I enjoyed my experience as a student at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities campus. I found the upper-level science courses to be very difficult and it was a challenge to get professor support or ask questions during lecture when some of the class sizes were 100-200+ students. I was pursuing an undergraduate degree, knowing I would later attend a health professional graduate school. There were many resources and connections available to me through pre-health advisors, research opportunities,... Read More

Overall, UMN is a good school. They offer plenty of resources to students and push them hard. The professors are usually very cooperative with students, spending time to let students succeed. The president of the university is terrible. Ignoring that it's usually pretty good.

I really enjoyed the classes and all/most of my teachers. I felt that the employment opportunities on campus were very plentiful and beneficial, and I think there were so many clubs and activities that make it easy to make friends there. It's great for greek life and the party scene as well.

Sadly, education has become a business. Students are leaving school burdened with debt that can weigh them down for years. Knowing what I know now, I would not have pursued my master’s degree. Paying over $32,000 for a 16-month program is unjustifiable. When combined with the cost of a bachelor’s degree, this system is harmful and will continue to impact future generations.

Overall, the school was very professional, and a degree from the school represents a high achievement. Resources were available for career development and job placement. I had issues with my mental health which were addressed responsibly and respectfully by the Dean of Students. However, I anticipated much better career prospects than were made available to me. I received a scholarship based in part on my LSAT score and probably the area of law in which I was interested, intellectual property. This... Read More

My experience at the University of Minnesota definitely had its ups-and-downs. I initially started by studying computer science and realized that was not for me during my first semester of my sophomore year. I decided reverse course and apply to the Carlson, the university's business school. Although my previous grades were high and I preformed well in the prerequisite courses, I was rejected by first time applying and was accepted on my second attempt. The first rejection pushed my college timeline... Read More

I am pro education, but I have never cared for the structure of most school, because there is a lot of waste. For instance, the astrology class I took, which was really an astro physics course, was a science requirement that was a complete waste of my time and effort. I understand the idea of getting a well rounded education, but colleges are businesses that come with a very expensive price tag, that requirement could have been better spent in a myriad of other endeavors that could have added more... Completed the degree and received appropriate accredited degree for work done. Education was very expensive for being a state funded university and being a state resident already. Limited class options for specific degree. No free parking available even for full time students

I believe that the U of M is a decent school for the price they charged when I went there. My biggest concern was the ever-changing administration. I believe there are a lot of underlying issues with the administration and this concisely impacted the overall experience of students. I don't always believe the U has the best interest of students at heart even though they say they do. I just needed a school that I could get my degree from and I believe the U was satisfactory in that sense.

I think the University of Minnesota was a great school. The academics are great, the school spirit is high, and the environment, people and campus are very welcoming and beautiful. The Interior Design program taught me so much that I am currently using in my current career. I highly recommend U of M to anyone who is interested.

I had a relatively good experience at the University of Minnesota. The quality of the classes and the types of things that you end up learning at the University of Minnesota is really Diverse. The demand more out the students than previous universities that I have attended, which adds to the rigor of the studies and the reputation of the school. What I enjoyed most was the variety of classes to choose from. Because of the size of the university there are literally hundreds of classes to choose from... Read More

I am very satisfied with my educational experience at the University of Minnesota. After being accepted into the journalism program, I took classes that fueled my passion for the industry and also afforded me several professional experiences (like an internship with a local newspaper, experience creating a magazine and news site with other students, etc). I had several professors that stood out as exceptional teachers and mentors, who I'm still connected with. There were also many extracurricular... Read More

University of Minnesota Twin Cities was an awesome school. Very understanding and accommodating to adults who are juggling work, school, and family life. I felt safe when I was on campus for classes. The online portion was very easy to understand and had people available to contact if needed.

My experience at the University of Minnesota has been both challenging and deeply rewarding. From the start, I noticed that the university places a strong emphasis on academic excellence while also encouraging personal growth and independence. The professors are knowledgeable in their fields and generally approachable, making it easier to ask questions, seek guidance, and engage in meaningful discussions both inside and outside the classroom.
The coursework is rigorous and pushes students to think... Read More

The University of Minnesota is a wonderful place to find not only yourself, but the academic niche that you wish to pursue. There are so many options and working with the counselors was a breeze. I was able to find the major that was right for me and even study abroad, which was a lifelong dream of mine. My only gripe would be the extremely large class sizes for freshman science courses, which made it very difficult to get help from the professors or TAs. Chemistry was a hard pass.

The university is extremely diverse and accepting of students of all backgrounds. It's easy to fit in and to find organization and student groups that welcome you. There are also many resources available when it comes to academic support and mental health support. Many faculty are also passionate in their fields and feel like friends at times. However, many STEM classes are unnecessarily difficult and seemingly made to weed out students who aren't pure geniuses at their fields. This university is... Read More

Overall the U of M provided great resources for me as a student. I felt like the facilities were adequate for student athletics and I felt like the campus felt very cohesive. Professors for social subjects like philosophy and literature were fantastic while professors for some science subjects felt like a race to the bottom especially chemistry and physics.

I attended the University of Minnesota (Twin Cities) for about 2.5 years and during those years, I believe, while I received a good education and quality experience, there are a good bit of flaws with the administration. The OOS tuition is very high yet much of the allocated money is not used well.
