Right amount of competitiveness. Students are all nice and helpful to each other. Living is affordable, especially if you live outside of the immediate UNC area (10 minutes away is more than enough). And if you're coming from a big city (NYC, DC, etc.), everything feels almost free. Career Development Office is extremely helpful. And UNC's reputation is superb. That helps students find jobs, and let's be honest, that's one of the most (if not the most) important things in a law school.

Pros: Highly respected academic institution with great professional reputation. Challenging courses, esteemed faculty, high achieving peers, and opportunity abound. Cons: The philosophical environment here is bankrupt.

Not too bad. Some of the students can be a little pretentious, but it's not a big deal.

Carolina Law is an outstanding environment to spend your three years in law school. The professors are easily accessible and there are a plethora of programs and organizations to be involved in. The student body is very inviting and social and the city of Chapel Hill is an outstanding place to live.

UNC is a greatenvironment and a place where there a lot of opportunities to learn and study a wide variety of topics. I think the program has difficulty, like a lot of law programs, figuring out what to do with nontraditional students. As a parent, I found UNC lawto be rather difficult as the school caters to 20 somethings. Most of my professors were understanding if I had issues come up with children being sick and the such, but the institution really didn't seem to get the extra difficulties faced... Read More

UNC-Chapel Hill School of Law is one of the top law programs in the country. A positive and validating reputation precedes it and opens the doors for many network opportunities. The Career Development Office is also organized, accessible and quite helpful. The school could, however, improve slightly on diversity and diversity issues. Although the financial aid office is helpful and quite competent, scholarships and grants are a rare occurrence. Transportation is also a bit of an issue if you do not... Read More

UNC provides a world class education at an extremely affordable price. The reputation of the law school program is unmatched in North Carolina and allows students to compete with other academic institutions that are highly respected, such as Duke University. There is a strong sense of community and the faculty is willing to work with students and support them in any way possible to ensure their continued success.

Obtaining a UNC Law degree is very useful, even if you do not intend on becoming an actual attorney. Unfortunately though, the law school is very isolated from the other graduate schools and the undergraduate university itself. If you are interested in public service, UNC Law is definitely a good choice for you. Another positive about UNC-CH is the relative closeness of the other law schools in the state, as well as general division 1 universities in the Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill area.

UNC Law has been great--I feel valued as a person by the faculty and the administration, and UNC's teaching faculty is amazing--not just high caliber is academic scholarship, but very supportive and encouraging. The law school community is also just great--you can find a group of people who have the same interests as you, and the general attitude is one of acceptance and camaraderie (rather than the "ruthless competitiveness" you hear about in other schools). Further, Chapel Hill is just a great... Read More

Not too competitive but there are always a few gunners. Workload is usually manageable, though taking on extracurriculars will put you in a time crunch. Quality, passionate instructors and alumni frequently come by for events and networking. The town is okay, but small.
