Degree: Marketing

I enjoyed attending Virginia Commonwealth University overall and liked the opportunities offered. My biggest disappointment was the short graduation ceremony, especially since many students missed a high school graduation. I also found Old Dominion University more welcoming and friendly.

Very diverse school with a varied student population. Great location and easily walkable with lots of great food in the area. Between GRTC and Ram Ride it was also extremely easy to get around the city. The Richard T. Robertson School of Communication and all of its professors were amazing - my experience in undergrad truly felt like a VCU Brandcenter-lite. Partying does happen but if that's not your scene there is plenty of other things to do and you can still have a great experience. I attended... Read More

My college experience was amazing here. Absolutely phenomenal professors who genuinely care about their students and well-being. I love that my school is super diverse and it makes the experience that much more wonderful to learn about different cultures and traditions here.

Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) was a phenomenal university/college experience. I met some of my closest that I still keep in contact with to this day. The social experience and environment at VCU was the best experience that I've seen and had. The academics side was very through and elaborate for the specific course material and subjects about which the courses and professors were teaching. However, I do not believe, at least for my specific major/degree path, that the courses were as extensive... Read More

Virginia Commonwealth University is a great school with brilliant academics with diverse programs. I enjoyed my time at VCU because there were helpful professors and advisors, many things to get involved with on campus and very easy to navigate on the campus. Out of all of the colleges I toured, VCU became my final choice due to them accepting my Dual Enrollment credits and being familiar with the environment. I would say that some of my favorite campus environment out of the ones I visited was ODU... Read More

VCU was the perfect choice for me. I loved that the campus was embedded in the lovely city of Richmond. The city is essentially your campus, everywhere you go you are surrounded by people your age and yet you are not confined to the traditional social structures at other schools that are run by greek life. It was the best years of my life so far.

Great campus. I loved the urban environment. However, the quality of the instructors was not very good. The classes were uneven with about one third of them having good instructors. The other two thirds were either incompetent, or simply putting in their time.

Degree: Business

VCU is not what you think it is. It is very large business that acts as school. It is all about the money. Their money and success and not yours. Did you know that its matriculation rate is less than 25%. Actual 24%. That means that when you start college that more than three out of the four sitting near you will never accomplish the goal that they are there for. Sorry to say they are losers and if you actually graduate you might think you are doing great but you are only the person that graduated... Read More

Degree: Physical Therapy

Overall, I am very happy with the education I have been receiving at VCU. For the DPT program, I am learning all the necessary background knowledge I need to treat future patients and am learning how to physically treat patients as well. We also learn a little bit about the financial side of healthcare.

I originally did my undergrad prerequisites at community college before I transferred to VCU. The entire process was super easy and simple. I don't have a lot of experience with the main campus but I basically lived at MCV/VCU health and the surrounding campus. The teachers were amazing and I learned so much. I feel like I had an extremely efficient education and it's helped me be confident in my career. It's one of the best programs out there for this field, I've heard some crazy horror stories... Degree: Social Work

VCU was the best investment that I could have ever made. The MSW program was top notch! I am successful as a social worker because of VCU’s rigorous MSW program! I will never forget my favorite challenging professor Dr. Delores Dunger-Anderson. I will recommend anyone to attend VCU’s MSW program.

The program was challenging for me as an older single parent and I loved most of it. Even the required courses that I would not have chosen myself. Some of the professors were awesome and supportive which helped tremendously. It seemed to me that they truly care about teaching relevant real world lessons. The assignments were helpful and interesting and I enjoyed working in groups as we did for some projects. The online program is positively awful. There is no teaching, just a ton of readings and writing. The professors only grade assignments and often have no idea what is in the syllabus or what is asked for the assignment. Emails go unanswered for days. The required textbooks are not up to par, the classes are very repetitive and cover the same subjects from "different" perspective. The clinical classes are inadequate and do not teach anything in depth. Even though the program is advertised as a clinical... Read More

Attending VCUarts, I enjoyed great facilities, passionate teachers, and a challenging program that pushed me to look at problem-solving from a whole new perspective. Degree: Criminal Justice

I recently graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University and overall I would have to say that the learning experience is unique to say the least. Just like any college I believe the quality of education is based upon the professors. Virginia Commonwealth University has well educated and experienced professors teaching Criminal Justice. Given the diversity among the staff and students, it makes the university a welcoming place for anyone.
