The University of Massachusetts at Amherst is a terrific university to attend, I would recommend it to anyone that I know. Career services and the writing service have both helped me make a pristine resume and personal statement for which I used to apply to my graduate school. Try have also helped on numerous occasions for me to try and apply for jobs and decide what career I wanted to go in. The courses as well are easy to choose from by using their online system. Courses are what you would expect... Read More them to be, your result will be the effort that you put in for the class. It is quite easy to make connections with professors at this school, even though there are many students attending. Creating a niche and making a few friends in the same boat as you is also a lot easier than it seems for most people in college, my recommendation would be to try and make friends early on in freshman year, that's when everyone is most open to having all sorts of friends and giving everyone a chance. Housing is also made simple by using their online website, and there are many different locations to choose from depending on your life style. Security is also high on the list at this university, individuals can walk around campus at all hours and feel protected. Transportation to classes is not the easiest if you're relying on public transportation. The busses are ran by the PVTA and they only make stops on the main roads, so to get to the bus stops would be a decent walk from any on campus housing facility. None the less, they still bring you relatively close to classes. Besides the academics, the food on campus ranks as #1 by the Princeton Review for all colleges and universities around the country. Overall, I would give the school 4.5 stars out of 5. The only major thing there is to concern yourself with is the Massachusetts weather, one day it could be 70 degrees while the next could be 40, that is the only thing I haven't really figured out here myself. I would recommend this university to everyone I know.

The University of Massachusetts Amherst is a city in itself. Although the school may be lacking in the diversity department, it provides great opportunities to get involved and find a niche amongst the large population of students. There are over 300 clubs to join to cater to the interests of many, including activities such as Quidditch. The institution is known for being a research institution. For those who are interested in STEM and obtaining hands on experience, UMass is the right place. However, the large volume of classes are not very conducive to classroom learning which means that most of your learning will have to be outside of class. Overall I would recommend this university to any student who is on the search of obtaining quality education while saving money on tuition. This university has provided me not only with hands on experience in my field but has exposed me to different cultures from the cultural registered student organizations on campus. If you do decide to attend this university I highly recommend getting out of your comfort zone and joining a cultural registered organization.
