The University of Louisville provided me with an all-encompassing degree in both the Psychology and Sociology fields. The professors were very knowledgeable and eager to teach the students. One downfall of the University is regarding their advising system. Throughout my undergrad, I was never advised by someone in the Psychology or Sociology departments, therefore my advising was never in line with my undergrad path. The University of Louisville offers a diverse, fascinating curriculum. Students can major in business, sport fields, education, psychology, communications, foreign language and many more. The average class size meant we were able to connect with our teachers on a more personal level. The teachers at UofL make an effort to learn each student's name and do their best to facilitate success. This networking is essential when it comes to education, whether it be a student's need for further instruction... Read More or references. I would recommend this school to students who enjoy a medium to large campus and student body. But the most important statement I want future students to take to heart is that students who attend UofL have a wonderful opportunity to thrive and make the most of their education.

The University of Louisville has good teachers but poor administrators. I had some really great classes that challenged me to think critically and question everything. Other classes were typical PowerPoint lectures with tests after every four chapters. Overall my experience with my classes was mostly positive. My experience with the administrative side of the school is a whole other story. From the beginning when first accepting my place at UofL I struggled for hours setting up my ULink information... Read More and by the time I had gone through orientation most of the housing options were gone. ULink and Blackboard are the bane of my existence. They both crash all the time and often times take forever to load. I always had issues connecting to the wifi on campus, no matter how many tricks I tried. When trying to establish my financial aid my first semester UofL administrators put me through the ringer telling me that my problem was with the Bursar's office and not financial aid, and the Bursar's office would tell me my problem was with financial aid. I had three different advisers during my four years at UofL even though I never changed my major. The reason for my change in advisers was never given so I still don't understand what happened. None of my advisers were particularly helpful. I got some good advice here and there but for the most part when I came in they would say looks like you are on the right track--they didn't really do much advising. Graduation was the ultimate "Um.. where is my money going exactly?" moment. The rehearsal consisted of 1,000 students wondering around not really knowing what was going on, an elderly man yelling at us, and a terrible PowerPoint that came right out of the 90's when people still thought it was a good idea to use multiple fonts and colors per page and have effects on all the text. The PowerPoint didn't even work right! On top of that UofL is too cheap to have a commencement speaker (those were the words from the elderly man running the rehearsal). Commencement was fine overall. The food on campus is not healthy but there are quite a lot of options. My last year at school they changed food service companies any they took away the salad bar--the one healthy option on campus--but they did had a few more restaurants and there are food trucks on campus every day which is pretty cool. The Vill Grill is the only dinning hall on campus and as a freshman who has to eat there every day it gets boring real quick, but as an upper classman you start to really appreciate that you can get some semi healthy options for pretty cheap. McAllisters is a great place to eat on campus if you have an hour to wait in line and get your food. I was apart of Greek Life on campus and it greatly improved my overall experience of UofL. Greek Life opens you up to a lot of opportunities, and if you like to stay busy I would highly recommend joining. Greek Life is very involved on campus. There are events happening all the time. All in all, my academic experience was good (great in some cases with a few of the exceptional teachers I had) and my experience with the social and administrative aspects were fair. I would recommend UofL because it offers the experience of going to school in an urban setting and tuition is fairly inexpensive.
