I really enjoyed my time at The University of Akron. I learned a lot from there and would recommend it based on what is currently offered. Some of the issues, though, are that it isn't in the safest area. Downtown Akron can be a little rough and dangerous. Otherwise, I would totally recommend it!

Your experience at the University of Akron is what you decide to make of it. If you just go to classes and nothing else, you might not get a ton out of it. But the professors and business school are very connected to professionals and businesses in the area and will provide you wonderful experiences if you take advantage of them. I feel like I was thoroughly prepped for the real business world from my time there. They encourage you to take internships and get involved early. Some of my favorite people... Read More

I attended the University of Akron for a degree in Civil Engineering. I enjoyed my time at UA for a few reasons. Firstly, the class size seemed "just right" for me. I had previously attended another university before transferring to UA and the previous school's class sizes were massive and it felt harder to get help or support in the courses if needed. I felt that at UA, the class size allowed for easier collaboration with instructors for support. The faculty was also very accessible and easy to... Read More
Additionally, I enrolled in a co-op program with my degree, to get hands on industry experience prior to graduating. The job placement department in the school of engineering was fantastic and sharing opportunities with students for co-ops. They will actually work with you to help land a co-op (which can sometimes be hard to tie down when you are early in your academic career). They will help you with preparing resumes, setting up interviews and teaching students how to market themselves. Not all schools offer this level of involvement to their students for job placement.

I attended this school for four years in order to achieve my bachelor’s degree. All in all it was a pretty great experience. Not too expensive and education was good enough to land me in a decent spot. I think it gets a bad reputation but i have no real issues

University of Akron gave me a quality education for an affordable me price. After considering academic scholarships I was awarded, I was able to pay for tuition without going into debt which allowed me to have a jump start on my post college career. I feel the level of education I received was just as good as those who went to more expensive public or private universities.

The college had a few decent staff members, but overall it felt unorganized and poorly managed. Classes lacked structure, communication was slow, and getting help was difficult. I wouldn’t recommend it unless you have no better options. I would not attend again.

Akron was a great university to attend not only for the social life but also for the pure academic climate I entered. I enjoyed every second of it through the ups and downs and still have nostalgia from this day just thinking about the experience in its entirety.

I’m a 27 year old Navy vet who served 6 years active duty as a Hospital Corpsman. I got out of the military in June of 2023 and began attending Tri-C western campus initially thinking that’d be easier for me. It served its purpose and I did enjoy my time at Tri-C, but, when I submitted my JST to them they only gave me 1 credit that applied towards my major, so I transferred to the University of Akron. Over the summer I went into the Al transfer office many times and was met head to head with staff... Read More

I enrolled in University of Akron through a University Partnership program at a local college where I can take Akron approved classes locally and online to receive a bachelor’s degree from the University of Akron. This seemed like an amazing opportunity as an adult student with a job since I am far away from Akron. Once enrolled and attending I was later informed that two classes were not available locally and was told I must attend in person at Akron to finish my degree requirements without any... Read More

Horrible greedy school. They love taking your money and not only giving you no opportunities but giving opportunities to people from out of state. If you drop all your classes then you still have bill its literally crazy. You feel unwelcomed, unprepared, and empty.

Akron has a good pre-physical therapy program. The program included both great hands on and in the classroom learning. I believe that Akron has prepared me to find jobs that are in the field of study but also to continuing my education to obtaining higher learning in the medical field.

The University of Akron is a great school! I am very glad that I chose to do my undergrad there. Most of my teachers were very helpful and were willing to go the extra mile to help students succeed. The campus itself is beautiful, and most of the buildings are located pretty similar and you do have 15 minutes to get to each class! There is a lot of extracurricular activities and clubs at the University to get involved with and to make friends with! The school spirit at the University of Akron is... Read More

This degree program sounds fun and is a great degree however The University of Akron finds just about every way to mess it up. The one adviser they have is kinda helpful but has no idea what is going on with internships. They only offer classes during one time slot so you are not able to customize your schedule. The one professor they have for the digital forensic courses is worthless. They have too many students in the program and not enough professors. By the time I entered my third year I was... Read More

The classes were challenging, but very interesting. I particularly enjoyed the freshman design courses where teams were challenged to build working prosthetic arms. There are many opportunities for students to be involved on campus and network with future employers.

Attending The University of Akron was one of the greatest choices I have ever made. I am from New York, and I always get asked why I came to Ohio, but honestly, it is because I love it here. I fell in love with the atmosphere as soon as I took my tour and stayed because I fell in love with the community the school lets off. Classes are a perfect size. The professors are incredible - always making sure they impacting your lives, while still keeping things interesting. Our President, Matt Wilson, has... Read More
