UTRGV was a very good option for me, in terms of accessibility and cost. Living in the same city as one of its branches made attending very convenient, and in the case of selecting classes at the other campus location, online options and video streamed options were very helpful. My only issue arose as I attending during the merging of UTB and UTPA, so ensuring that my complete courses satisfied my degree was a bit of an issue at the time.

I attended UTPA when I was fresh out of high school back in 2008. I did not finish my studies, and I just began working. I decided in 2016 to go back and finish my degree and did so. I was back in college as a late 20 yo. During my first time at the university and last, I also worked there. The first time as work-study, and the second as part time employee. I had a great experience working and studying at the same time. I remember parking was a nightmare, but I assume that is anywhere. The campus... Read More

I had a wonderful experience attending University of Texas Rio Grande Valley from 2012 to 2016. During my time there, the institution transitioned from The University of Texas at Brownsville to UTRGV following its merger with The University of Texas–Pan American in 2015.
The professors and faculty members were passionate and genuinely cared about their students’ success. My classmates were hardworking, motivated, and driven. The campus offered a variety of student organizations and activities, which... Read More
At the time, the university did not yet have a football team, but that has since changed with the addition of the UTRGV Vaqueros football.
Overall, UTRGV is an excellent university that provides a supportive academic environment, dedicated faculty, and many opportunities for personal and professional growth. A lot has changed since I attended, and it is exciting to see how much the university continues to grow and evolve.

The university was very good and the business program gave me a lot of flexibility and ability to function within my own schedule. I should graduate this summer and attend the commencement in the fall. This is my second degree and I'm extremely grateful!

Good school with friendly staff and affordable tuition. Classes are solid and professors are generally helpful and knowledgeable. The campus is clean and resources like tutoring and advising are useful. Campus life can feel quiet at times but it’s a decent choice if you want a budget friendly college close to home with a supportive environment.

UTRGV MECE department has great experienced and experienced professors. The schools handling of funds is inappropriate and does not put academics and research first. The provost had a scandal where the school forced the newspaper to take down the video of it showing a lack of accountability in its leadership. The students can be nice however a large amount can be "standoffish" or already set in their small friend groups to let others in. Clubs are fun but may lack invested leadership. A lot of people... I was a terrified and inexperienced young adult entering college for the first time at 19 years old. While my peers had immediately left home for college after high school, I was dealing with financial problems that prevented me from focusing my energy and time on attending, so I decided to take a gap year. This negatively affected my confidence. When I felt confident enough to return to school, as hesitant as I was, I was greeted warmly by all the advisors, counselors, and staff I encountered at... My experience at this school was okay overall. Nothing really stood out as exceptional, but it still served its purpose. The classes and course worked helped me complete my program and learn what I needed to do. I just wish there would have been more engaging opportunities.

I chose this graduate program because it was entirely online, which allowed me the flexibility to complete the program while still maintaining my other responsibilities. I have one more module until I finish my program in Business Analytics and AI and I found the program to be challenging and rewarding.

My biggest struggle with UTRGV is how overwhelmingly liberal the university is. I am not looking for a conservative college, but they can at least try to hide their biased opinions. I absolutely hated my history and government classes! I did not learn a single, useful thing in them. In other classes, we had discussions about political issues that did not even pertain to the subject of the class (such as feminism, toxic masculinity, trans people in sports, people anti-Christian views, etc...). It... Read More

The Clinical Laboratory Sciences program offered a UTRGV is a rigorous 15 month program that prepares you for the field in many aspects. This program is very well organized, it is a small class in which students receive a good education on each subject. The students have professors available at all times. Also, rotations in clinical setting are included in the last 6 months, which help you understand more in depth, practice and prepare you for the real working environment.

If you are overseas I will suggest not to enroll in this school. I am in Germany and the connection here in this country is less than expected. Ordering your books take for ever, you can call the school and request the name of the book so that you can buy it much earlier but the book title is giving too late even if you contact the instructor one in particular that seemed not to care. No opportunity to re submit, no consideration at all. I worked on my assignment for 5 days. I submitted my assignment... Read More

The seven week courses sometimes consisted of one book, with one chapter to read each week plus a book report. There were no lectures or class discussions to put content into context. One professor uploaded five minute videos occassionally that literally consisted of her reading verbatim from PowerPoint slides. My policy analysis course somehow managed to fail to teach us how to conduct a policy analysis. Professors were unresponsive and unprepared for weekly modules. Sometimes, the instructions... Everyone is really kind but no one can do anything because only one person handles a matter. So if that person is on vacation or not there you don't have any help. I enrolled in January, and by April my financial aid did not process and I was taken out of the program although I have purchased my books. Something is missing. They don't have the sense of urgency... commitment. And it is strange that the Library did not have the books for online students. I think they may need to design their online... Read More
