Adler University is a graduate school with locations in both Chicago, Illinois and Vancouver, British Columbia. Read More Adler University as a post-baccalaureate school that emphasizes the need for social justice and community engagement by training through both the social and health sciences. Currently, I am a freshman slated to begin my graduate work in the fall of 2017 for a master's degree in Adler's clinical mental health counseling program and could not be more excited. While I have only visited the school a few times, I could instantly picture myself attending classes and thriving in this new environment; and after talking with faculty and staff who seemed as though they wanted to be there, they made me feel wanted there as well. Despite not actually taking any classes there as of yet, Adler University seems to be a great fit for me and anyone else who decides to take on a more socially responsible education.

I attend Adler University and I am working to receive my masters in counseling specializing in sports and health. The program that I am a part of has given me the opportunity to work with all different types of people in unique settings. In addition to your course work during the first year the students take part in a social justice practicum. This opportunity allows one to work in the community and advocate for social justice. The second year of the program continues to help develop the students... Read More as well rounded counselors by providing course work, clinical internship, and a sport psychology consultant externship. I highly recommend this school if you are looking for a program that treats you like a person and not just another student! If you would like to further your knowledge in social justice and enjoy city living, Adler University is for you!

Adler University has all of the right intentions. Due to the University being private, there are some areas in the financial department that can be quite frustrating. It is also a toss up of the quality of professor you will receive. I have had the most growth in areas of personal affairs, social justice, and professional education that I have yet to experience in my life. On the same note, there were a select few professors who do not support the same social justice agenda and learning experiences... Read More as the others. I think the school has unlimited potential, but needs to continue looking into their educators as to serve its student population equally.

The pros of my graduate program are the core faculty members are very dedicated to their students and work hard to make sure everything is in order. The administration at Adler, however, is quite different: many of them become easily frustrated, make decisions that do not help students to succeed, and do not have enough network availability for all enrolled students to achieve education requirements (especially for practicums/internships). Schedules are somewhat flexible, but the programs are small... Read More enough that only one or two sections of classes are available during one semester and potentially not available again until the following year.
