If you are considered acquiring a UCM agriculture degree, I would reconsider. The department here is in shambles. There is little to no organization between department chair and fellow professors. A lot of the stuff being taught is pretty elementary agriculture, even into the higher level courses. I transferred here thinking it would be a great fit from my previous institution. I was wrong. A majority (85-90%) of the stuff being instructed was already covered in previous classes at my previous institution.... Read More Mind you, I was taking junior/senior level classes here and freshman/sophomore classes before. Lectures from every professor tend to lack the depth and application to real world agriculture. If you have ever sat in a students presentation where they read straight off the presentation, it’s not much different. The ag department is very keen on having access to 750+ acre farm, which attracted me. However, integration between the farm and the ag department is little to none. If you are considering UCM for an agricultural degree, and you value your educational value, spend the extra money at Missouri State or even better, Mizzou.

UCM is a good fit. Most students are friendly and won't bother you in the common areas but it's also easy to find people to hang out with if you want. There are a lot of activities. Professors are very hands-on and want to help you; many have flexible office hours and will gladly video chat or email frequently. Online classes are fair and easy to keep up with. The library is excellent and if you don't know how to work it, somebody will show you. One thing that is irritating is that you have to pay... Read More to print your papers on campus except for one or two buildings. The financial services office is very helpful and have quick service or in depth service in the main office. UCM is actually a teachers' college so they got their name from being a mainly teacher education school and they still stand by that. If you're looking to be a teacher, the program is amazing and they work with you to get the best experience when you reach student teaching status.

The Design & Drafting program at the University of Central Missouri is a great program. If you're looking to work closely with engineers or architects but don't want to fully design the architectural system of a building then this is the career for you. A drafter provides more of a supporting role to engineers and architects. There are even opportunities where a drafter can progress into an engineering role. If you aren't completely sure or set on becoming an engineer don't worry with this program... The University of Central Missouri (UCM) is a mid-sized public university in Warrensburg, MO. Nestled between Kansas City and Sedalia, UCM offers unique opportunities to its students. The small class sizes allow for personal interactions outside of class. Several psychology faculty were more than willing to include me as an investigator in their own research. Through those opportunities, I was able to gain insight into the world of academia. I learned the basics of research design, including recruitment, sampling, questionnaire construction, and statistical analyses. I highly recommend UCM to anyone interested in working on research directly with faculty. You will be well prepared for graduate training in psychology.

The University of Central Missouri was a marvelous school to attend. It was in military town with just enough to do to keep students entertained without being a distraction. University staff were attentive, friendly, and valued education. Every interaction I had with an administrator or professor was productive and helpful; they desire to help every student excel. Read More The campus is well kept, the lawns are manicured and the facilities are cozy and clean. There are a variety of activities, clubs and councils to be a member of and every student feels like they belong. One thing that I valued about the University of Central Missouri, was their commitment to diversity. With a robust foreign exchange program, there were students who represented over 60 different countries on our campus and opportunities to for US citizens to be partnered with exchange students to ensure a smooth transition and welcoming environment. The school is great about balancing academics and athletics and I met some great friends through both, additionally, I had the opportunity as a member of the Honors College to mentor athletes and ensure that our teams were successful on the field, but most importantly in the classroom. The library offered great places to study, room rentals, and study hall hours for various degree programs. Additionally, there are many opportunities for scholarships and grants. The Honors College advisors are incredible and take time to ensure that each students fulfills their potential. I definitely did not utilize those services enough, but I knew they were always there. The Criminal Justice program was the highlight of my college experience. Every professor was brilliant and had real world experience they brought to the classroom. There were several student organization, and even a competing firearms and forensics team on the campus. Our chapter of Lambda Alpha Epsilon, through the National Criminal Justice Association, placed first place in competitions for over decade and continue to win both the regional and national levels. I am still in touch with many of my professors and had the opportunity to conduct research and have them as advisors for published papers. My time at UCM was memorable and affordable. I would highly recommend this university.

I am very pleased with the education that I received at UCM; all around, it was a very good online experience. However, I did have a very bad experience with one of the instructors who is also over the Family Nurse Practitioner Program. I do NOT recommend taking her as an instructor, I would rate her at 1 out of 5. She grades hard and does not explain the assignments so you end up getting a low score. Stand clear from her. So far, I have had a wonderful experience with this college. The application process is SO easy. You do not have to write an essay, provide references or anything else. All you have to do is turn in your transcripts and it is based solely on GPA.
