University at Buffalo was an excellent school, which was rooted in academia and research. The graduate school of education had astounding faculty, and a diverse student body. I enjoyed the expertise of the professors, and the hands on experiences we received in the field of education. Namely, the Early Childhood Research Center affiliated with the University was a great place to understand the pedagogy of play based learning.

The program, in general, was disorganized. Many experiences in the Master's/PhD programs depend on the quality of the mentor. In this program, the mentors varied widely, and so the students exiting that program left with varying levels of competency and transferable skills. I wish that the mentors all had some sort of accountability and development modules/training to provide more uniform support for their mentees and strengthen their ability to handle potential situations that might arise.

Overall, my experience at the University at Buffalo (UB) was pretty solid. I had experiences both in-person and online, both we're good. The online experience was well thought out and delivered well. Most professors are great at educating, enjoy what they do, and the environment is overall a good one. Some professors, as with many colleges, do not do much to help the students and will leave you to research on your own.

My experience at the University at Buffalo has been very good both academically and personally. UB has a good balance between academics and a fun campus environment. Many professors are knowledgeable and approachable.
The campus itself is very nice and modern espeically the north one. Lots of study spaces and resources that make student life convenient and comfortable.Lots of clubs, organizations, and events that make it easy to meet people and find your niche. Doing my Chemistry PhD at University at Buffalo was a challenging but genuinely meaningful experience. It pushes you hard—there’s no way around that, but in a way that really helps you grow, both as a scientist and as a person.
What I appreciated most was the freedom to explore research areas that actually interested me. There’s a wide range of work happening, and it’s easy to find opportunities to collaborate across different fields. Having access to solid lab facilities and modern instruments also... Read More
The workload can feel intense at times, but you’re not going through it alone. There’s a strong sense of community among students, and people are usually willing to help each other out. Looking back, it’s an experience that really builds resilience and prepares you well for whatever path you choose next—whether that’s academia, industry, or something else.

I attended the University at Buffalo, and I think that it was an excellent option for a college that was affordable/low cost with good academics. The campus was big, and there were a lot of opportunities with a diverse student population. One of the cons was the weather, as it is a cold and snowy location.

This university has a lot of funding and many opportunities for students looking to try new things. It is difficult to make time to participate in these opportunities at times. Because of this, I grade the university based on the quality of the courses I took. There were too many professors that were there to perform research but unfortunately were obligated to teach a course as well. These courses were extremely difficult and required you to learn everything on your own because the research professors... Read More

From my experience of going to UB, I would rate my overall experience a 4/5. This is because I found majority of my classes challenging, but in a good way. My profesors seemed to really care for my education and provided me with materials I needed to build my skill sets, along with learning to be disciplined and manage my time well.

I like the fully online degree a lot. The professors here are pretty good, the expectations are usually fairly clear and I can work on my own time. One of my classes this semester had a surprise group project and surprise deadlines that were hidden in the middle of lectures, so that's not great, but otherwise I haven't had that problem.

I thoroughly enjoyed my experience at the State University of New York at Buffalo (SUNY). I found the campus to be exciting and enriching. The staff and resources were plentiful and phenomenal. I am so happy that I chose UB. Being an in-state SUNY school, it was also more affordable!

This was a very affordable option. The value of the education to the cost was worth it. Some classes were large early on and gen ed. courses. They got smaller as I got into my major courses and made it easier to learn. The campus was welcoming and met a lot of good ppl.

UB is an okay school, but it’s School of Management is severely lacking in its academics and career preparation for students. I liked all the social events, clubs, and sports, but it’s hard to feel like I got my money’s worth compared to the quality of education. Most of my professors didn’t care much, which was demotivating and hurt my learning the most.

It was pretty good overall, but I feel like they didnt try hard when it came to teaching in Architecture Studio. For example, I will never forget this. They were trying to teach us AutoCAD for the first time. The professor legit drew a square on the program which they thought was sufficent enough for us to figure out how to use the program. Our project by the way was obviously more complex so the fact that they barely taught us and we had to learn by ourselves is absurd. I just think they dont try... Read More

The program started out pretty well and without issues. However, as the program progressed, it had not prepared me in any way. I feel as though I have had to go above and beyond to learn the material from other sources. They also are not understanding when things happen in life. They’re just not friendly, not supportive, and I wouldn’t recommend anyone go here.

This university is extremely deceiving, in the name of scholarship they lure you in because the location of the university is awful. Winter storms, Blizzards, cyclones are so frequent. It gets depressing with all the travel bans, you get stuck between 4 walls.

The Science and the Public program is intended for those who are already teachers (no one will tell you this). It doesn't prepare you for any job, but I suppose could bump you up a pay bracket if you're an already-established teacher. It doesn't have any active teaching/shadowing requirements, doesn't prepare you for a certificate. It's entirely online, which is convenient, but the trade-off is that there is very little oversight and support for you (even from your thesis advisor!). Education is... Read More

UB is a great school! As with any school they have their issues but overall they are a very underrated school. The school of Public Health and Health Professions has some of the most amazing faculty and staff that I have come across in eight years as a college student. You know those professors when you sit in their class you feel like your eyes have been opened for the first time? That is what nearly all of the faculty at the SPHHP did for me. GO BULLS!

The biomedical engineering program was relatively new when I started and although we felt like 'guinea pigs' at times, we got to see the program grow and adapt during our four years. We also matured and gained endurance for solving problems and working in teams. The times that we struggled with problems or doubted our abilities were the times that we experienced true engineering. BME alumni are super friendly and eager to answer your questions about the program- so don't hesitate! If you're trying... Read More
