Degree: Social Work

I enjoyed my time and education at the UW School of Social Work, and attended most of my classes in that building. I did not access the main campus or UW activities much because of my non traditional program.

It was somewhat diverse in student and staff body. Could have been more diverse in course curriculum and materials. More support during tough times, (example: national events that impact student/staff)

I am very happy with my institution called the University of Washington Seattle geographically located in the heart of the city of Seattle. University Washington is the flagship research institution in the state of Washington. We have diversity, but need more.

Degree: Social Work

I have been so impressed with the University of Washington and particularly the School of Social Work. The faculty are extremely helpful and supportive. In my undergrad at a different school I felt like a number and no one really cared if I graduated or not but I feel like the faculty in my program want me to succeed and are willing to work with me and be flexible so I can reach my goal. My cohort is very diverse and everyone brings something different to the table. We are all learning a lot from... Read More

First year students are forced to examine their interesecting identity amid privilege and oppression which I believe prepares graduates for a career working with marginalized populations. In some cases the organization of courses could be better - readings on topic with lectures and courses being aware of other material students are working with. Also, there is not a lot of flexibility in selecting courses during the... Read More

Degree: Social Work

The pros of my graduate program is that it is a year long program meaning that I will be that much closer to being in my dream career. Another pro is it is located in Seattle. Seattle is a city that I have always adored and love to visit every weekend. It is busy, but yet it feels homey to me. I enjoy the different scenes at night with all the lights and the scene of the space needle. The location is also key for me because I can still live where I live and commute easily since transportation to... Read More

Pros Great school, competitive program. Social Work program is awesome my favorite part is the strong emphasis on Social Justice and change. Good opportunities for research and continuing education. Beautiful and large campus, nice surroundings. Cons Expensive, low diversity in student population as well as instructors Classrooms are small and needs updating in furniture and decor.
