nursing or a family nurse practitioner degree. I am currently still in the program but have been nothing less of impressed with response times and prefessionalism of the school as a whole thus far.

UTMB is a great medical school to attend in Texas. The classes are set up for the first two years in a way that allows for a lot of study time on your own instead of dependent on the classroom setting. We also have a dedicated block to studying for the Step 1 exam after the second year.

I loved it. Grad school was tough with long hours but the town is awesome if you take the time to explore and having the beach so close by. You can walk to campus too!

I am beyond pleased with choosing this program. The classes are very professional and rigorous but still allow for a work/school/life balance. I appreciate the required on campus visits because it makes me feel much more prepared than other NP students I know who are taking online programs. UTMB is a school that from the first day of school started to prepare their students for passing the NCLEX and being a safe and knowledgeable registered nurse. I feel very pleased with my education and felt more than ready to start working as a nurse when I graduated.

I am pursuing a M.D. at University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. This program is highly competitive among other Texas medical schools, while having a laid back vibe and friendly support! Though some may thing Galveston is not the best place, the island provides cheap living and the medical school provides a helpful support network.

The best part of my graduate program is how close knit everyone involved in the program is. We are all there to support one another and not to compete. The thing that I like least about my graduate program is that the scenery is not the best. There is a lot of construction that has been going on on campus and it is not the prettiest of sights.

Advantages to the program include that you get the opportunity to work alongside medical school students, take medical school courses, and get a good feel of the clinical side of research. Disadvantages to the program include that it is new and they are still working out a lot of the kinks, it's hard to get to know people because you switch from classes with med students to classes with grad students mid-way through the year, and that students in other programs are able to start rotations before... UTMB has been a wonderful choice, Although I attend school online, I have been to the campus, and it is very nice. Being a costal town there is a lot to do there. Instructors are accessable, program is affordable. I am very proud to be a student at UTMB.

It is a great online program. Affordable, accessible, great faculty. Even though it is distant education, everything seems near. The curriculum is very appropriate and knowledge based. Overall I would recommend this program to all aspiring students.
